Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
this is how I made my decision

MD only
full summer vacation(s)
take out as much debt, live it up and not really care
not go to class for 2 years, take exams, 3rd year work ass off, 4th year do away rotations on a boat
match into specialty to make bank in nyc

MSTP
no summers at all, move in June
sublet over the summer, look for real estate to buy
establish credit/credit score
save as much money as possible
calculate mortgage, possible tax deductions
find reliable roommate(s) that pay on time
upgrade appliances/fix house
check bank account
paint house
put money into IRA (not the terrorist group)
invest some money
check bank account
save some money for rainy day
not go to most classes for 2 years/but look for a lab at the same time
publish Science papers
publish Nature papers
publish J Ex Med papers
finish PhD in 3 years
marry a rich girl and have her move in so she can pay my rent
rotate 3rd year while finishing writing/editing/presenting papers
check bank account
get married/not pay for the wedding
make sure my parents are still alive
do 4th year rotations on the east coast, on a boat
buy my brother a college graduation gift
make sure brother doesn't go into medicine, at least not md/phd (that would make 4/100% in the family)
send bro to acting school (high risk/high reward)
match into specialty to make bank in philadelphia
take world over

one of them seemed so much more stressful than the other

lmao
you go this ish covered, bb

I just bought two new CDs - Coheed and Cambria and Bullet for My Valentine. In case anyone likes them.

This might be the push I need to put my iPod music back on my computer.

Someone else got into Baylor. :bang:

For the record, I'm happy for whoever gets in. It just means there is one less spot available and I know at this point they are limited.

if it makes you feel better to have someone else share you misery i heard today about someone i know getting on the short top-tier waitlist at vanderbilt. so if anyone gets off, it's probably going to be him (he knows because he has friends in admissions)...which means my chances are probably pretty low.

the moment i get over this school something else happens to make me feel like crap about it again 👎

My, my, we're almost up to ET D-Day in this thread's life (going by the max posts/page SDN allows).

Yeah, I would love to hear from Vandy but I feel that ship has sailed.

I didn't know there was a short top-tier waitlist, though.

ok time for bed. not adjusting to jet lag ftl... at this point I don't want to adjust though haha

yup. I just wish they'd reject those of us with no hope. mercy-killing is the way to go...the waitlist has like 700+ people on it...they could cut the fat...

I was thinking about it this way the other day.

I was like "if Vandy interviewed about 900 people and accepted about 200, there must be a ridiculously long waitlist"

i felt like vandy and duke were two of the more financially costly schools to apply (since they interview mad people and accept so few). at least with vandy there isnt a secondary fee unless you interview

Definitely.

Of course, when I first started out with this process I loved Vandy's method - you don't pay/fill out the secondary unless you interview, so it's awesome right? Wrong.

You have such a low percentage of getting in there if you interview and then they don't even tell you where you stand or reject you. It sucks. I hate their process.

Of course, I didn't get into Ohio State after an interview there and they accept like 55% of interviewees. So I guess I just fail. 🙁

there aren't that many sdn regulars who are going to vanderbilt this year. all our c/o 2014 threaders that got in aren't going, right? ksmi, jolt, jla?

so many of us fell short there. oh well, it's vanderbilt who is missing out on our coolness!

besides my general LORs sucking, i think they were addressed to md phd programs and said i would be a good grad students. every interview ppl were like oh so you are applying to the md phd program. i was like um nah, dawg, things changed.

but yea

i heard dook interviews 50% of ppl who filled out the secondary

i guess duke feels that anyone who fills out their secondary seriously deserves a shot, i wouldn't say i disagree

BB you shouldn't be allowed to set your roster for a couple weeks for picking up Livan

yea he does suck, he's playing atlanta and they have a terrible pitcher on the mound so i think i can get a win (hopefully) and then drop him

Dontrelle Willis > Jeremy Bonderman > Max Scherzer

at least for right now. Max will be booed out of Detroit as fast as that guy from Seattle we traded for last year. I think his last name was Wheeler or something.
