Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you can afford that extra spot, then split it.

Dude, they don't even fit under two slots... WTF!

Blue, I'm sorry. I just go for the older guys (2013 and such). But still not like the grandpa guys (0C and such).

Please. You know you want it. You like the experience... And the wheelchair.

i agree with blue, sounds fine as long as you got the space. Like you always tell me its not like they read these things closely anyways :meanie:

Ha ha. So true.

Well, goodnight everybody. Have work at 8:30am tomorrow. 😱
Why doesn't the movie theater open later on Sundays? No one comes that early anyway. I guess I'll try to enjoy that it'll only be semi-busy before Transformers of death comes out Wednesday. Then I will be dead for the rest of the summer via new big movie releases.

Goodnight, man.

Hehehehe. Lukkie, you, 0C, and me know how to take advantage of this system. Screw AMCAS and medical schools and their stingy rules.:meanie:

👍 Let's just hope it doesn't screw us this year...

I appreciate the freedom, babe, but we are clear that you do not get the same luxury? I expect my men to be faithful, even if they are my e-men.

i'm (e-)faithful! 😉

but for what it's worth, im actually one of the X-Men.

ps: i apologize for lack of creativity/witty-ness. just one of those dorky nights!

Good night 2014.

Also, I am really close to 5000. I say I get there on Monday or Tuesday if Monday is slow.

Who are you kidding, you'll be there by noon tomorrow... [<----- This is not a laugh emoticon, it is Ksmi talking incessantly]

Well, I had to shave a presentation to fit them into two slots... 🙁

slide that presentation randomly into some other activity

So true, but it's a beautiful way to do it.

It's with Kristin Kreuk right? She's so fine.

Ha ha. I don't think it will fit under any of my other activities... 🙁
theres always some way to spin something to make it work into another activity or why you want to go into medicine:meanie:. I think filling out 30 secondaries or so has taught me taht lol.

Hey, Blue, did you put shadowing under a volunteer category?

Ha ha. Nah, I think I'll be fine without it. It was older presentation and it was just at a UG conference. I will still have 7 presentations, so I think I'll be fine.

I have 3 shadowing experiences, and I wanted to put descriptions for each of them, so I granted them individual slots.

 Sneaky sneaky. But what primary heading did you use? I was thinking about throwing all 12 of mine under the same slot... 😳

Shadowing a Surgeon, Shadowing a Pediatrician, etc.

For your case, you probably want to to group them. Put Shadowing physicians, or something. You shadowed 12 doctors?

wow man i put 3 in one slot :lame: damnit i should've gamed it a little better. you outgunned me blue.

Actually, now that I think about it I might do two slots. One for general shadowing and another for surgery viewing. What would you call it if you didn't technically scrub up, but you viewed the surgeries from within the operating room?

It's probably not a big deal putting them all in one slot or separating them out.

useless? :meanie:. Seriously though i dont think theres a term for that...at UCI theres no real way to watch w/o scrubbing up.

Yeah, I gathered that, but you have to select a primary heading from the drop down menu before you type in a title, what did you select for your primary heading from the drop down menu?

Yeah, I was pretty fortunate. I landed an internship at a local hospital which included shadowing docs from just about every field within the hospital. So I shadowed Cardiology, Pathology, Surgery, ED, Pediatrics, Imagining/radiology, and a number of others. I don't even know if it's worth listing them all out on my AMCAS, I'm going to say twelve and then give a synopsis of the fields and just include my 5 favorites or something like that.

For shadowing you should list it as "other" or at least i was told...your not relaly volunteering as you are just being useless taking up space... then for the title you just write physician shadowing, and you can go on a tangent about everything you did shadowing 12 docs blah blah blah gives me perspective on medicine blah blah....you get the idea 🙂

It's been agreed to categorize shadowing as "Other".

I did scrub up, but I wasn't in full garb or anything. I was just in scrubs, a cap and face mask/air filter.

I know I wasn't technically "scubbed in" because I kept getting so interested and leaning in over the patient that the surgical nurses had to keep resterilizing the operating area... 😳

Being useless.

 You guys are a couple of @sshats!

know the game 0c. you assisted the surgeons.

😆 I think I peed a little on that one.

Technically I did, the surgeon had me inflate one of the patients abdominal regions with CO2. 😀

By the way...

She puts me on TOP of the world...

ok 0c i took a screenshot of what the completed app looks like (this is the report they give you after its been verified). its a couple of my experiences and obviously i blotted out most of the info. but it does show you what presumably the adcom would see when reviewing your app. so i dont think that 'category' matters that much since they'll probably look at the title mostly.

I like your multiple windows man.

i always get paranoid when posting a desktop screenshot on the web... i quadruple check to make sure i dont have my e-banking account open in the back or something

Thanks, man. I correct my AMCAS viewing it that way, by clicking on the "Print Application" tab.

So you went for "Other." I'm just wondering if they quantify hours by primary experience type. Or if they just review them all manually and look at the title.

Thanks for posting that though, it helped. 😉
