haha...during my orgo test i had a mechanical one and it kept breaking every 2 seconds..i thrw it down and grabbed a good ol wooden one:meanie:
 
i like sharpening pencils and i like having different softness and shades. beats a pen anyday. also, just a lot easier with erasing.

I started the 10 week 'home study' schedule last week (I'm more than 10 weeks out, but i figure there's no point in waiting in case I hit some rough patches.) which i'm sure will happen.

PS - I finished my first draft over Christmas. I plan on having a second by the end of my 5-day Mardi Gras weekend.

MCAT - hopefully done forever. Scores come out in 10/11 days!!

I don't mind the wooden ones, but I'm a mechanical pencil girl myself. I can't imagine using a real pencil for math classes. Too much sharpening! And speaking of erasing... does anyone else hate holding those huge erasers?? It's one of my least favorite textures in the world. Clicky erasers are the shiv, though.
 
you mean those stupid pen looking things that you have click/eject an eraser from the end and use to clean your marks? no thanks, i am all about the mars staedler hi polymer erasers.

speaking of which, i am big on the softer leads, and so a #1 pencil is what im after. they dont sell them in stores so i purchased a box from the internets. wow, what a friday night!
 
Not much better than mine. I'm in a hotel room in Fort Worth, TX reading applications for awards. I'm at a conference for the Southwest Affliate of College and University Residence Halls and I have to vote on this stuff tomorrow. Hooray for late nights and mornings that start before 7!!!

fascinating, I don't know about that one. I'm just very involved.

Haha I love Tuesdays and Thursdays because I don't have to get up until 8:30 because I have a 9 am class. MWF, I'm in class at 7:30.

1 application graded, 7 to go before I can hit the sack.

i think no matter what, ill somehow end up in surgery. i cannot take my eyes off that stuff its so cool.

I love surgery too. So awesome to watch! But idk if the lifestyle is for me.

Can't we be both the coolest and the lamest??? I mean I don't really have many options of cool things to do when I'm stuck in a hotel room.
 
how did i not know about the fray's new album being released? what year is it?

i didnt really know what to do with the ice either, but it was fun to run hot water on it in the sink. also, you can chew on it or make ice coffee since you have a coffee machine.

also gmail has themes, but heres the big news - you can customize the theme colors yourself now, i made it green and brown.

it is just us, the kingdom is asleep

I need to get to bed soon too. Early morning tomorrow. I can't finish this all tonight. I drove 8 hours today. Then sat through a 3 hour meeting. Focusing is very hard right now. Night night!!

i like green and brown b/c it reminds me of soil and plants as odd as that sounds lol

i dont know about everyone else but in my case, the pressure is on from my committee. we have to have 4 letters in to the committee by the beginning of april, so i am asking for my LORs asap because i know how professors sometimes take for-ever to do them 🙂 thats where my PS comes in because i told everyone i asked a letter for that i'd be 'happy to provide a copy of my PS and CV to help with the LOR' and of course they all said great, id love to see it! oops, so now i am trying to get a good draft done by next week.

it IS early but i'll be glad not to have to worry about it later. i figure i can give a bit longer draft to my letter-writers and worry about editing it down for amcas later.

PS- Vague Ideas, plan to write 1st rough draft over spring break

MCAT- Using Kaplan online course to study, taking April 18, which is so close it scares me.

i offered my PS because i am afraid that my CV is not so impressive . . . i figure that perhaps my PS will convince them i'm not useless 🙁 so i better write it lol.

i dont really know how to write a CV, or what to put in it- i don't have any publications yet. how did you all format yours, what did you include? only academic stuff, or everything- work, volunteering etc? are there any good resources with a guideline of how to do it?
 
if you dont have any publications or academic awards, its just a resume. you arnt even really required to have one. i made a basic resume with some coursework and accomplishments and clubs/organizations ive been involved with. nothing special there.
 
yea i was just going to give them my resume with some form of a write up..i dont know if this will be my PS or not.. I just kinda wanted to outline for them what I want to be a doctor..without having to make it sound super perfect like i would need to for the PS..
 
only 2 more months till my MCAT and i'm still getting the same score. well....i've only taken 3 practice exam and still in my prep course. i'm getting really really nervous!!!!
 
i have 2 more months too and am still on content review. dont be nervous..u will do great!! =) keep on practicing and im sure you will get your dream score =))

just got back from the library. kinda sucks that it closes at 5 on sundays but whatev. i still have to do some catch up reading for tuesdays princeton review class, but ive got some time to take it easy
 
didnt wake up until 3 todya! =)

trying to catch up on a few study mateirals today..yesterday i was feeling super lazy but was able to do atleast a few content quizzes on kaplan..writing my PS has been on my mind but we will see about that =)

i go from feelign super pumped to anxios and scared to super pumped again! lol =)

hi everyone! how was everyone's weekend? i can't believe it's over and the school week start again tomorrow 🙁

out of curiosity...should I buy some examkracker stuff in addition to my princeton mcat prep course? some people said that examkracker verbal books are good. i seriously need help with verbal. having a difficult time with it.

im starting a kaplan course in march but bought the EK physics and verbal to supplement..i like them a lot..oh and audio osmosis is great too!

its like facebook status. you can put what you are doing, or say anything youd like in 140 characters. its built on a separate platform and thus has its own little world of social networking. lately its been getting a lot of attention b/c of its rapid information sharing ability such as with world news and chinese citizens being able to evade government blocks on information.

First - regular pencils rock. Second - mars staedler hi polymer erasers rock.

For a third, pretty much everything mars staedler rocks.

i miss waitressing . . . did it through 2-3 years of undergrad but had to give it up for grad school. but my plan for affording secondaries/applying to med school is: finish spring semester, take mcat, fill out amcas, then get a job at some downtown bar and work my unholy ass off to pay for all my applications 🙂 secondaries by day, bar employee by night? i hope it works. though i imagine tips are much worse now that everyone's broke.

time to go listen to Audio Osmosis til I fall asleep . . . is anyone else starting to feel like their only friends are Jon and Jordan? Sometimes I even laugh at their lame jokes now- I resisted for a long time. God, I'm a nerd. 😎
 
right there with u on the audio osmosis. i think its sad when u know which jokes are coming when lol. =)
 
haha yeah i listened to my friends audio osmosis for a few minutes and put it down and said 'no, i dont care, ill never do that again,' and now i just listen to classical music when im focusing on reading instead. worked pretty good so far!
 
and in recent news: i spent a few minutes searching for my pencil on my desk, the floor, my pockets, behind me and it was tucked behind my ear. has this happened to anyone as of late?
 
i would have to say no on the pencil front but i have gone into someone else's car and tried to drive it before realizing that it was def. not my car and also leaving my shopping bags in this persons car =) that too on my bday =)
 
was their car the same as yours, and completely unlocked?
 
yup for wtvr i could tell hehe..i unlocked my car and it beeped and i could have sworn it was my car until i saw all these things that werent mine. the car owner must have been really wierded out because i definitely left a bag of just bought girlie clothes in the car and im pretty sure the car belonged to a guy. =)
 
I dont listen to Audio Osmosis when I'm actually studying. I listen to it in the car and when I go to sleep. I figure its a win-win: the stress as of late has been making it kinda hard for me to sleep sometimes. So if I listen to AO when I go to bed, I either get some extra knowledge in while I lie awake, or Jon and Jordan's soothing voices talking about ungodly boring crap lull me to sleep . . .
 
why would anybody listen to something while they are sleeping?

While you fall asleep! I usually listen to music. I don't know how I'd do trying to sleep listening to talking, but I know it helps you remember stuff subconsciously and such.
