I agree with you on principle, but I think we need to increase the amount of seats in medical school in general. However, I think you also have to consider where the funding is coming from (even private medical schools get huge government funding) and medical schools lose money to train a doctor. Considering the huge shortage, I think its in the best interest to accept people who are likely to serve the needed areas (and I'm not an URM btw, but they are definitely proven to go work in an urban community over non-URMs, and rural applicants to disconnected areas).

Accepting more international kids is not just an issue of taking in non-tax payers but training people who might leave the country to practice. I acknowledge that probably all of them make terrific physicians but I think training outside of the country + taking boards + doing residency might be better for everyone.

I don't have any friends tonight. A lot of people went home, and I went out last night. I'm getting old can't do 2 in a row haha.

'Avatar' is getting rave reviews. It is supposedly marking a turning point in 3D technology and will revolutionize the way films are done in the future. So happy it is living up to the hype. I was expecting a disaster.

My personal view of non-trad is being out for longer than a year or two.

I was slaughtered by Princess and Frog at work today, but I got in 10.5hrs. Now I will eat Popeye's.

I'm feeling Kid Cudi -Soundtrack to My Life also and I haven't listened to the full Kid Sis album yet but I think Daydreaming is a pretty sick song

but Pursuit of Happiness is this new year's Stonger/Superstar/Paper Planes/etc
 
I'm glad to see the reports of Manu Ginobili's demise are greatly exaggerated. 20 points at halftime. It's the Bobcats, but they're actually a good defensive team, and he's going against Stephen Jackson and Gerald Walace, both good defenders.

Yeaaah Daydreaming = nice. Good to hear from Cee-Lo


Pursuit of Happiness is such a great song. Still not sick of it... Ratatat did a great job with the instrumental which really makes the song. I also love MGMT and obviously Cudi, so it all just works. Steve Aoki did a nice rework of it (if you like club music).

I loved it! The facilities aren't the best, but they're still good. I have a couple of questions for you people who've been on interviews already. 1) Do campus tours usually include going to the cadaver lab? (it was really cool to see it, but I got the feeling it wasn't part of the usual tour...) 2) Do most schools have an "integrated curriculum"?

Some do some don't. It tends to be places like Vanderbilt (with the pimped out cadaver labs) that like to show them off.

No, some have only one subject covered at a time. It's a fairly common set up, but I wouldn't say it's the predominant way. At least at the small group I interviewed at there seemed to be a decent mix up of curriculum styles.

i think most schools at least go by the anatomy lab and the ones with the new ones/renovated labs go inside and talk about it for like a half-hour

Out of my 6 schools, only 2 showed the anatomy lab. The rest said they wouldn't or said something about it was being prepped for use or something weird.
 
Thanks for the responses guys! I'm getting anxious about the rest of my finals. I have 4 this week that I haven't even started studying for.

Just where you're from. I only know pf one Popeye's in a rough neighborhood (out of the ones I've seen/visited in NOLA, BR, and one in Houston) - and even that one's in a fringe neighborhood. You know those neighborhoods where there's ghetto on one block and rich people 2 blocks over?

Hmmm... I'm not a huge fan of Popeyes so I suppose I've never really noticed where they were located.

If I was playing ksmi this week, I'd be losing 4-5, but most of the categories would be close. I'd be beating jackson 6-3. I'd be beating JJ 6-3.
