Jackons, I forgot that we're playing in fantasy this week 🙂
Yep. And otherwise, we're supposed to give up something for Lent. But it's not so hard because shrimp is a pretty easy workaround for people who want it.
You can do it 🙂
Taco Bell is vile 👎
Studying over infinite pancakes at IHOP 🙂
Huh?you can now.
It goes back to the ancient Jewish tradition. Non-fish meats were always a luxury in Jewish culture and saved for feast days; lots of the people back then were fishermen and lived off of that, and obviously couldn't survive if they went off of that, as that was pretty much their entire diet and livelihood. The idea is to avoid unnecessary luxuries, and back then, those kinds of meat definitely qualified as a luxury. Those kinds of meats were still a luxury really even up until 100-150 years ago, so we keep the tradition alive today 🙂I never understood that. I mean, you know shrimp are meat, right?

yep. it's no longer mandatory outside of lentHuh?
Why do my Catholic friends act like I'm going to hell whenever I eat meat on Fridays in Lent, if it's just some harmless old tradition? 😕

🙄 Seriously.
I went to catholic school PreSchool-12th and it could be argued that I am in one in college now (it's private now..was once catholic). The majority of us left high school much less religious then when we entered.
OK. 👍
You know what's funny? I went to Catholic school for like 10 years?![]()
Bah. I only have 2 to hear back from and it is going to STINGGGGG!Rejection central in about 3 weeks 😎
Lol. That's sad, but not uncommon from what I know from a lot of my friends who did the whole Catholic school thing. I wish they did a better job of teaching to the spirit of the religion rather than just focusing on all the rules and doctrine.
I think doctrine is important because it tells us where we come from and the beliefs set forth in them are actually pretty well-thought-through. But it's not everything, and I think some of the people in the schools forget the reason for the doctrine in the first place =/

in good news-my friend got into Law School today. at least I can celebrate that!
oh and i am playing the "Assassins" game with my APO chapter and my kill got reinstated cause of a previously undefined rule. Now I have to try an kill someone who is not only paranoid that someone is after them...but who actually knows that this someone is me.
when the referee emailed me telling me that he is reinstating her, all I could say was: boo you *****!
I dunno, I don't find it that sad. I go to a Lutheran college and I'm much less religious now than I was when I first came. My required religion class really did me in, dissecting the Bible in detail is extremely revealing, and not in a good way.
it is even worse since we are doing it in teams and not 30 seconds after I "killed" my target...her partner knew. Now they are both watching me like a pair of hawks. Oh and my friends are claiming Switzerland. I have the worst friends.A choir at my school plays Assassins and it's hilarious to watch. People stop eating in public, send friends to class as scouts to make sure the coast is clear, change their exercise and sleeping habits... it's hardcore! 😱
I took Old Testament and New Testament in college at a non-Christian school. I definitely understand how that class could have that effect. For me, it just taught me that you can't take the Bible as a literal history.

Yeah, well, it pretty much wrapped the whole mess up for me. I basically just believe in people taking care of people and in doing the best job we can do while we're here. Life becomes more meaningful when you realize how truly short it is, not less. We don't need eternal life to make a lasting impact on this world. The whole heaven idea is incredibly selfish and, quite frankly, ridiculous.
Just my opinion, take it fwiw. If it's heresy to you, just ignore it. 😉
No developed feeder system. No competitive college hockey. In history, I believe Finland has beat the US two or less times and perhaps Canada no times. Sweden has also beat the US once or twice and Canada only once. How is Russia so bad in women's hockey?
not to many people do. Sorta sad cause I love it.I don't care.
Yeah. Not a good idea. The IOC is likely to drop the sport if other countries cant become more competitive. Canada has been training China and the US has been recruiting more European players….but its still not good enough.damn, canada beat slovakia 18-0, let's see if we can top it
Don't want to offend anyone as I respect all religious faiths... but... I agree 100%.
I can't make myself buy into it... believe me, I have tried. Very hard. It would be much easier if I could just go back to what I used to believe, but the logical part of my brain is much too persistent.
btws...I really like palindromic and symmetric numbers. I get super excited when I see 22:22 or 22:55 on the treadmill when I run. lol
(also like multiples of minutes in seconds but that's a bit higher level of crazy)

Yeah, I totally understand that idea. I definitely find it sad, but I've gone through phases where I thought that might be right. Definitely not anyone's place to judge, IMO.Yeah, well, it pretty much wrapped the whole mess up for me. This happened to me after spending 15 years at a Baptist school. After I escaped, I went through a religious rebellion of sorts, not going to church, etc. Now, I'm finally getting back into the swing of it. I'm not Baptist and I disagree with some of the Baptist teaching (but mostly how they taught us), so I just had to get away altogether.
Alright guys, I gotta do HW. See you around 12 maybe.
those are nice.I really like it when numbers come out nicely when they don't have to... protein concentrations of exactly 100, bills of exactly $20.00, etc. 😛
It is going to be really weird when I run 100 minutes. I think the world will stop turning for a second. I dunno...I anticipate something dramatic.wow unc is getting crushed-59-33 vs georgia tech
i like to observe the numbers on the treadmill when i'm running too🙂 except i like to do the math to figure out exactly how many seconds it'll take to go 1/100th of a mile, 1/10th, etc, and figure out the exact time i'll be done with whatever distance i'm going...wow i'm a dork haha
I have PBL for the first time in a month tommorow![]()
are of these skaters slipping/falling?
There's a skeleton skating around on my TV.
did you see the montage about the russian skater who is returning to the sport after retirement? he talked about his enemies, rivals being angry at him, they're after him...jeez you would think he's russian kgb or something, not a male ice skater. maybe that's how they train (brain wash?) them at young age in russia.
i know you meant this as a joke but after people actually accusing me of being a commie that kind of stings 🙁did you see the montage about the russian skater who is returning to the sport after retirement? he talked about his enemies, rivals being angry at him, they're after him...jeez you would think he's russian kgb or something, not a male ice skater. maybe that's how they train (brain wash?) them at young age in russia.

...as I said in my post...I am aware of that. Not trying to cause a scene just being sads at the people that actually mean that crap.they are probably kidding![]()
