Im def not applying to NYU, probly still applying to Penn MSTP, maybe to Stanford MSTP since we collaborate heavily

i dont know. i know a lot of people there though. Bellevue is a fine institution and so is Langorne. I would def do residency there though (and NYC would be my first choice then).

but for education, i just wanna be in a different environment. too much loans from NYU undergrad and them constantly asking for donations kinda turned me away.

it doesnt matter too much to me-although i had a male interviewer whose eyes were looking about a foot south of my eyes, so that was slightly awkward lol. i wasnt even wearing a revealing shirt or anything!!

I've had 2 female and 14 male. I guess I'm more used to male interviewers, so I'd prefer that the rest of them were male. But girls are cool too.

Ksmi, just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about Wake? I too wasn't particularly struck by the school, but I couldn't really pinpoint why. The surrounding town was a little dull for me, and there seemed to be an emphasis on staying in NC, and there seemed to be little opportunity to explore things like global health.

But other than that I don't know why it seemed so lackluster, so I'd like to hear your thoughts.

nah, i'm mostly kidding. money is not so important to me (i was about to say "clearly" but then realized that none of you know me IRL-- i grew up with not very much money, and i'm considering primary care). stability IS really important to me, though, and i think medicine provides that. i guess i don't care so much if he's a doctor, i just want to feel like my spouse is able to provide for me and the family at least as much as i am able to provide for him and the family. i've been the over-responsible, worrying one for all 23 years i've been alive and i'd like to not have to do that forever.

You applied in August, right?

I think that has more to do with it than anything in your app...my stats, etc., are in line with yours, but I applied in June, had all secondaries submitted by late July...

Not too sure about your theory, though, but I do think that the first big wave of interviews has been scheduled, and that there will continue to be waves for the weeks and months to come...

Um, idk, I really didn't get to talk to many students which kinda upset me. The NC thing, I guess, because I probably wouldn't stay there. And I really wasn't that impressed by their facilities. There are some other little things slipping my mind.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great school. But it's been the one I've been least impressed with.

I know 🙁 Pretty much everyone from out-of-state that I've talked to has said the same thing. I think I might try getting some people to ask the admissions office if we could put something like that together; the director of admissions is new this year, so maybe she'll be receptive. But I also know that Baylor is really watching the bottom line at least until the Rice-Baylor merger goes through, and (much like on SDN) I doubt anything will happen just because I suggest it. But it's worth asking, at least; like I said, it's a concern that several OOSers have had.

At the very least, I'll try answering any questions you have, and of course the same goes for you too, metallica 🙂

Cuz, Houston kinda sucks (traffic, weather, etc) - hey, I lived there, so I am entitled to rag on it...did you really look around WashU much? Yeah, the park across the street is nice, but the immediate neighborhood (south and east) really sucks (have family there)...

OTOH, the Vandy area of Nashville, and Charlottesville, are pretty darn nice...

Clearly this should not be the #1 factor, but it is pretty important to me, just curious if it is in your thinking or not.

come to think of it, location kind of was my #1 factor in choosing which schools to apply to. i (mentally) drew lines on a map and refused to go past them. and within those lines, i applied almost exclusively in cities. to each his own, i suppose.
