I just saw this commercial for the first time...hilarious.

how do I post this as an embedded video?

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Rammstein. 😍

Rammstein takes their name indirectly from the German town of Ramstein-Miesenbach, the site of the flight show disaster on 28 August 1988. The band's signature song, "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the disaster.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Rammstein. 😍

I actually lived in Landstuhl, about 2 km from Ramstein-Miesenbach, but was stationed at Ramstein Air Base. Wonderful place to live for two years. Lots of Rammstein and festivals with large Oktoberfest steins.

Stein, you've got some sick decisions to make! congrats! I'm not sure I could handle that many good choices.

Thanks! I'm hoping my decision gets easier next week when Michigan releases their financial aid packages. It could be a very good or a very bad day. I'll keep you guys posted. 😉

I'm headed nach Deutschland for a month in May on tour with my school's concert band. German beer awaits! 😀

:luck::xf::luck::xf::luck: for UMich!!!

:luck::xf::luck::xf::luck: for UMich!!!

Thanks!! I'm starting to get nervous... the whole 'future being decided in less than a week' thing is intense. :scared: Nothing I can do at this point though.

If they give me a crappy package, would it be better to call right away or send an e-mail to tell them what other schools have offered? Or would I want to wait a while? 😕

I don't know if waiting would help in that situation. Either they will offer you more or they won't. It must suck being out of state though. Their instate tuition is the cheapest in Michigan 😎

When is the Tulane second look? Maybe I'll make my way back to NOLA then to meet up with some people.

Idk if Taty is going, and there are actually two. I'm going to the one April 15th-16th. It's like a dinner Thursday night and just a day thing on Friday.

I'd do it right away. Don't give them a chance to give those monies to other people.

You know you want Michigan, Stein - you should do it.

I'm going to find a way to get there, I just hope the money makes everything fit nicely. :xf: My EFC is really low, so I'm hoping need-based aid comes through if nothing else.

This may be looking too far into the future, but the Michigan state schools are a really sweet deal in every way imaginable. My SO will be doing her PhD for the next 6 years, so I would very much like to stay and do residency at UMich as well if I can swing it (probably Internal Med, which they rock at). I wouldn't mind staying in the state even beyond that if it were a possibility... Michigan is gorgeous. But that's just me, I like to plan things waaay too far in advance.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think if I had to I'd man up and call the director of admissions and have a nice chat about why he wants me at Michigan.

Have you seen Metro Detroit? I just ask because Ann-Arbor is cool and all, but I would rather raise a family where I live right now. Plus there's a bunch of great hospitals in the suburbs of Detroit. If you haven't seen what Metro Detroit has to offer you have to allow me to give you a tour at some point.

To add on to Stein's question? Do you contact the financial aid office? Admissions committee? Both?

I'd say the Dean of admissions. They usually oversee the scholarship money process. At many state schools there is a standard grant amount for OOS (more) and IS that fin aid offers based on EFC. But admissions screens and usually recommends for scholarship monies.

It totally is. You get around to watching the series yet?:d
Not yet! It's on my list. ST TNG has pushed other series to the shelf for a bit tho! 😀

I'm crafting a letter of intent. Wish me luck!! :luck::xf::luck::xf::luck:

Where should I stop for the evening/night on my way to Richmond?

Greensboro, Chapel Hill, or Durham?

What do you want to do? Chapel Hill/Carrboro is great, but not many cheap places to stay within walking distance of downtown. I could definitely recommend some places to eat/drink. Durham is getting better. Don't know much about Gboro.

there's actually nothing in durham

chapel hill, franklin street is pretty cool though... kind of a college town

can't wait for the "oh well, atleast we have higher SAT scores" gchat status from the cornell kids

I love you all.
and i am drunky drunk
quick ask me something before it wears off!

Well, Chapel Hill it is - I'll just be staying for one night, so maybe I could get one of the nicer hotels downtown by the university.

I've heard it's a nice place, so I'd like to check it out a little bit. Too bad I couldn't go there.

That was where I was thinking, since it's on campus and close to the other stuff.

Anything else there you would recommend for evening, night, or morning?

it might be like $250 a night, from what i've read, so call them for like a discount rate

there is also the Franklin. new and swanky between Chapel Hill and Carrboro. might be some less pricey options in carrboro...lots to do there as well. it's the more artsy/eclectic and just down Franklin street from CH. same town really.

and a great view of Franklin. Carolina Brewery has better beer and decent bar food. Milltown has an incredible beer selection and phenomenal food, outdoor seating and reasonable prices.

i've been. i like their amber beer, good stuff

hey jacksonian. what did you cook for dinner tonight?

violin's the good cook, not i-i can pretty much only make eggplant lasagna and chicken haha. i'm living at home for the year so my dad cooks me yummy food though🙂 tonight it was burgers from the grill with swiss cheese and onion rings. one of my goals for next year is to learn to cook!
