Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
youre only 22 you are not that old compared to most here😛. Seeing that makes me feel old though 🙁

haha, i am super young but i DID get fbook way early. i remember when it suddenly opened to more than the ivies and people flipped out. THEN it opened to (gasp!) public schools and people REALLY flipped out. THEN the high schoolers had access... fbook was already pretty lame by that point so whatever.

not sure about all the other nonsense in here, but im pretty sure this used to be a med school forum.

just to be clear... this thread is sort of our escape from the rest of the pre-allo craziness. if you have specific questions about LORs or anything else, you're better off doing a search or posting in another thread in pre-allo. but anyway, hello, fellow 2014er!

when i got on FB (late 04 or early 05) it was college students only. but you could post up pictures.

yeah, i had it for at least 1.5 years before the pics 😀

I was there pre-pictures, youngin.

:horns:

i was referring to the misplaced battle of the sexes arguments going on, not the friendlier banter that usually goes on.

i also feel like this thread is direct access to the other 2014 people, so i thought i would ask some questions along the way...although your point is well taken.

hello to you too!

I may apply there later if I'm not having any success getting interviews. I need to go read these requirements, hopefully I have them met because I don't feel like going out of my way to apply to another school. Although, I do really like VTC.

yeah i hear you bryson. i think their system of having applicants track down writers only after they are granted a secondary, then making those writers do some crazy evaluation about you is going to deter a lot of applicants. im gonna try to get to the bottom of this and see if they will just accept my normal letters like every other school in the world would.

here's a fun fact: i got a committee letter from my school so i know next to nothing about LORs. that's the real reason i steer people with those questions in another direction :meanie:

All you old people around for the beginning of facebook.

Someone today told me I looked 16. 😡

That's not so bad. On my way back from WashU last year (the first time), the TSA guy asked if my parents were really going to let me fly all the way to our nation's capital all by myself.

their lor requirement is why im not applying there really, theres an admin from that school that posts stuff on there, you might wanna check there or maybe hed be happy to answer some questions...sorry im not more help.

Someone convince me i shouldnt buy an iphone now 🙁. Im getting tempted 🙁

What are their requirements? I've never heard of this school. Do you have a link for them?

Dude, I want the one of the old ones. They're only $99 now! Or a 16gig for $149!

I'm just not sure if I can cover the extra 20 a month in service charges.

I'm going to wait until right before med school starts before I buy a new phone.

I was thinking the same thing. But I'm probably going to cave after applications go out, because my current phone sucks.

Oh, I'm getting a new computer too.
My laptop needs to last me until med school, also. That's why I was getting so worried a week ago when it wasn't working. I'll probably cave and get an iPhone then, too. When you're that far in debt, what's an extra couple bucks a month for a really cool phone?

That's why I bought a cheap netbook to last me until next year.👍

I want a new computer for med school. I like my phone. It's cute and it has a slide-out keyboard. What more could I need?

Me too!

Oh, I'm getting a new computer too.

Dude, I don't know if you're a gamer, but if you are this is game is going to be sooooo sweet! This is the real reason why I want a new PC... Hopefully the game doesn't cause me to fail out of medical school...

That's the best trailer for a game I've ever seen!

Amen to that!

Guys, you should really wait until you get to school before buying a new laptop. Some schools require a specific model. Case for example, requires that you choose one of the five models they buy in bulk.

That's really cool, it's nice that they give you some sort of choice. I would kind of feel forced if a school just gave me one. Plus it's not like they're giving you one when they say so, you're paying for it somewhere else anyway.

Do you get a discount on it then?

The old ones are the reason im even interested 99 dollars sounds good to me!!!!!! Once my car situation is fixed, if i have even 99 dollars left im buying one 🙂...

I didnt know that....guess ill wait, ive had the same macbook for 3 years now and it still works amazing 🙂

Old facebook was the best when it was only college students, and no one knew what the hell a wall or a poke was. And back then, you could add random hot chicks and it was totally cool because you went to the same school

youre going to make kissme go crazy again 😉

Oh, huge. 🙂

I'm sure not all medical schools require specific laptops. But as for me, I am waiting until next year July.

Not all of them do, no. But it's those ones that do that'll get you.

Well, here at Case they had issues in previous years with people bringing older laptops that couldn't quite hack it. Since the testing (and a number of other things) is done through computer, they decided to standardize a bit. But, if you get really lucky, you'll get an IT department that is just as awesome. They waited until WWDC to order our machines just in case there were upgrades!!👍👍👍

up with the sun again? 😉

and i have no idea what WWDC is but that is awesome that they waited.

inadvertent cherry on TOP!

Forgot my umbrella. It's supposed to rain all day. Don't worry, I'm still in a good mood it's only a 10 minute walk home.

On a medical related note, everyone go watch the obama speech to the AMA. Whether you agree with what he says or not (I thought some of the stuff was idiotic some was good), you need to be informed about this for interviews. It's an hour long, but pretty interesting to see what direction our government wants to head on the healthcare issue.

meh, i just realized most of you are too young to remember facebook in its infancy. yay for being one of the first handful of schools to get it!

haha dw you identify your alma mater in that post (well, you narrow it down to two). I distinctly remember getting my school email address in July 04 and being stoked, becuase that meant I could get on fb. That and Spring 05 when a freshman stayed up all night and joined EVERY group that existed on fb at the time--i think there were probably 200 or so then.

sigh, now any creeper with an email can get on and make it myspace.

I am so sick of writing secondaries! =(

ok i guess thats enough whining for the day =)

i think i only narrowed it down to 6, actually. and i'll go right ahead and say i didn't go to harvard, so i narrowed it down to 5.

I just realized that I have 4000+ posts. I mean, am I totally cool or what?😀

Blue is totally weird.

i swear, it edited itself automatically!
