he's fat enough that he might be, but actually i think he just hunts whatever's on my dinner plate. sometimes i have to eat in my bathroom. I am not kidding, he'll keep lunging for whatever's on my plate and i have to be hypervigilant to make sure he doesn't run off with a slice of bread or something

Had greek food at lab group meeting. Delicious. Had to explain the difference between resistors in parallel and series to a tutee 5 different ways and still not confident she actually gets it. Ridiculous.

A friend of mine is friends with a girl whose sole reason for going to medschool is to get married to a doctor. That girl must enjoy pain.

Just got waitlisted at Vanderbilt. This one definitely stings the most.

We (collectively) spend 5+ hours every day talking, yet I talk to people in public for 30 seconds and they get to see what I look like. Why on earth would it be immoral to share a picture of myself doing something I enjoy with you? People sure are strange.... 😎

...I might also mention that I have multiple photos posted to my profile anyway, so it's not like I was posting something taboo. Anyone can click on my handle and see an entire album of photos if they wanted to. I figure that I spend a lot of time on SDN advising people, sharing my stories, etc...it seems only natural for people to be able to associate my ramblings with a face/name. I hope that doesn't offend anyone too much...

thanks! between evms and penn state, i'm 90% sure it'll be evms unless something crazy happens with financial aid-i just like the location way better. as far as the ones i'm waitlisted at:

-dartmouth is my top choice and i'll definitely go there if accepted.
-downstate's probably next due to financial reasons (at least 100k less than everywhere but dartmouth) and i love nyc.
-georgetown's third-i'd definitely go there over evms/penn state

then as far as einstein, uvm, wake, and temple it's really a toss up and i like them all for different reasons. i could really see myself at any of them and don't know if i'd go to them over evms.

i'm still very much confused and up in the air as you can see!😛

One of our transgenic lines is in danger (the PCR randomly stopped working a few months ago) and so I've been trying to troubleshoot the PCR in a bunch of ways.

So I have like an hour left in lab. It's nice though. Kinda zen.

Agreed, although I may be working as low payed university lab slave over the summer.

Yeah. There are some competative research programs out there (NIH, some hopsitals and phamaceutical companies), but if you do research at your school you are pretty much guaranteed to get a spot.

It's funny how you guys talk about this stuff I've only read in text books. I'm kinda glad I did other research, though, cuz nobody knows anything about it at interviews.

My research mostly involves growing bacteria and seeing if I can starve it lol.
Today...one of the PhD candidates was giving her talk on nucleotide polymers....for 2 and half hours. I wished I only read that in a textbook...at least you could close it and pick it back up later. No inconspicuous way of slinking away when every other group member is facing you too.

That's nice to know. I can't stand bench/lab research, but I am very interested to maybe do something clinical in med school. You can't do that as an undergrad, especially in a town where there are no research hospitals.

I am perfectly ok with my obnoxiousness, I enjoy it in fact. I guess while we are on the subject...noone ever admit to being cranky in front of me....I love cranky people (making them crankier that is...cause it is funny).
