Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, I know, I'll need it. I'm hoping that by march when I start surgery it will still be light out by the time I get home. My brother (surgery resident) says the worst part is never seeing the sun because you get there before it rises and leave after ir sets 🙁

Sounds like living in Alaska.

that would take some getting used to.

Today was my last day of undergraduate classes. Just have finals next week, then Europe!

Man I wanted to go to Greece in July - but none of my friends can make it. They fall into two types:

A. Are in the corporate world. Therefore they have the money... but not the vacation days.

B. They are poor college students who are off to med school shortly. So they have the time/days off... but not the money

:bang:

Greece/spain are the two places I missed on my last backpacking trip through europe (after undergrad graduation in 2005). Really want to check those two places out before I have no vacation for the rest of my life

Do you guys have ANY vacation after m1? I'm going to try to spend a week in spain sometime soon, I really miss Barcelona, one of my favorite cities ever.

NOLA's not good enough for you? 🙁

when is NOLA btw? i fall into the category of loving to travel but not having the time so i might just be able to squeeze in the euro trip and thats a big [hopefully] i just really wanna do something outside US before i start med school..

if i train people to cover me at work maybe i'll add more travel, it would be awesome to meet up with you guys in NOLA!! and i still say we do a cali reunion too 😉

Too much travelling!

In other news, I logged onto my WashU finaid thing, and it has my parent contribution as more than my parents bring home in salary during a year (granted they do have a bit of money in investments). Please someone tell me this is a cruel joke.

Whaaaat? How the heck does that happen? I mean, I suppose it could happen if both of your parents are unemployed since 0<<< but that's just weird.

Sounds like living in Alaska.

That would mean you don't leave the house for half a year 😉

we're all free ppl this summer, we can have as many unions as we want!

Adding it to my to do list, im so dowwwwn 👍

Assuming Iceland doesn't explode in the next few weeks, I should be in the Blue Lagoon in about a month, at the end of my trip. It's our last stop before home. PLEASE volcano-with-crazy-name, just relax for at least a month! :xf::xf:

July 5-12 is still the current plan, but we probably need to start thinking about solidifying this stuff.

I say we move the NOLA meet up trip spatially

to Europe somewhere

haha my pockets aint THAT deep

heh the only problem.. by the time our pockets ARE that deep we might not have enough time.

umm, seems like my previous post didn't come out right, i didn't wanna use reunion because we've never met before....

i wanna visit this place in china, we'll see if i can get to it....

Those colorful pools remind me of Yellowstone... some kind of geothermal activity going down there.

Looks like an algae bloom.. or copper?

Dammit jim I'm a doctor not a Oceanologist!

Sorry - hadn't used that in a while

dang, i wanna visit there too, ahhhh not enough money!

For me it's either Yellowstone or California. Looking like California right now, but I could go with the gf to Yellowstone maybe.

I really hope I get some money for all this stuff. Or I could just put it on credit cards and pay it off when I get loans. That would be worth it.

that wouldn't be a bad idea....especially if you're going to a fairly cheap school, then you wouldn't feel guilty about it

Yellowstone is awesome, and actually very cheap. I highly recommend it. We did a family vacation there many years ago and I really want to go back. You can do hiking in the Tetons too while you're in the neighborhood. 👍

wow snoop was amazing. the guy just knew how to entertain. you gotta see him live if you get a chance, he is better live than on song.

cudi, on the other hand, has a great voice and a catalogue but just can't really entertain the crowd/too inexperienced

man, my parents kept on criticizing me for spending money, "what, you're not even making money yet and you already wanna live large?" so i kinda feel guilty about spending money, even for just getting a nice apartment or some decent furniture.

unfortunately when we do get to live large we wont be in our 20's anymore 🙄

Exactly.

Yellowstone is sort of on the way to California... haha.

Trust me, I already looked into that.

I wish I had like a month to go to southern California and drive all the way north to the Olympic peninsula. Then cut through Glacier and Yellowstone on the way south toward Denver and then head back. That would be a great American roadtrip.

My parents don't really criticize me, but they don't understand why I want a nice place and all these trips and stuff. I'll only be young once, and the school is cheap, so taking out max COA really isn't a big deal.

give him time.

what can't snoop do? if he was an announcer for any sport the ratings would go up instantly.

Yea true, I'm def thinking it over. I've never had a credit card before, so is it fine if I wait a few months to start paying? Or pay in installments?

I've had a credit card for a little over 2 years now. I just buy random stuff with it that I know I have the money for, and pay it off in full every month. For the first 6 months I had zero interest and just let it all pile up, but still making sure I had the money to pay it all off after 6 months.

I've never paid interest on it.

What? Are you saying they do not offer sub stafford + unsub stafford + grad plus up to the total cost of attendance?

so you only pay interest if you pay it off after a month, am i getting this right?

If you pay the bill off in full every month, you don't pay interest. So if you have $400 balance and your minimum payment is $20, you'll pay interest if you pay anything less than $400 but you still need to pay at least $20.
