calling a school a "top" choice merely sets you up to disappoint yourself or miss out on appreciating the goodness of another school. so you're doing good 👍

ive heard that they usually take place in april...before the massive waitlist movement in may. not totally sure though, and certainly varies by school

yeah, i'm excited about MSSM. but my parents keep reminding me to keep an open mind. also i think i'm partially so excited about MSSM because i don't think i'm gonna get in anywhere else. we'll see.

is it ridiculous to send columbia an LOI before i've gotten an interview? le sigh.

I've heard that pre-interview should be an update letter with some "interest" thrown in there. That's just been my experience thus far.

I'm going to see Boondock Saints II soon. I hope it's as good as the first.

Can't hurt, right? I'd make I=interest, not intent. But I do agree with Bender that it would be stronger if you've got something to update them on.

Find something to update them on. I talked about different things happening with my jobs and volunteering and used that as an excuse to talk about how I'd be a great fit 🙂 do not dispair!
 
havent seen like it. but its not a movie you make a sequel of. i'd be happy to be pleasantly surprised though

Man, I would kill (almost literally) for an MSSM interview. I really want to stay in the area (insert: NY not Philly) for numerous reasons! I still have yet to call them to make sure they went ahead and downloaded my LORs. I'm always busy between their status check hours...I need to get on it.

Oh, and I'll second the point that even if you don't have a significant update, how much can it hurt your application to reiterate the fact that you a truly interested in the school? I just sent in one without an update (had already sent an update letter). It really can't hurt. Just do it!

Agreed. Personally, I need to see the money before I can call a school my "top" choice. Because if my "top" fails me financially, I'll be at a loss for words... That, and you never know what school will surprise you once you go visit.
 
haha no, but it was college edition.

there was a guy from Cornell who built up a fountain of spit behind every letter... it was rather hilarious.

Ok, so me and the 2 friends (girls) aren't doing our rotation of cooking / watching grey's anatomy tonight because one of them had to go in to work. I find myself eerily wanting to watch the show. Am I actually getting into Greys?? 😱

Oh, I absolutely LOVE Glee - it takes the cake. Modern Family is also a hilarious new show (I just catch it on Hulu since it airs at the same time as Glee).

Can I claim worst interview experience thus far?

So I woke up at 4am for my 7am LA-->Houston-->Norfolk flight. I get to Houston and my next flight is suppose to leave in 45 mins. I get a call from EVMS saying they're canceling all interviews for tomorrow because of the weather. 😡. Luckily the Continental guy was really nice and got me on a flight back to LA [and I don't have to pay for any of it] and I was able to cancel my hotel last minute. As I'm about to board my LA flight the woman from admissions called me back and said she found someone who could meet with me tomorrow [probably had something to do with how pissed I was on the phone the first time]. Too bad my Norfolk flight had already left. 😡 I left my apartment at 4:45am this morning, got back at 5:30pm...and somewhere along the way flew to Houston and back. FML.

That actually takes the cake for the worst i've heard so far, so when are you gonna finally interview at EVSM?

OTOH, it's awesome that my wish came true, now the thread is truly diverse with an asian and a hispanic chick.

Damn. I truly feel sorry for you. That's horrible. When are they rescheduling the interview? And I'm happy at least the Continental guy pulled through.

Yeah... they owe you an auto-acceptance for putting you through all that bs... I personally would say screw it and not fly out there again.

Woman in admissions really couldn't answer any of my questions, probably because this was a last minute decision and they haven't figured things out yet. She said they might have to open up a new day for those of us that were suppose to interview tomorrow since all spots are filled for the rest of this year. But I guess its good I didn't get all the way to Virginia, seeing as how its now in a State of Emergency. I think when we reschedule they should go easier on us during the interview :laugh:

That you basically flew out twice for them should demonstrate your interest in them plenty, you should definitely emphasize that in your interviews and/or future LOI's. Turn a bad thing into a good thing.

Definitely was considering it. But I feel like I might actually really like the school, location, etc despite the fact that i'm EXTREMELY turned off by them right now.
