Someone doesn't know their Islam very well. What do some muslims believe they get 72 of in heaven if they were faithful to Islam? The answer is that some muslims believe they 72 virgins if they are martyred in the name of the religion.

Not gonna lie I think that would be hilarious, I just don't know if I really want all that chalk on my hands before a test. The prof might get suspicious lol. That would be really funny though, especially if I were wearing a Lebron jersey.

P.S. floatie, be careful about where you throw around that interesting bit of islam, it can offend some people pretty easily. That being said, I know a lot of muslims by association and through different arab organizations and I can assure you it's factual.

I don't want to debate and am not a religious scholar nor do I want to be. That is why I posted a video on the issue.

Edit: Actually it was wrong of me to generalize or categorize what an entire religion believes in. I know of muslims who do believe that way and of some that don't and it is not a difference between shi'ite or sunni beliefs, but I think it's more of a personal choice in belief. So, agree to disagree bleargh, and to correct my earlier post "what some muslims get"

from what i can tell the person's military garb i'm going to assume it's some kind of al-qaeda type propaganda. the fact that you would even post such a clip as some sort of explanation of islam is 1) completely preposterous and 2) plain stupid.

To assume a man dressed that way is part of a terrorist organization is incredibly insensitive to the way arabs dress. Me being an arab am now actually offended.

The video is of many different people from different backgrounds, but again you choose not to watch it which is very fair. The part with the person dressed in the way you described as an "al-qaeda" propoganda is only 10 seconds of the video.

It would be wrong to assume just because a few people feel one way that they represent a majority. That is why I included the edit.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to a different person from the video. Yes, the guy on the "cover" of the video is dressed militarily, my bad I was watching the video and assumed you meant someone else. There's women on the video as well though that are not dressed like militia if that makes it less of a terrorist propaganda in your opinion. (Most Islamic terrorist organizations would not allow women to speak on their behalf due to religious purposes).

I really can't complain about the wait- several people I know (with much better scores/qualifications) haven't been accepted anywhere yet. I really admire their determination because I know how easy it is to focus on the negative...

If they hadn't said Tuesday, I wouldn't be so bummed. I just feel like I have been staring at my phone for nearly 2 weeks straight- first it was the 3rd, then last Tuesday...you know the drill. I want to be placed in a coma for the next 3-4 months and wake up when it's all over, pretty please?? 😛

Heh, I am not so sure. My faculty interview there wasn't great- which is why I told you earlier that I would probably take UCSD if I had to choose today (Hopkins is secretly my #1 choice, but I am trying to balance optimism with realism and not being heartbroken. Same with UCLA, since I was WLed there.)

Are you near LA by any chance? Want to grab a drink next week/weekend? I have been curious to meet the people that I have been chatting with on here for so long 😀 (hope that doesn't make me a creeper for asking, lol)

Ms Perry, one day at a time, or yes, it will drive you crazy. This is an incredibly long process.

For coma, I recommend chilled Kettle One vodka on ice or shaken with a lime.

i will totally join the waitlist support group. the waiting is so frusturating, even though like you mentioned i'm sooo happy to have been accepted somewhere at least. they should just do a match system like for residency so we don't have to drag out not knowing our fate for over a year!
