Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
did we both take it on the same day? July 2? I'm getting nervous as Aug 4 approaches. 30+ for me is golden. I'm praying everyday for a miracle.

yup, same day. and i keep changing my mind about how I think I did. it goes from about 15-45.

i think i want to add four more schools, then i'll have an even 20. i feel good about that. so . . . any ideas?

i think i have enough reaches and i have enough safeties . . . i think I need more middle-of-the-road schools. so what are the hidden gems? what schools are totally underrated? i'm not particularly interested in research, i just want to go somewhere that i think i will be really happy. who has the happiest students?

happy students is subjectve imo and depends way too heavily on your incomming class. Anyways I think some to maybe think about would be

OHSU, USC, suny downstate, univ. rochester, univ. vermont, tufts, creighton, maybe georgetown.

It all depends on where you want to be? Do you like midwest? east coast? Want to avoid snow, small areas, big cities? etc. I think the above schools are some OOS ones im interested in.

I've heard good things about Jefferson, AECOM, and a lot of the ones Elijah listed.

I can sleep late tomorrow even though I have work!
Then it's off to Baton Rouge to kill the freedom of my apartment by moving out. Back to living with the parents 7 days a week instead of 5.
I think I might finish Loyola's tonight.

I actually had all these on my list, and took them off 🙂 OHSU I really wanted to apply to, but for some reason I determined that I couldn't. I don't remember why now, but i want to say that there's an OOS GPA cutoff that I am below. Rochester and Vermont I took off just because I'm not sure I want to live so far away . . . but I might add Rochester back on. I've heard good things about it, and it's not as far away as Vermont is.

Tufts is too expensive and I think I'd hate the area. I do kind of want to avoid cities that are like a clusterf#ck. the traffic around chicago is slowly turning me into a rage-filled person and i dont want that any more. Also I do hate the snow and cold but I'd put up with it for the right school.

Me too. When I asked this question I was curious to see if it would be mentioned. I'm going to look into it.

I know happiness is objective, but I've heard schools be referred to before as having really happy students. Loyola and Rush for example, but those are both already on my list!

if you are emailing back and forth with someone from an admissions office and they help you/ answer your question, do you email them back one last time to say thank you? i hate not saying thank you to people, but for busy admissions people it seems like it would be more annoying than anything. or do you just gauge based on how annoyed they seem?

for the situation in question, i didnt reply to say thanks because she seemed busy, she was giving me short and fast answers.

You could. Personally, I just say thank you at the bottom whenever I send an email message to adcoms.

Mornings, everybody. I feel it's another good day today. Going to work (ugh), then finalizing my Wake and Loyola secondaries for mail tomorrow. They're basically already done. Saturdays off can be nice if you're not hungover.

Please, do tell.

I'm just curious...

(Re: Rochester) I've mostly just heard that it's a really good school and it's in a nice area. (I think someone suggested it to me when I said I was looking for schools in areas with decent camping/ hiking opportunities.) It's kind of in the middle of nowhere which, personally, I like. 🙂

I enjoy these types of schools too. Maybe I should research it more and think about adding it.

Understandable. Just make sure to bring a car for those camping/hiking opportunities. 🙂

If you are applying to schools in New York, then I would definitely recommend it. What do you have to lose? (except money, of course...)

ok, i think that i will put Rochester back on my list for the next round of primaries.

And of course I'll bring my car . . . thats part of why I want to avoid huge crowded citites. I want to be able to USE my car! and not have to pay for/ fight to the death for parking anymore!

OHSU does not have some out of state GPA cut off that will cut you out considering you have a 3.4. In fact they are known for not caring about stats and liking people who have had very interesting stories (non-trad) or paths through life (your artist stuff probably fits that bill). They take a huge number of OOS and it really irritates the in state reisdents somewhat as they dont give a huge preference to IS for a public school. I would add it again if the only reason you took it off was the OOS reqs. It also fits nicely the things you listed about liking schools. Also if you like jeff you might as well think about drexel? Though you might consider drexel a safety so .

Oh and what about penn state? Not too far away from where else you are applying, are a solid mid tier school in the middle of where, and if you are worried about money, ive heard they tend to give a lot fo aid.

This book is crazy interesting!!

http://www.normandoidge.com/normandoidge/MAIN.html

Ahhh! Part of why the prevalence of autism and ADHD has tripled in the past 40 years could be infants' chronic exposure to "white noise", which the undifferentiated, immature brain cannot filter out, leading to attention deficit disorders, autism, and other related conditions.

I highly recommend this book. 👍👍

Woot, two secondaries left. Then, no more secondaries for the rest of my life!😀

Good good. Highly productive.

Thunderstorm outside. I love thunderstorms. Though they tend to screw with my internets. 🙁

i was in NY for the weekend...gorgeous and sunny.

cross over into NH...sky opens up and god diarrheas all over the place...cats dogs iguanas and tons of other pets were being rained down onto my car 🙁

im trying to do georgetowns... and i hate it. i dont like this essay. idk why. i think its the fact that i have to focus on cura personalis. but im trying really hard not to do it. the lower averages keep drawing me in...even though i know its a fit-selective school

Have been on vacation for a week, just got zerg rushed by like 4 secondaries.. working on them. USF's secondary is ridic.
