Plus, I don't get why they care if we have 1 thread in the Pre-Allo forum that is ours to do as we please, assuming we're applying this year. Who does it really hurt? If people don't want to see it they can ignore it.

I think the people that have an issue with it have larger issues in life than a thread not completely devoted to pre-Allo...

The issue isn't with the regulars in PA it is that some of the posting was TOO borderline and we were getting reported posts about it. Other staff from other areas don't frequent these threads but when a plethora of RP's come in, they get noticed and people start asking if we should move the thread to a more appropriate forum. There is no one on staff that really WANTs to shut the thread down, and as long as it stays well within the TOS it is here to stay (until we all migrate over to Allo next year).
 
Ok. I'm off to go get ruined by that workout routine...

on another notw...if Drexel doesn't have an essay, then why do they require a secondary + fee?

same goes for NYMC?

you should be happy this saves all of us time. Drexel may not have essay prompts but im sure they have some form of secondary where you fill out some info. Most schools do. Also they charge money as they can and no one is going to question it. does filling out a meaningless essay really validate the money you spend? Also i posted a while back which schools have either no essay prompts or "optional" essay prompts which can be the equivalent of no prompts (based on last years prompts only). I can try and find it but ithink it was like a good 40 pages back or so 🙁

Negatory. I'm saying CA girls, for the most part, are pretentious and stuck-up. They don't care about anything but how much money you make, while the majority of southern girls are more into the guy than they are his wallet (both are generalizations by the way). While they wouldn't mind a fat wallet they would take him with or without it. 😉

So true. I calculated it once. BU and GTown make about 1.3-1.5 million dollars on secondaries a year. Oh, and the Adcom members are VOLUNTEERS!!!
 
By the way, that was probably one of the hardest workouts I've ever done in my life... The guy who runs it is insane!

I can't believe it was free. I'm so doing that next week too. ha ha.

wow i never really bothered to calculate that. Gtown must be laughing all the way to the bank since they probably trash 1/2 their apps at least before even looking at one of them lol. I really wonder how they go through 13k apps.....kinda scary if you think about it.

lol i know that was kinda my point but im wondering how the dump apps. That was my point about what could be scary. Everyday i get more freaked out i need to quit sdn and realize the people here are academic robots and not representative of who gets in from the pre med pool :laugh:.

probably but what are the cutoffs...i wonder how many people are applying who have like a 25 mcat or a 3.0 GPA with no realisitic shot. I know of everyone i know applying all have similar stats to that. Maybe there are just a lot more people applying with horrid stats then i think (whihc i think is true)

But the people with the high stats probably don't actually want to go there and would pick a top tier school over them. It's most likely the people with lower stats that actually would attend if they got in. You think they consider this when deciding which apps to actually read more closely?
 
be aware that you have to fill out info for each secondary like legacy, undergrad school, etc etc. sometimes those are important to the schools 🙂

I really think that is what goes on at some schools. When adcoms see someone like kissme they know they are not going to attend creighton or nymc or something (dont anyone freak out im not saying they are bad schools). So they probably factor that into the process. It would explain why people are often amazed that their "safeties" didnt pan out. Its just a guess though no one really knows this outside of those in the committee at gtown
 
They probably also then cut off high stats people too.

Some people think BU and GTown both have a lower and upper limit, which would make sense.

I bet if you're applying from instate they wouldn't apply the same ceiling limit, but you never know.
