The 2013ers did not like it... I wonder if you 2014ers would...

I also don't like the asymmetry of it all... there's like some bananas in two, and some bounce in the same direction and some in opposite. Bothersome.

im mad that most doctors don't put their office phone numbers or email addresses up
haha
it makes it more difficult to contact them for shadowing

lol im so glad i didnt have to do this. I always thought that would be so awkward calling a random doc. Hi Doctor X, I'm a pre med and I deperately want to shadow you and have you write me a LOR so I can get into med school, does that sound good to you?🙂"

I had a question though about entering activities on amcas. Unless im misunderstanding this you have to put in a title and contact info and all that. But for my shadowing, its sort of an extension of my clinical research. Every day I go to research i shadow as I have to go on rounds throughout different units in the hospital, in addition to this we get to do other interesting things such as mm conferences, entering the OR, blah blah blah more clinical crap blah blah. I was going to put this as a sort of a seperate activity from my research so that I can really get the point across about all the clinical ive gotten there. But how can i title that and put contact info? Theres 5 different attendings not to mention the senior residents and fellows that lead rounds sometimes. I cant list them all nor honestly do i even know all of them. Any suggestions?

i'd say list it separately... put contact info of the main person u can think of...the person you personally interact most with... i guess that way if they ever called to verify that person would know you and can say something
and then describe that you shadowed diff attendings in these diff fields.. bla bla

i wouldn't take my advice without asking someone else too though 😛

You can separate them, and just list the contact info as the head person, or at least one of the attendings. Med schools aren't gonna call all of these people. That'd be ridic.

Or leave contact info blank. In my case, I will list the name of the person who is incharge of the shadowing program. If you set up shadowing directly with the doctor, then I would just leve it blank.

Can you do that? Cause I was gonna list all my shadowing together, but the 3 doctors I've shadowed so far have nothing to do with each other... What do I do?

Yeah I also read you don't need to put contact info down. You just need the name of the person in charge.

Yes, leave contact info blank. I've a copy of my friends AMCAS app from last year and he has it blank.

No dude, my friend who got into multiple schools gave me copy of his AMCAS and he didn't put in a contant name. He just titled shadowing under "other" and filled description with doctors he shadowed.

this would allow for alot of faking eh
as long as u could talk about it at an interview
HMM

Umm. Try it. Try faking something and look the other person eye to eye. It doesn't work for me. How about you?

Whoa... going all serious on us, GangGreen (still don't know what to call you). But yeah... this is the reason I'm reporting my IA, as insignificant as it may be. I hope it doesn't screw me over.

i dont think it will
i think if you can pull it off well, it'll be a good laugh at the interviews...

if they dont look over that little thing, then...then i dont wanna say anything mean about the adcoms

Some people can lie right through their teeth so easily and look you straight in the eyes. I know some people like that, it's pretty scary.

6 more posts until 100 :woot:

ok a serious question
i know this was asked before but i didnt understand

wat does amcas verified mean...
i thought it meant when you have all your transcripts, etc in, amcas "verifies" you
so how come alot of u have it verified already?

such fun studying about cyTOPlasmic receptors for my Endo final 🙂

oo
fun stuff
is ur final tomorrow?

my professor's research is alll about protein folding and motifs and domains
so no matter what topic we discuss... we somehow always end up on protein functional motifs in there

methinks your counting is a bit off tonight.

also: MdApps always lies. it says i'm amcas verified. i'm not. maybe because to list schools you have to lie anyway and say that you're pre-secondary at schools, which would assume post-primary, which assumes amcas verified? that's my logic, anyway.

so my definition of amcas verified was right?
"when you have all your transcripts, etc in"

oh, i lied. 4000th post, but not your 4000th. got it.

p.s. tonight it seems like i'm a big liar. i swear i'm not.

yeah. you send in your amcas app, they get your transcripts. then they verify that you're not a liar. 🙂 i.e. that all of your info, grades and such, are correct. then you get the green light to apply.
