When do you expect hear from Emory? BTW, I was looking around for wireless carriers, it seems like tmobile has uniformly the best customer service, you sure it's bad? It's coverage certainly isn't the best, but they do have some pretty cheap plans.

lol...I just have had a really bad experience with them due to their lack of fulfilment of contractually agreed upon services...such as any signal what-so-ever at my apartment (it is supposed to be 3-4 bars here). The have pretty much refused to address the issue in any way. Not cool
But hey..they do have signal other places...as long as you are not going to Emory for med school-I say go for it 😛

Also...kind of cool: there's a possibility of all four wild card matchups being rematches of week 17 games.

Eagles/Cowboys, Packers/Cardinals, Jets/Bengals, and Patriots/Texans

Pretty crazy

Only thing in NFC certain is Saints at #1 and Packers are Wild Card.

Dallas could still win the East, Philly could get #2 and so could Arizona.

NFC seeding is crazy and AFC wild card spots are crazy.
 
Hmm...so Eagles either win and get the 2nd seed and the bye or lose and have to play the Cowboys in Dallas? Yikes

Yup. Without their center Jamal Jackson (out for season)

we are completely decimated on the offensive line
 
dallas and philly both have been playing pretty decent (esp compared to the other NFC teams, although i like GB)

That's true. Saints and Vikings not good lately. Arizona is up and down, but that's how they are. Cardinals can win on any given day but can also lay an egg.

Green Bay has looked good lately - the Pittsburgh game wasn't anything to worry about.

man, now i'm kinda scared about tmobile. atlanta, around emory, isn't exactly a remote location, unlike say gainesville, and i've heard plenty of ppl complaining about their reception there. i might stick with att after all!

I'm throwing myself a birthday party. It's also a costume party...which is just an excuse for me to make the costume. Then I'll wear it for Halloween next year. 😀

The only reasons I might consider sticking with ATT after I get off my parents' plan are that most of my friends have it and the iPhone.

But the iPhone sucks as a phone. Great at other stuff, sucks as a phone. It does have the most apps out of all the other smartphones and is the most established, so I might go with it for med school. It doesn't fit well in my pocket, though.

I don't know how your financial situation is but mine isn't in the best shape, and I don't see how I can afford the minimum 30 dollars a month extra for the iphone. I think I'm gonna get a Samsung Mythic and the 15 a month data plan instead. From what I've read so far about it, it seems like a good phone, and i can get it for free on wirefly(as opposed to the ATT website selling it for 150...).

Well, you get what you pay for! Tmobile's the cheapest and has the worst coverage, Verizon and ATT are a step up, and Sprint is probably the best but also the most expensive overall. I wish these companies would open up more competition. Instead, they're joining each other in imposing that mandatory $30 per month extra charge for all smartphones. So now, if I get a smartphone, I can't use the 10-15 dollar a month unlimited data plan, I have to use that 30 dollar one which I can't afford 🙁

Yeah, that could be an issue. We'll see. There are so many things in my life left to be decided and the cell phone can wait until I actually start school.

4-year-old girl, 6-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old girl. they're quite entertaining-the little girl is currently playing candyland all by herself and having a great time haha. and i just had this conversation with the little boy:

him: do you know about tomato juice?
me: um, sure?
him: well what is it?
me: juice made from tomatoes.
him: can i eat it for dinner tonight?
me: nope
him: oh, that's ok.

haha they come up with the most random ideas about things. the little girl for some reason thinks that people grow younger after they get old so she says things all the time like "when i'm big and you're little can i make you lunch?"

I used to be a nanny for this family with 4 kids (3 month old, 2.5 year old and 4 year old twins)...much of the time it felt like I was herding cats but it was fun 🙂

5, 4, 3 year olds twins (adopted), and 1. Then after about 6 months they added a baby. All boys. When I finished (did it for three years while dad was in law school) it was the 6 boys and a little 2 year old foster girl. They moved away, but they now have 9 boys and one girl (not the foster girl....they lost her). Anyway. One of my favorite jobs ever (espeically since my mom lived right down the street!). Best birth contorl ever too. 😱



...yeah, they are Mormon. And Im eating candy can cupcakes. woot. thinking about making a cheesy potato soup and 7up bundt cake for dinner (never had one). also. my apple is not spell checking?. this could be baaaad.
 
any of you have a netbook? my laptop died and i'm thinking of getting a netbook to hold me over til i know where i'm going to school and can buy a new one but don't know if it's worth the ~250 bucks.

is a notebook different than a labtop? I have an apple and a viao, but I think those are both labtops?

I don't have one but I know several people that do and love theirs. They have a really long battery life apparently. Which is useful because I am always looking for a plug when I take my laptop out and about lol

haha i was confused too-a laptop and notebook are pretty much interchangable (laptops are traditionally a little bigger than notebooks but there's not much other difference between them though). a netbook is smaller than the laptop/notebook and has more limited capabilities-mostly used to go online and type documents. they're usually between 250-400 bucks and have a 10 inch screen or less and very limited data storage.
 
just noticed the med school admissions rant thread. seems interesting because it's like a billion pages long, but i don't feel like reading a billion pages, so anybody wanna give me a synopsis on how the OP got banned?
 
NM, read 'till he was banned. Umm, I don't think he deserved a ban, at least not for what he posted on that thread. I've certainly gone through the same phase he did, I just didn't come on SDN to rant about it and have learned to deal with it since....

Gotcha.

We have an NP who I think uses something like a netbook on rounds. She carries it around and is able to access Pts charts and write all the Drs orders during each individual stop in the Pts rooms. Maybe this is a "tablet". I dont know. Sounds like a good deal though. If you dont want to buy a labtop, I'd definitely pick up a netbook. Lol. you could make a thread....but Im guessing it would turn into a heated debate of worthiness and prestige. :laugh:

meh. I didnt read all the posts....but there is nothing I hate more than censorship. Except repeated threads. I guess I consider the OPs post as sorta trolling...the post was definitely going to insinuate drama, and if the OP is smart enough to get into med school, the OP is smart enough to know what he was about to cause. He could also used the search function and read other people's frustrations.

Im not gonna lie, I've reported a handful of posts....mostly those with personal attacks, profanity, and/or sexual references. SDN has to maintain standards....where to draw the line is a tough deal and Im guessing the mods consult each other on certain things to make sure they arent being unnecessarily harsh or biased. 😕

I know that this thread really isnt mine.....but Ive found an incredible amount of inspiration and good advice here. It is absolutley one of my favorite threads here on SDN. You guys present as a truly awesome and unique group of students. I really hope to meet some of you guys when I apply and start interviewing at schools. Thanks again for tolerating my presence.. :xf:👍
