lol . . . you are my MCAT twin . . . i was hoping for a 36 because I always thought that 12 was my lucky number. Well I got it but without a single 12! :laugh:


So in other news, got my Rosalind Franklin secondary today . . . can't wait to fill that one out and submit it. Last.

Hmm.. no 12's here either, even though I was getting them a lot on practice tests. *shrug*

I decided against doing that secondary... too expensive and I hate paper applications. 😡 I consider the $30 primary fee a down-payment on a backup app in ~October if things go badly in the next few months. 😛

It's a PAPER application? oh screw that. I added them before i got my mcat score, and regretted that once i got it. if i don't get any interviews by the end of sept or something maybe i'll fill it out?

lol. no, i didn't add them. according to MSAR their average MCAT is 37, so i am still below their mcat and gpa averages. it seems like too long of a shot, i dont have a lot of money so i'd rather put what i do have toward secondaries. and adding more promising schools. when i can, i think i'm going to add Jefferson, and maybe Rochester and OHSU and Vermont.

Edited to add: i'm not exactly dying to stay in Chicago. as far as reaches go, I'm focusing southward (Baylor, Emory and Vandy.) and if i do end up staying here, i might as well just go to UIC and save all that money (if i get in to UIC, that is. I would hope they let me in!)

i have no idea what that is?? argh... IM so new to sdn.. iv been reading for a while.. but Im just starting to actually post. How do you do this MdApps thing?

it's not really a *paper* app. It's the same as GW -- fill out the pdf online, print, and mail in. Not like MUSC where I had to hand write answers...i swear if they didn't have my birthdate right in front of them, the MUSC AdCom would probably think Doogie Houser was applying 🙄

still though . . . it's already one of the most expensive secondaries. now i have to spend an extra buck or two printing it at school (i dont have a printer and they charge per page, how long is it anyway?) and buying a stamp! Grrr.
 
4 pages altogether -- 2 essays about their brand, "Life in Discovery" and working in interprofessional environments...

glad to see consulting finally paid off for one of these darn things
 
God, I had a nightmare yesterday when I suddenly had this thought when I would be rejected everywhere. Scary.

Hmm does anyone have a favorite MDapps format? I've seen them done in many ways and I'm thinking about changing mine up because it's kinda confusing.

Ohhhh southern weather. As much as I hate it, I still think the humidity is better than the dry 100+ heat of Las Vegas.

it rained 2x when I was in Vegas last weekend... 🙁

just like its raining now on the East coast--well, there's also tornado warnings a few counties over. Rain spoils yet another date as well it seems 🙄

oh man, it is storming hardcore here. it looks like nighttime out the window of my office :scared:
 
Its rained once nearly every day this summer. We've had some dry spells, but it doesn't last long. It stormed just a couple hours ago. lol
 
I would like to go to a place where it rains occasionally. Where I live, you rarely see any rain. It gets too dry and boring.

I like the rain because it cools everything down, but rain sucks when you have to walk through it. Especially in LA....mostly because my campus seems to attract flooding and large puddles, so I wind up soaked whenever I need to go somewhere.

wtf?! 3.3 miles?! you measure it?? and sh|t that would take forever!! i'd just end up jogging it after the first half mile of walking just to get it over with!
 
Hope everyone is having a great afternoon.

The thing I miss about being back home is the afternoon Thunderstorms.

Up here in WNY we mostly get some intermittent rain. This year has brought a couple of good thunderstorms, but nothing like back home...

Oh well.

LSU is cool but I personally don't like Baton Rouge too much...which is why I'm glad their medical schools are not there.

Yes, I measure it. I'm not really in the best condition to run, so I'm sticking with walking. But I wanted to get at least somewhat of an ok workout so I walked a lot.
