That's how I'm gonna be after med-school.

A patient: "So you're a doctor?"

Me: "Yeah, I passed med-school, no big-deal."

Patient: "So does medicine take a lot of sacrifice of your life?"

Me: "Naw man. I come to the office, ask you whats wrong with you, then drive to my big-as$ house in my maserati. Yeah, the maserati is nice."

yeah i got all that free crap at the interview day too, but washu literally just sent me a pretty nice pen (in its own box) with an invitation to second look. wtf

yes dook!! i really thought both my interviewers hated me. shocked right now

congratulations_0907.jpg

I accepted. I have no idea what to do... I just randomly picked 4 teams. And I know nothing about college bball, so I just picked 3 random ones and my own college. haha.

I don't know anything either and I don't think I care anymore now that my team didn't advance.

I was stunned that Sandra Bullock won best actress; I thought for sure that was going to the girl from Precious, or if not, then Meryl Streep or the actress from An Education.

It wasn't very surprising to see Avatar not win, but I was a little annoyed that The Hurt Locker won such a ridiculous amount. I feel kind of compelled to watch it now, but I'm a little worried it won't live up to the hype; it seems like politically charged movies always win at the Oscars, no matter how irrational that choice may be, because the Academy feels the need to make some stupid statement.

I very much enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone.

I have this song stuck in my head is what is up:

Yeah. Computer programs always give everyone fits. I remember working at a Dentist's office and she switched her entire system. Everything changed and I missed the training, so I had no idea how to digitally file the x-rays, schedule patients, chart their periodontal work, etc. It's all about getting used to a new computer system. I was doing my EMT clinicals in a well-known Michigan hospital and they had just switched systems and one of the docs in the trauma room was trying to order a CT scan for the level-1 trauma patient and he couldn't do it and just started freaking out and yelling at the computer and throwing stuff across the trauma room. It was intense. (That is also finding itself a way into my P.S.)

I would love a 24 hour shift once a week as an EMT. Get some more hands on experience with patients, get the adrenaline rush of lights and sirens, and make some chedda' to pay for booze with.

And everyone says gels are easy once you get used to them; I've just never been taught how to do them, so I literally had to play with all the equipment until I figured out how to make them on my own just by looking at the protocol...

that's hysterically funny now, not at that moment i'm sure. crazy stories from the er.

EMT work seems pretty cool. i have a friend who works full time. he really like its, adrenaline junkie too.

Hey i posted that exact dino for you a couple pages ago.. Sans hat..

The only Russian song I've heard was something about purple... I'll have to see if I can find it. It was awful.
thanks for the dino contribition....

Yeah. I was deciding between getting my EMT-B or doing phlebotomy and my parents wanted me to do phlebotomy, so I did the EMT-B. I enjoyed the program a lot and think I will enjoy the job as well. I rescheduled the interview, so hopefully I do well. Apparently they give you a test right on the spot during the interview, so we will see how I fair.

Honestly, I do way too much to try to pad my application.

i think you have to get through the first 45 min of district 9 to really enjoy it, i thought the acting was great. its kinda like snatch in the way that it starts out really slow and confusing

I've tried to watch Snatch twice and I couldn't do it. I only saw the first 30 minutes of District 9, so I guess I could handle it.

Story: District 9 > Avatar

Everything else: Avatar > District 9

Well that's pretty easy since Avatar has one of the crappiest stories ever. It's really amazing how the movie is still awesome when it's crippled by that horrible storyline.

Nvm, I got it guys. Met I'm goin to msg you for the bracket.

I think I already invited you on Facebook, yo.

i drove home listening to the radio, justin bierber was on. that kid has swagger i could never imagine of having.

So I've heard about him, what's the big deal?

He was on MTV's Silent Library the other day. I can't stand his music to be honest. He's like twelve and he's singing about relationships and love... Really? We're listening to a twelve year old sing about relationships?

That's dumb, I hate when kid musicians do that.

That's how I'm gonna be after med-school.

Nice - I like this. Almost as good as "My douchebaggery will become apparent as soon as I get accepted"

Sweet. I really need to get to the slopes at least once this season.

I've never gone. 🙁

I've never seen more than an itty bitty bit of snow.

ha, shoulda applied late then. you'd get later interviews to those northern cities and you'd see snow. that's how i saw snow for the first time in like 12 years.

Do you go often? I imagine you have to travel pretty far to do that.

No. 🙁 I used to go every year with the fam. Then we got busy. When two years ago with my bf at the time. Getting back on skis was like riding a bike. Even though I hadn't skied in 11 years, I was keeping up fine. I think that may be why I like it. It's not easy, but it's easy to remember, I guess.

i've never skiied, but it sounds diff from skating. i didn't skate for a long time and when i skated again it was almost like learning it all over again.

Not exercising today.. I'm giving my ankle a bit of a break since it's been really unhappy lately.

Everyone else hasn't been posting much work out stuff... Go!!! Get movin'!!!

Someone in the Iowa thread mentioned that a psych paper could be published based just on the behavior of posters on SDN forums. Perhaps: "Prevalence of Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior in Premedical Students." What do you think?

I did an exercise class today.

Where did you guys used to go?

Lots of places. Taos, Winter Park, other places I can't remember. I know we went to Winter Park more than once, but other than that, we'd go new places every time.

Two years ago, we went to Salt Lake City, and skied at Alta and Snowbird. I really liked those.

Thank you, RunningDiva for giving me something else to procastinate with, i.e. CraigsList for apartments...

hehee no prob 👍

Cool. How is Taos? That's in New Mexico, right? Haven't heard much about it.

I hate it when my roommate skimps out on her dish-washing turn. I'm going to be eating my oatmeal in a mug tonight.
