Ha ha. Dude, I bet he's just embarrassed. I don't know, because it's not like any of us haven't had drunk SDN moments. I know I've had a few in my day... Although, I never had any with a new girl sitting on my couch...
 
Anyone else watch gundam when it was on cartoon network in the mid 90's?

I remember watching it in 5th-8th grade... I am getting sort of nostalgic for it right now...
 
I was informed of Commonwealth medical college in Scranton, PA. Anyone heard of it?

I just added that to my AMCAS application. 😀 one more school to do.

i just know its a new school and i doubt they would take a lot of OOS applicants you should check into that. Their whole mission statement is training docs for that general scranton area as there is a shortage. I dont know if that means no OOS but id be inclined to think they will greatly prefer their own residents.

i'm surprised it's not even in the 2009-2010 MSAR.

I read their mission statement and they take a lot of in-state for their region. But it's worth a shot.

i doubt anything would come of it but, I dont want to be indentified on here by an adcom or something. I also dont want to not speak my mind and have some adcom read what i said and think badly of it. So Id rather just delete/make a fake mdapps and then after the cycle is done ill update it for real. It was recomended to me by someone here that I do that anyways. Probably being overly paranoid but w/e. Theres too many fail pre meds on here anyways who freak out at anything that isnt a typical pre med response. Its like why make your fb private? Is it going to hurt you? doubtful, but do you really want them to see that picture of you ****ed up one night doing crazy stuff? 😉

but how will people give you inputs if they don't know your real stats?

I dont really care about input from random pre meds i dont even know. I feel I know where i stand and have talked to a few adcoms at different of schools. I know 2 personally really well. If I have questions id ask the ones i know from UCLA and UCI. Any advice they would give me is way better then a random pre med who is talking out of his ass would know right? Thats my thoughts at least. That and if i really wanted others input i would just pm them or something. The typical SDN input is either A) You are kissme and people hate on you becuase you have god like stats and you know you ar a lock anyways. Or you have people in the middle with 3.7 and 32 mcats who people say something like "you have ashot apply broadly and im sure you will do well" And then you have people with the 29-31 mcats who sdn says should retake and will never ever make it into med school because that is too pathetic of a score. I think i covered every what are my chances thread advice right there lol

Ha ha. I never got into Gundam, but I was a serious Anime fanatic for a while there. If you want to watch something new that is really entertaining you should check out Full Metal Alchemist. I thought it was great (just finished the series a few months ago).

My lab is only ever really fun when I get to work with patients, but I have one tomorrow and probably 4 next week, so life is good. 🙂

Yeah, I think it's a good idea to randomize. I saw this attending for JHU crusing this thread last night and I'm sure he loved my comments about his institution. ha ha.

But I still feel the same way, but I guess I should qualify that I didn't mean it to be representive of individuals within the university, but rather the university itself. 😉

Dude, that's so true. While I do agree with applying broadly, I feel that people are either too optimistic or to pessimistic. In reality the process is about finding a school that feels like you would be a good fit, and in turn you finding a school you feel you would be a good fit. The lower your GPA and MCAT the fewer options you have, but you can still get into medical school (well, to a point). The problem I think people fail to realize is that a lot of schools actually care about who you are and what they feel you will bring to the field of medicine. If they don't believe your sincerity in the pursuit of medicine it doesn't matter how good your stats are, they are going to give that spot to someone they believe knows what they are getting into.

Just my opinion, but I believe that's how it works.
 
So I just got back from the dentist. Half my mouth is numb and I have to get a root canal on Monday. FML.

Dude, last night (well actually the night before) I had amazingly vivid dream that I flew out to Georgetown for an interview, but it wasn't in DC, it was on some coastal marshland peninsula. I was the first interviewee and I remember interviewing in a cubicle, with this douche for a professor I had sitting at a table outside chatting it up with the other profs there. I ended up chatting with him for a bit, then I left the building, which was more of a castle. I had a good feeling about the interview and believed an acceptance was in sight. Then when I was standing in the marsh outside of the castle walls, that was Georgetown, I dove over the water and flew out over the ocean. I remember tearing off my suit in midair as the wind was ripped and glid across my body tearing away the bonds I felt I was living under. I finally felt free, so I soared higher, through the clouds... Then I blinked and woke up in a heirum with 12 beautiful scantily clad women... :shrug:

Good times.

that sucks 🙁...if it makes you feel better a month ago or so I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and they were all way impacted so it was painful surgery🙁. took me like 1 month to stop having pain. Though i was on vicodin that month....so it was good times also 😉
 
I want to go home. I hate when I have nothing to do in lab.👎

I just don't want some adcom to come asking me why I posted something about their school. I know I'll probably get discovered if someone actually knows who I am on here. Most of you guys know where I go to school just from me saying it, but I'll probably try to avoid that for the rest of the cycle. At least until I'm in where I want to go.

I'm actually only posting sparingly in the school specific threads too. I figure that'd be the first place I went if I was on an adcom lurking around.

yeah. I ****ing want to high tail it out of here. If it wasn't for the LOR she's writing me, I wouldn't even be here reading Lord of the Rings on the bench.
 
I am getting paid through a internship I won through my college... I am required to work 40 hours a week but don't get paid more for working over it....

Dude offered me a job after I graduate and a great LOR for when I apply next cycle.... I can't see myself man'ing up and telling him I won't work more than 40 hours a week this summer...

Don't worry. He probably won't be there Saturday and you'll just need to go in and check on experiments you started on Friday.

I did that a little bit ago as well. The only thing that helps is the gym, man. If you can start going regularly you'll have so much more energy. Now I can get through a day with a venti drip coffee at starbucks, so I'm good with my 480 mg of caffeine daily. Less than that though and you would be best to avoid me... ha ha.

OMG i just realized i made a mistake on my amcas app....i put one of my jobs as 9/2006-3/2007....when it was 9/2005-3/2007...on my Ps i wrote about working full time during my time at CC and now its going to look like im lieing........?Is there any way to edit this?
