Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OK, the PS is getting a major rehaul today. Also, I'm going to work out at some point. I need to get back into that now that I have the time.

what happened to it? MY PS always have some loophole when a reader reads it no matter how many times it got edited.

i still need to work on my optional essay where i talk about my extenuating circumstances.

I figured I'd give everyone their kitty porn for the morning

This is the newest addition to our family.

If I could do that I would never leave the house!

Cute cat, man. I'm such a jerk. I gave my cat to a friend, because I couldn't stand all the fur anymore. She would shed on EVERYTHING! Next pet... A dog.

IMO, Tulane=meh, just an easier place to get into for OOS. NOLA=great, though (if you avoid the bad areas, crime isn't that bad, hurricanes do suck though and f up your life). It seems to me that everyone there (esp undergrad) thinks they are better than everyone else. One premed girl I knew transferred there from LSU and said LSU was a joke, but she actually struggled to well there, and now she's probably barely keeping her head above water.
Wow, I just got back from a split 13.5 hr shift at the movie theater I work at: 9-5 and 11-4:30. It's an ok job, though. Does anyone else have any jobs that aren't prestigious or medically related at all, but you still do them for the money and because you at least semi-like them? It's sure not that much of a resume builder except for that I've been there for almost 4 yrs...

I knew LSU was easy!!! :meanie:

I worked at a movie theater when I was 16. It was great. I would get to bring home huge garbage bags of popcorn.

Before I got my research job I would clean salons at night to make some extra scratch, because I wasn't making enough at my regular job for school, books, rent, etc.

Can you like slip in and watch movies for free?

In a weird way filling out this AMCAS is kind of fun. Feels like this has been a long time coming.

Probably won't be so fun once the secondaries start arriving.

My kitty killed a bird for the first time (that I know of) today, and brought it inside.

I'm a vegan, so waking up to find a dead animal in my kitchen and blood all over was especially jarring.

It also made me late for an interview with a researcher I want to work for.

Now I'm faced with the dilemma of what's the vegan, humane thing to do?
1. Have the cats declawed, thereby crippling them and removing their ability to defend themselves, pick up the wiffle balls they like to play with, etc.
2. Keep the cats indoors all the time, thereby depriving them of their favorite activities of chewing on grass, rolling around on the sidewalk, and sitting on the roof
3. Let them go ahead and kill birds and just try to figure out how to keep them from getting bird guts all over the house/porch

Yeah, I can't imagine secondaries being much fun.

My professor finally posted my grade. I didn't hurt my GPA this semester, yay! 😀
Does LSU have - and + grades? Trying to avoid those A-'s is going to be annoying if you have them.

No, we do not. For me, this is a good thing, although I think I'd still have mostly A's anyway, but for others, it's not so great.
I wonder if that would improve my GPA or make it worse? I'm going to calculate it out....
EDIT: improves my BCPM, I don't feel like adding all my other classes to excel to try it.

1. Rather than making them go through a terribly painful procedure (with enduring pain thereafter), you can utilize something like these:
http://www.softpaws.com/

The shelters I volunteered at used them on most of the cats and it seemed to work fine.

2. Statistically, indoor cats live longer. Buy him a litterbox and don't let him out and he'll probably get over it.

3. Eh? Not sure how to keep them from killing the birds. Cats are cats

Wait, so A- is 3.7 and B+ is 3.3 according to AMCAS, right?

I thought AMCAS converts all your grades to A, B, C, etc and removes the -s and +s. I'm pretty sure that's right, because I've heard a discussion of how AMCAS can improve/lower your GPA by like .05 or something

This. . . Just let nature be nature - it's messy out there

i just visited my grandpa at the hospital
he's a goofball as it is
but the drugs just made him even crazier

Yeah, but I want to keep nature off my porch/out of my kitchen... bird blood all over everything really ruins my day.

Plus, it's not like they eat them. I let them kill bugs because usually they eat them, but with the bird, he was just smearing it around.

Still, I think I agree with you maybe, as long as they don't do it all the time. I'm pretty sure the other cat is too slow/dumb to catch anything, also.

Maybe I should just let the one who got the bird get really fat so he is too slow to catch birds?

When I was 8, my cat left me a decapitated rabbit and its half-decapitated bunnychild. I AM IMMUNE TO YOUR SUFFERINGS.

I AM IMMUNE TO YOUR SUFFERINGS.

Glad to hear it. Would you like to come over and clean the blood off of my kitchen cabinets?:meanie:

It was a long time ago, but yeah. I would pour myself a slushie and watch movies on my breaks.

 That is horrible. Once again, see above link, I think your cat was sending you a message! 😉

I am determined to finish this draft of my PS today. But first, I shall go for a swim. It is 93 degrees outside today. So warm.

I officially hate you... 🙁

Not to mention I'm sick now for finals... I'm thinking you cursed me with your bayou voodoo for poking fun at you when you were sick... :scared:

Oh I already know for a fact both of my cats are trying to kill me. They have their kneading technique to where they're almost able to remove my internal organs if I don't shoo them away.

surgeon kittiez?

You know, when I first browsed through the AMCAS, it didn't seem all that intimidating. Seemed fairly straightforward.

And I guess it is, but now that I'm trying to finish it up, it's taken more time than I had thought to fill out everything and write up little blurbs about my activities/life.

When it comes time to click "submit," I'm going to be so darned nervous about having a mistake in there somewhere. Or having some competitive sabotaging pre-med sneak the word "penis" into my explanation of working with inner city kids.

yea i gotta start my PS, i am not sure what i am going to include in there and not to mention i haven't even start my EC activities. lol i gotta do tthose soon.

my grandmother just brought home 2 live pigeons today! 😱 someone gave them to her at the seniors club.

she was so excited to raise them and eat their younglings when they hatch. she and my dad raised them before in vietnam. i'm like WTF?!?!?😕 she said it's very nutritious in soups. right...

i wish i can go swimming in this hot weather here in Houston. too bad i have to study for my 2 last finals in genetics and physics 2. 🙁
