those are the types of messages i've been leaving with all the med school adcom's, is that not ok??

i never really understood this idea of "pre-med neuroticism" that gets thrown around maliciously so much on this site. so we want to know the fate of the rest of our lives, so what? if you weren't obsessing about applications, etc, you would be an apathetic toad in my book. i bet everyone does it, regardless of whether or not they admit to it. (in all fields, not just medicine).
 
i'm a little excited but I also kinda like that everything stands still on the weekends because it gives me time to catch up on essays and such without thinking the world is going on without me

I like both aspects of the weekdays and weekends.
Weekdays because I look forward to getting more (especially since I have the majority of non-screened ones out of the way already).
Weekends because if I don't get any on Friday, then it's done and I might not feel overwhelmed for the weekend. Plus, I'm very busy on weekends with work, etc.

Who's ready for some more essays tomorrow!!! 😱

That is so true...I can't imagine anyone who complains about the neuroticism that isn't feeling it a bit in themselves...

I haven't done all of them. I did around 23 now. And I'm just too tired to do anything anymore. I'm sucking at my summer class right now.👎
 
These secondaries are eating up my credit card.

Anyone got a good cc for cash back or miles that's free? I have the Chase Freedom one for up to 3% back (I'm averaging about 1.5% for 2 years now...)

WOW, you received all the secondaries that you're going to complete? I've only received 18/28 (finished em all though!). I have a couple more with no essays and a couple monsters left, but they should be easy if the essays I prewrote will work for them.
 
let me just say that my recent desperate housewives addiction is getting in the way of my writing secondaries. when i get home from work all i want to do is find out what happens next. this is bad news, guys. bad news.
 
I'm not really feeling the motivation to finish the secondaries I have, yet, because my LORs wont be in for at least two more weeks. silly committee. It doesn't seem like there is any benefit to doing them now.

👍 same here. PreMed committee said early to mid August...

I was all set to be a secondary machine this weekend. Then I went out for a 16-mile training run Saturday morning and got heat stroke (at least that was the WebMD diagnosis). All I managed to eat for the rest of the day was a handful of chips, 2/3 of a chicken breast and a pint of ice cream :laugh:. Managed to finish UChicago -- hopefully I can punch out Gtown at work today.

Fast forward 36 hours and I'm RAVENOUS. Off to go get some breakfast down the street from my office. Egg whites and cheese on wheat, mmmmmmmmmmm....
 
my MCAT score (from 6/18) is released tomorrow . . . I feel:
-barfy
-pukey
-vomity
-ulcery
-wannadrinky

I admit I obsessively checked the website for a few days before my release date just in case they released the scores early. They ended up releasing them a day early but by that point it was just habit to check so I did a double take when I realized my scores were actually up

i feel ya! rewatching all of arrested development...so upset it was canceled 🙁

haha . . . i swore i wouldn't do that, but . . . I just checked AMCAS to see whether i was verified yet (i'm not) and I thought ALRIGHT FINE as long as I'm here I'm gonna check the MCAT page too!!!

they weren't up yet but just seeing the page gave me a big nausea wave

I took my MCAT in March so I don't think as many people were taking it then so maybe that is why it came up early.


just use all your pent up jitters to work on secondaries.

i havent gotten any yet!!! well, i am not verified yet, and also i only applied to 4 schools so far. (i will add more, but i am broke and just wanted to get the verification process rolling, so i applied to my four in-states.) once i get MCATTY (and more $$$) i shall add more. although i guess I could find the essay prompts here on SDN and get crackin.

what I really need to be working on right now is the manuscript for my research project . . . but nausea and anxiety + really boring writing/reading arent mixing well
