How annoying is it that Duke seems to be one of the few schools to not use AMCAS's LOR system?

I finally finished mine a few days ago...but i started writing it in like march...I went through 3 rewrites and 12903910 revisions. I still dont like mine all that much but im just gonna go wtih what I got. Personal statements just sound kinda cheesy to me when i read them. Even ones that are "good." Im not good at selling myself 🙁

Hey! At least you weren't in the West this season. It was painful. 🙁 But I mean, at least LSU beat South Carolina... 😛

And yeah, last year it was like 20 schools that used it... and now its like 20 that aren't, and I'm applying to 3 of them (Duke and the LSUs)

B-b-but those plays are soooo cool. And I still don't get the corn dog thing. I know everyone thinks that LSU people smell like corn dogs, but really you'd be hard pressed to find someone cooking corn dogs on game day. We're all about the jambalaya and gumbo. 🙂 This taffy thing is a first, though.

Wow, I cannot believe it has been a year since I was in your positions last year...

Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask... except for reading PSes... I have found that I am very bad at correcting them...

i'm goin to the immigration office on tuesday and going to beg them till they give me something :cry:
haha...

but i think i will go ahead and apply this cycle
then its my luck
coz i realllly dont wanna wait another year... maybe the fact that i've gone to high school and undergrad here will differentiate me from internationals

i'm wondering if its something i could briefly mention in my PS just to get their attention??

You could. After looking at the MSAR for a while ive noticed some schools do make that distinction. They say they accept international appicants w/o penalizing them basically as long as they did their undergrad in the US. So hopefully theres a lot of these schools, I havnt looked into just noticed it while flipping through the MSAR. If not maybe in PS say something about how you have been here 8 yrs + and did both HS and college here. That would be fail if they dont at least take that into some consideration.

yah zot zot🙄. man anteater is like the worst mascot ever...I still dont know why they choose that. Its a good thing UCI sucks at all sports, that would be an embarassing mascot on the field. What would it even do? lol

Im graduating this year in the summer. Then hopefully some UCs show me some love and overlook my mcat!🙂

Actually, Oklahoma fans were the first to call Nebraska fans "corndogs", which was later picked up by the unimaginative Auburn fanbase to insult LSU fans. The rest of the SEC picked up on this joke. Strangely enough, there's plenty of jokes to be made about the LSU fanbase (c'mon, can't you think of something funny about Cajuns?), it's a stolen joke that has gone the furthest.

The UC's are weird... I know people with lower stats who got in, but I also know other people with high stats who got absolutely no love from the UC's. Just apply, do your best, and bombard UCI and UCSD with love letters... they seem to respond well to them...

lol i just googled that and it came up with uc santa cruz....wtf I had no idea that was their mascot. That school is weird anyways, crazy hippy school. I forget its a real uc sometimes :meanie:

i got a poster a couple weeks ago
but i wish I had more data to put on it
it seemed like i filled it up with pictures and background info just coz i started the project recently

I once got extra credit on a psych stats exam for naming any two UC mascots. It was bizarre. Not to mention I was surprised I knew them, coming from MN hs and NY ug
