Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was referring to the tree-hugger comment.

Okay.

Things are good, just busy.

I have 30 hours of overtime from work for my next check 👍 and finished my last pre-req for Mayo. As long as I passed the class, which should be no issue, I'll be there this July.

Have you made a decision yet or hear back from your WL schools?

Coolz. I'm going to LSU-NO unless Baylor accepts me, and the chances of that happening are decreasing every day.

The Starbucks on campus closed by the time my friend and I got there. 🙁 So I got a smoothie at another place instead. 🙂

I don't think I have anything to eat for dinner. I wish I had bacon. I would totally do breakfast for dinner.

It was 4pm. :lame: That's hardly evening, even for normal people.

agreed! this is going to keep me zipping along for the rest of the day and early evening. jeez, dingy being stingy w/ the caffeine.

true, good point. do they accept all throughout the summer?

They took like 5 people between May 15th and 22nd last year on SDN, then 2 more in June. 😕

I have to register, get my email addy, student ID, and all that jazz before I start research. This is really real.

Wow, nice. Do you have any cool plans for the weekend?

Where's Bender, I got another infographic for him

i really should just deactivate my facebook account

Yeah I've been thinking about it, especially with this new link your profile to pages bs.

Share all your information with pages or completely empty your profile.

I kinda wanted to punch Zuckerberg in the face when he said he "doesn't believe in privacy."

ummm i wasn't trying to say i loved it. i was actually poking fun at how much you love it. 😛

🙁 thanks. Next time you need IT support for excel issues, see if I come to your aid!!

oh blob, this isn't a crossword clue. haha.

nah - the most former (if that makes sense). at this point, i think i have stopped caring about it for various reasons. its not going to make a difference anymore in my decision.

Yea it's kinda sad; but apparently all the schools think I'm (i.e. my parents) are loaded. They need better calculators but whatever. They all agree w/ each other so not much I can do about it / play one on the other 🙁

Trees have bugs. Gross.

... ksmi are you going for a world record for most random comments in a day?

... if so I'll join the competition :meanie:

👍 this is a good thing - yay!

dammit ksmi we just got into med school; I ain't going to think about this stuff for another couple of years so shoo young lady

I've actually been doing some research about residencies and away rotations lately.

I want to make sure I get my stuff right next time around so that I can look back and know that I did my absolute best to get exactly where I want to be. I'm very motivated for that right now, we'll see how it goes as med school starts and continues.

you'll probably also have to do one half day of research safety training, and another half day of training for animal use

dammit stop trying to be a good influence on me!

met, i asked my dad about research during residency/fellowship.

for those that have a requirement (especially those with 1 year requirement):

you have the option of choosing a clinical or bench project.

most people will take clinical, but some will take bench.

if you take clinical, your patients (if you will see new ones), will be scheduled on certain days. they can't/won't come 5 days a week, so rest of the time, you can be at home or be in the lab looking up charts. if you don't have to see patients, you can just look at charts and stuff.

what usually ends up happening: people end up scheduling research for end of their residency, and use that time to moonlight the **** out of their time and end up making bank.

Okay, well that sounds a lot better.

Now, if you're moonlighting and/or doing the seeing patients every once and a while thing, when do you do your research? During the other days when you are just looking at charts for you studies?

they "keep a half day free for you to do research". depends on the program if they actually do that, the top notch academic programs will, clinically oriented programs might not like it, but if you are just looking at charts, you can do that when you are free as well

Cool. Thanks. It helps knowing someone on the inside. I have no idea about any of this doctor stuff.

Dingy, that was hilarious.

SS Starlin Castro of the Cubs hit a 3 run home run in his first Major league at bat and also hit a 3 run triple. in his first game in the MLB, he is so far 2/3, homerun, triple, 6 RBI, 1 run
