Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'd forget to check it. I'm just gonna use my school address.

I get so much work and school e-mail, I'm afraid something will be lost in the shuffle.

Plus, our campus e-mail isn't exactly trustworthy. Last week half of campus lost e-mail for like 4 days because of a server meltdown. 😱 I would be freaking out if that happened during the application season...

I will admit to having created a business email back in the day. Of course I got tired of using it and forwarded it to gmail which is now the nexus of my e-world.

Good idea. I just created a medical school app. related folder in my email. Thanks for the advice.

...and happy Easter underlings.

You too, upperling(?)

Yeah, my campus mail just switched to using gmail (aka tigermail) so I'm not too worried about losing emails. If it had been our old email, I so would have made a new email address. That one was awful!

We used to have this ancient e-mail service which was limited by reliable. Then they went and switched to Zimbra (same thing as the newer version of yahoo mail) and it sucks and is always crashing. My school fails at technology. 😡

Mine used to be awful, thankfully they just did a complete overhaul of our email and internet (fiber everywhere.... love it) last year.

I also took the mcat in Jan. I have to say, the test wasn't that stressful at all. I had taken enough practice tests I was used to it I guess. However, that 1 month wait for scores was probably the most excruciating thing ever.

With you on that one!

1/30 or 1/31??

I was pretty calm that month, surprisingly. Lots of other things going on to keep me busy. The day before and day of were killer, though. I feel like I was going to vomit as I walked to my office to check my score. Then after I saw it I paced around the office, went outside because I felt too contained, and paced some more while calling my peeps. It was a crazy day.

Yeah I still remember the day of. I was in the gym playing basketball about two hours before it came out.

The night before the MCAT was the most nerve racking for me. I did manage to get a good 8 hours of sleep though. I think that helped my score considerably. I felt so relaxed afterward though. Before I was all about studying in every free minute I had. After I was releived that I didn't have to study in my free time.

Yeah, now is definitely the time I am very happy for taking the MCAT in August since I see everybody else struggling for the April tests. And then what if you mess up the April test? Not much time to fix things, so that's why I took mine in August in case I needed another go-round.

I clearly remember taking the MCAT. I went out with some friends that night and the last thing I remember was a couple of these things flying at me
LongIslandIceTea-main_Full.jpg

and then I woke up in a strange place....

I ran around my apartment screeching at the top of my lungs. My dog (a giant sheperd/husky mix) followed me howling at the top of her lungs. And my cat chased both of us (he's very outgoing). It was awesome.

I will never forget how I felt when I saw my score. 😍 Nothing like it in the world.

Atleast you didn't get a flat tire on the way to the MCAT.

Haha... I've never been one to scream. When something's good, I lose all speech. It took me a few minutes before I could call anyone. I remember calling home and my dad was on the phone and ignored the call-waiting, so I called my mom's cell phone and got all mad that he had ignored the call. Apparently, she thought I was upset because I had not done well. It was quite the opposite, I wanted to tell them, but he ignored me!!!

I guess not so much a scream, as a high pitched, incoherent gibbering. Something along the lines of: aaaahhahahhaha eiieieiei eeeieieoooo!

I only slept 4 hours the night before even though I tried extremely hard the last three days to stir clear of all MCAT material. Went into the exam kinda dazed but I guess I came out alright.

Good luck to everyone this upcoming cycle! Can't wait...(don't know if it's excitement or fear) probably a mixture of 20 different types of emotions...

😱. Dude, I would've had a heart attack and proceeded to write the test in ghost jedi form

The day of my retake I got to the top of my driveway to discover that I had a flat tire. I had a screw in my tire. I must have picked it up on the highway somewhere else. I let the car at the top of the driveway and ran the 1/8 mile back to my house to get the other car. I got in that car and it didn't have enough gas to get me to the testing location so I had to stop and get gas. I was now about 15 minutes behind schedule. Thinking about the situation after the exam I realized how lucky I truly was. We were borrowing my grandfather's truck because I had the "spare" car for the summer while in Philadelphia. Luckily that happened because my dad took the borrowed truck instead of the spare car (that got me to the testing center) to go to work. If we didn't borrow the truck he would have taken the car I drove to the testing center. The only other option then would have been my brother's truck... but I can't drive a manual transmission and he had to leave for work in 15 minutes. I decided afterward when thinking about all this that I would have given him 20 or 30 bucks to cover what he would have missed if he had to drive me.

ah, MCAT reminiscing (sp?) stories, yall have some pretty good ones. Breakfast my day of test was chocolate donuts, bacon and chocolate milk but it didn't hit my stomach until after the test luckily. Day I got my scores my roommate was pissed off at me because I seemed happier about beating Rock Band than the fact that I didn't have to retake.

taking it in three weeks! cant figure out if im a nervous wreck or gleefully happy thats its gonna be over soon =)

Dude, that sounds delicious. I'm getting late night cravings right now. Not good.🙁

believe me...nooooooooo you won't...I was (and still am) so anxious about this process and I am probably one of the most laid back premeds I know. In addition, my school e-mail screens too much stuff as spam.

Yeah... upon further reflection, I don't really want to scare off the new 2014ers who've been posting recently... most of the new people actually seem pretty cool 🙂

Damn it, Spurs. Now I'm really having those late-night cravings.

5 days until my mcat. At this point I just want to take it and be done.
Yeah I promise it's not that bad. If you took 3-4 of the AAMC practice tests online it's just about the exact same thing except you have to sit in a room with some big ole earphones on.

I took it 1/31, darn 8ams. I had ~9 hours of sleep and two scotches to help me slumber, so I was out like a baby.

When I got my score back, I had pulled an allnighter for a P.Chem/I.Chem/Biochem2 trio of midterms and I was literally falling asleep while pressing refresh. My roommate woke me up at about 4pm and I hit refresh instantly and started making some manly grunting and breaking out every football pump-up I remember. Good times, good times.

Are you serious? You actually choked in your interview?😱

Sure did! I could barely speak. The day before on the way down (very long drive), I was sick in a completely different, very gastrointestinal, and thus, very unhappy way.

...which was resolved by choking on a pepto bismol tablet and thus tricking my body into thinking I'd actually thrown up. Two seconds later, I was just fine.

Waitlisted~:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Sweet... I think ksmi and Caesar are asleep...

I can't see whatever picture that is... but I can see all your deleted posts. 😡

Well, I'd probably check it a lot, but then I'd be bummed if there wasn't anything there or freaking if there was. I think it's just better for me to use my school one. And it tells me when it thinks mail is spam.

Liar... you're just afraid of Caesar and me... well more him, cause he can post-hold you, which by the way, I am still in favor of. 😛

As a sign of truce, here, have a cookie! 🙂

Don't take it!!!!! He's probably poisoned it!

At least you didn't get to your testing center at 7:30 AM for an 8:00 AM administration to find out that the testing center had physically moved its location six months earlier without updating its address.

😱😱😱

😱😱😱

Luckily, it only moved 10 blocks away but I was heeding the words of a janitor who had only heard this information secondhand and who was, in his own words, "only 40% sure."

To all 2014ers who haven't taken the MCAT yet: make sure you scout the location the day before you take the test 🙂

Agreed! I had heard that my center was hard to find, so I decided to check it out the day before. The road is was on had a median, and the intersection it was at had major construction going on. It took me like 15 minutes of driving around this one intersection and making U-turns to finally get into the right parking lot, and then another 5 to realize that it was hidden in the back.

women drivers...

Yeah. Scout the location. I scouted, and still couldn't find it the next morning. It was around back of where I had scouted. There was like 5 of us nervously waiting in front at like 7:50 wondering why the building hadn't opened. Then we saw others drive around back.

Yup, scouting the location is a big 👍.
On a side note, no lab for me today. Yes!
