i would have to look at the finances but the living expenses in columbus <<< miami

i would actually go to suny downstate over the U and maybe louisville if the $$$ was less but dont think it would be. brooklyn is too expensive for what you get

I'm kind of the opposite, which is why I will drink caffeine-free Diet Cokes at my parents' house. Sometimes I just want the taste of a soft drink without the caffeine effects.
 
damn, really. i like diet cokes > cokes because it has less taste and more caffeine. however, i would get a caffeine drip if i could

trying to cut back though, i dont really need it. but i love pulling all nighters all jittery and stuff. rush rush
 
I saw Sammich today for the third and last time of my trip! It was both 🙂 and 🙁 at the same time. It was also the only full day that wasn't an absolute hurricane.

I like Diet Cokes > Cokes because I feel the instant need to brush my teeth after drinking a Coke.

But sometimes, you just want a Coke, you know? I've done a pretty damn good job of giving up soft drinks for Lent.

I can't stand the taste of diet coke. Coke Zero on the other hand is amazing.

Speaking of feeling jittery while studying, I just read 80 pages of physiology in 3 hours. :boom:

Still feel like I have another 10 hours of studying I need to do for this kidney exam though :bang: :smack:

Is it wrong that my backup plan is Wayne State's med-school? My best friends mom is "really high up" on the admissions committee as well as in alumni affairs for the med-school and told me she could do me a favor. Like, I don't know how serious to take her, but like everyone asks what's your backup plan if you don't get into med-school and all I can think is WSUSOM.

No, but you want to get your MCAT score to confirm that. Since my score was up in the air, I didn't know about my chances at various schools.

Once I got my scores, I figured that LSU was a lock for an interview and most likely an acceptance provided I wasn't an ass at the interview. Sound douchey? Well, I don't care, because that's just how it is regarding med school admissions in LA. That's why my first acceptance wasn't really a big deal. I feel bad saying this when there are people that would die to get in anywhere, but the simple fact is that schools here just aren't as competitive as in NY, CA, etc...
 
Yeah, I'm just a realist. Higher stats gets in, I'm like a WashU adcomm.

Well the thing is, I might not have to do so hot on the MCAT to get my in. Like, I wanna get a 45T, but I mean realistically, a 36 probably won't do me any better than a 34. Seriously, it feels like I need a 38+ to have a shot at U of M and I really wanna stay in state. Watch next year you're going to see a thread started by me, Toledo vs. Wayne State...
I think I'm just demoralized, I hate having classes where a 99% is a 4.0 and a 90% is a 3.5 (anthropology) which make me feel like my gpa is never going to get higher. Bleh.
 
JJ, i got lucky and got MLB.tv online premium service that covers all games for the entire year for $20. watched the phillies spring training against tigers and verlander today. dominic brown killed it with 2 homeruns. he's gonna be a beast

you never know. dontrelle willis is actually doing decent right now which would be huge. everything depends on our pitching. i'm surprised we're actually hitting the ball decent right now.

OU baseball on the other hand, not so hot. our 2 wins, memphis and dayton. i think we have 8 losses tho. 3 to old miss, 2 to memphis, and 1 to wright state.

If they would've given me $3k more I for sure would've went for undergrad. Unfortunately OU lured me with the whole free college thing.

All my boys are @ UM though. They all live by the stadium cause a bunch've em are athletes. The only unfortunate thing about U of M is that the attractiveness of the females doesn't compete w/ OU or State, but don't worry all the girls from state head up to U of M for welcome week, so you gotta take advantage of it.

:laugh: Nice... I went to a so-so undergrad for the financial aid, so no loans entering med school. I'm ready for a bigger pond, though. 👍

And hey, you don't need tons of smart, personable, attractive females to be happy. Just one. 😍

I actually don't know who Dr. H is so unless someone provides a link to his bloggy thing, I'm going to have to default to Sherlock.

:laugh: You're right, it's down. I pulled down my specifics, but I'm slightly above UMich's averages for GPA and MCAT.

Man, that place had me hooked from day one. I've never had an interview day even coming close to rivaling UM's. 😛 They'd have to really lowball me with financial aid for me to go anywhere else.

Here's to constant anxiety until the 25th... :meanie:

Yeah, Ann Arbor is absolutely amazing. I'll try to go there for law school if this health insurance bill passes anytime soon.
 
I should have applied to UM for ****s and giggles.

Maybe my Hispanic-ness would have helped me out there. Oakland, are there a lot of Spanish-y types at UM or in MI in general?

There's a small minority of them. At U of M, I mainly see asians, indians, jewish americans, and white people, as well as a surprising amount of African Americans. I personally know an African American who had a 3.4 gpa and a 23 ACT who got in to U of M and another one who had a 26 ACT who got into the honors college. Mind you I had a 30+ ACT and did not get into the honors college. I'm sure there are some hispanics, but not a significant amount at least from what I have noticed in my numerous visits to Ann Arbor.

Michigan is extremely diverse. In metro detroit you will see everything from hispanics, asians, indians, whites, blacks, arabs, jews, balkans, russians, polish etc. Literally it's like cities are broken down by race. There are cities with all arabs, all african americans, all hispanics. There's a subdivision with like 99% indian people living in it. Certain malls are populated by certain races. It's really diverse though in main industrial areas.
 
So I think rather than deal with the SLU interview, I'll use the money to go to the FSU open house that same weekend.
