Since you decided to post here and all.

For the schools I've applied for, results don't come out until waaaaay later (maybe it's a Canadian med school thing...). Fingers crossed though.

oh canada. Arent the canadian med schools like 1000x harder to get into the US md ones? I remember reading something like its impossible for many canadian students.

not quite. i'm like 75% decided. i'm WL/deferred at a few schools and waiting post interview until march/april for another. but i'm not willing to pay OOS/private tuitions without some aid.

i'm totally stoked about uc davis though - the school blew me away! this is most likely my destination unless something interesting happens w/ another school.

ohh ucd! me too. Wasnt it just amazing there? I was so shocked to be accepted. What other schools you thinking about that might take you away from davis? Im still waiting on one last school but barring something amazing id likely end up at ucd.

It would be cool to go to school with one of the 2014ers. I hope it happens. Choices limited at this point, though.

yah i think for the most part thats not going to happen? I think a few people could end up at washu or osu together? I know no one else here is going to cali besides mee lol.

not yet, so far i'm in at a couple oos and very expensive schools that i'd be happy to go to if i don't get any more acceptances. i'm keeping my fingers crossed for suny downstate (haven't heard back post-interview) and dartmouth (waitlisted) since they'd both be considerably cheaper and i loved them both when i interviewed. congrats on uc davis, that's awesome!!

Btw, if they mention any radical anti-Olympic protesters in the news, please ignore it. It usually doesn't get that bad...

Really depends on the event, but I know that some opening ceremony tickets were going for ~$1000 (and not for the good seats) a few hours before it started on Friday.

Some people I know were volunteering for it, so they got free tickets to the rehearsal for the opening ceremony on Wednesday. There were furious editorials in the newspapers about volunteers selling their free tickets online.

Btw, that snow on the east coast? We could probably use some over here!

ya i feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to travel a bit. i'm sure they'll be more opportunities during and after med school though. i can definitely see myself having a more modest house and car and spending a good amount of $ on vacations/experiences like going to the olympics and such.

Never traveled too...and Emory even has a Chemistry program in Vienna too...basically you drink tons of wine all summer and pretend to study Analytical Chem. I really messed up by passing that one up!

Maybe someone that goes to Tulane - where Tulane is located, they would have issues operating school during Mardi Gras. I think they alternate every year between 2 days and 1 week off or something like that.

My freshman year, we went to Mardi Gras and stayed uptown at my friend's house...I remember the Tulane kids doing something called "bum run" or something like that involving shopping carts and being ridiculously drunk all day.

spain is the place to go. especially barcelona. i think its better than madrid. flights are only like $500 roundtrip from here too, maybe even less.

other cities in europe are mad expensive.
