Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would not be a fan of that. Either make me do everything or nothing at all. But if it works for them, whatevs.

LSU and Oregon are now playing in Dallas (Jerryworld) to kick off the season next year. I'm already counting myself in attendance.

It saves a lot of time, because dissection typically takes forever, but the presentation is only 50 minutes long. This essentially cuts down the dissection time by about half, since you only have to dissect one day, do 3 50-min presentations the next lab day, and just attend the presentations on the other days.

we do all our own dissections, and I don't think we spend more time than that per week...

a lot of it really comes down to how many per body. we have 4 students per (none of that rotating dissection ****). so for the bilateral dissections, its great cuz you can team up in two's for each side.

In a way, I do wish that we could all do each dissection; however, the method really boils down to it being a time-saver because we have to do all of anatomy in 8 weeks. I must say that I do like the fact that because you teach the material, you really learn it well.

We do the same. We have lumbar puncture cadaver procedure lab tomorrow. Fun.

Same here. We usually go 9 or 9:30 to 12 on MWF.

omg i envy you guys. We do like 16 weeks of anatomy. it freakin sucks.

We have one semester, so I guess that's the same amount of time. I feel bad for the schools that do a whole year of anatomy. :scared:

ah, now I see the difference. speaking of anatomy, I should get to sleep since part 2 of anatomy exam is tomorrow (rocked the practical today). and genetics is OOOVER! 🙂 done with class 1 of med school!

+1
12 weeks was more than enough for me.

I notice that most of the posting now happens between 10pm and 2am, presumably when people finish studying for the day.

I've noticed that too. I've been doing all my studying during the late night and early morning. I seem to concentrate better that way.

So I logged into yahoo this morning and 3 of 9 headlines were about how violent and crappy my home town is. I sense my street cred with the small town folk is about to rise:laugh:.

We have anatomy lecture from 8:30 to 9:30 and lab from 9:30 to 12 every MWF. So much anatomy!!!

Same here, except our lecture is 8-9. 🙁

I really wish there was at least some variability in when I started class, so I could catch a couple extra hours of sleep at least once during the week.

I have anatomy 8-12 MTWRF for like 12 weeks. I win...or lose. 🙁

I would go lose on that one.

That's unfortunate. I do my laundry like every other week.

Me, too. But today is the time for laundry since I'm leaving tomorrow. I felt like I was folding clothes for forever.

Hooray! I thought I'd have to answer my own question, which reminds me, where has blobby bob been?

Since his blobbiness conforms to that which surrounds him, I would guess he is currently blob-shaped and attached to med school stuff.

Ugh, no matter how much I study throughout the day, there are still things left to study on my to do list. I can never get ahead!

I'm with ya starting in October. The pitfall of a "block" curriculum. 🙁

Yup, mid-Oct through mid-Jan. It'll be anatomy 24/7, no joke. 😱

It's not possible to be ahead in med school. Either you're behind or right on schedule.

Today's dissection was like the longest ever 😡 I thought they were gonna divide it up like they did with the perineal region and the legs/feet but nooooooo, we had to dissect the whole friggin arm and hands in one sitting. Arg 🙁

Woo, starwood is giving triple points again! By the time med school is over I should have enough pts for a week in Maui, all expenses paid!

Physiology is messin with me.

Gross starts in a week and is essentially all year.

Woo for integration (not)

Howdy '14....what's shakin?

Can I ask you guys for some advice/opinions/anecdotes?

Anyone here have a horrible interview and still get in to the school?

My first interview was a disaster.

I didn't personally. But I've heard a number of people say they thought their interview sucked and they got in. It can be hard to judge interviews, either way all you can do is wait and to find out. Good luck:luck:.

He said I was stupid for going to the grad school I went to, implied that my mother was a drug addict, spent 30 minutes talking about everything he hated about the school, med school in general, and med students in general, and when I tried to have a conversation with him told me to "stop talking and let him finish".

It was pretty bad🙂

Who goes to lecture in here / doesn't go? Curious...

I go to Anatomy lecture because it's right before lab, so there's not much point in not going. I'm going to start skipping Histo because it sucks. As far as Embryology, it will depend on what else I have to do that day but I will most likely go because I probably have mandatory stuff later in the day.

Sorry, I can't offer much help on that front.

I had 2 mediocre/bad interviews (R, WL), 3 pretty good interviews (R, WL, A) and 1 really good interview (A).

wow. one of the docs i shadowed said he had a similar interview during his first cycle and it did not bode well for him. that sucks. why would they let someone like that be an interviewer

I'm not really tired, but I need to go to sleep since I have to get to school early tomorrow. Stupid freaking Saints games and their taking up half of our freaking parking. Last time, though.
