UUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHH! I am getting SO frustrated that my premed committee letter isn't ready yet. WTF!!!!!!

I was too busy at work today to call them, but i'm sending them a long email right now. If they don't reply this weekend, then I am calling them on monday morning. Yup. I'm getting that letter. ASAP.

Seriously. I have now received personal emails from three schools saying that they have my app and secondary, but why aren't my letters in? One from mayo, a while ago, one from med col wisconsin on tuesday, and just now one from northwestern. They are making me so nervous, with all their banter about having rolling admissions, blah blah blah. JUST LET ME IN ALREADY, you can have my LORs later!

too frustrating. the end.

let it out! nothing like a little venting for some release. hopefully your email to the committee is civil!

What a long day. Manual labor is oh so exhausting.🙁

wanna hit me with the basics of building one?

Dang, that could be a book. Basically you need to pick out a motherboard/CPU combo, power supply, case + fans, RAM, a CD drive and a hard drive. That's really all you need to make it work. Other goodies you might want are a graphics card, sound card, wifi card, extra USB ports, etc.

The last time I build anything most of the peripherals were connected using PCI slots on the motherboard (the graphics card used AGP), but now I believe everything uses PCI Express (except for the CD drive and the hard drive, which I believe use serial ATA).

Check out this for more info, it seems fairly recent: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/the-geek-blog/building-a-new-computer-part-1-choosing-hardware/

yea i pussied out 🙁 4-6 PM traffic from philly to NJ = 2 hours on the bridge (friday night atlantic city crowd)

gonna go to the gym (probly skip the nap) eat and head the the ER

hopefully theres some naked chicks there

HAHAHA    That's absolutely hilarious. I wish I got patients like that.

I recently had to pick up a drunk 21 yof laying in her bathtub covered in vomit, and you guessed it, naked. They put her in a hall bed, and the entire hallway smelled like barf until like 5:00 am.

That sounds fun. We get a homeless guy in the ER about once every two weeks that needs to be showered but his clothes always end up in the hall I have to walk through to almost every room. Gross...
So my last day of work is tomorrow!!!! 😀 😀 😀
I have a feeling I won't be back for almost a year, since I'm planning on staying at school and getting a job in Baton Rouge over the winter. Yay!

Damn, man. I never got anything like that!

While normally a naked 21 year old sounds hot, the idea of one covered in vomit is anything but... :barf:

u guys make me think i volunteer in the only ER where nothing happens ever lol...🙁

Now that I've moved back to school, I feel like I should be doing homework. But school doesn't start until the 24th. I really should prep for my Vandy interview though... less than a week away. :scared:

That's pretty cool but really scary. I'm already freaking out about my first one and it's a little over 2 weeks away.
And I never feel like I should be doing homework during the summer, even if I'm in BR.
As soon as I get my final grades, school is absent from my mind for almost 4 months for me.
So, just an FYI - med schools will probably start handing out their first acceptances 2 months from tomorrow. Wow - who thought we'd ever be so close to that day?

Don't worry, man. Mine was pretty weak too. I saw some cool stuff in the ED, but for the most part... 😴

Mine is mostly boring, too. I've just seen enough cool stuff to use for about 3 or 4 different secondary essays. The cool things I've seen have been varied enough to give me different takes on multiple aspects of medicine.

Homework? But you haven't even started school.:annoyed:

I saw old people... Fat people... and stupid people... sigh...

I did see cool stuff shadowing all the different departments in the hospital though, that's where most of my stories came from.

That's cool you got to shadow all the different departments. My only experience with other places than the ER are a day with an opthalmologist and whatever unusual stuff happens that's not necessarily EM-type stuff.

But that's one good thing about the ER - you get a bit of everything.

So true, man. Although, you never get to watch a diagnosis of anything. 😉

And that is why I don't think I want to do EM. It's also not cool that a lot of times you don't find out what happens to the patients.

So true. I had to write 12 case studies about patients who presented in the ED and for 90% of them I had to look-up their disorders online and come up with a "creative solution" to their problem... Aka, prescriptions, treatment methods, long-term prognosis, etc.

The research about the disorders and diseases was far more interesting.

Morning bump. Oh wait, it's 3:00 in the afternoon. Long night...

That and classes are starting soon, so people may be moving and stuffs...

Or we're just too lazy to post...

I'm feeling sooooo lazy today. I don't even want to leave my apt. I wish my Xbox wasn't broken... 🙁

anyone mod their xbox? i would buy one but i dont play video games (at all usually) but if the games themselves weren't much of an investment then id get an arcade for madden/fifa

bummer about the xbox.

it is sooooooooooooo quiet in here!

Yeah, it was like losing a child... 🙁

I'll get over it though. I'm not sure if I want to invest in another one though...

Yeah, I bet now that school is starting up people will start to get busy with other things, but I'm sure they'll be posting quite a bit about secondaries, interviews, and acceptances (hopefully not many rejections).

Nah, I never modded mine, because I was worried it would void my warranty... Now I'm starting to think I should have... Those bastards... 😡

damn they are saying Vick is pretty much ready to play.

I'm excited to see how he does. I think the Eagles are going to be a force this year now that they have Vick. Could be an interesting season.

I wish I was on a fantasy league right now and could snatch him up...

got semi-news today. my hopefully-polite email to my premed committee seems to have worked. my advisor said that if the person who volunteered to write the first draft of my LOR doesn't submit it by monday, he will write it himself and send it in on monday. hoorah! the only question is.... why isn't he writing it in the first place, like I was told? oh well.

Very true. I work full-time in the ER so i definitely go through MANY shifts never seeing anything outside of vaginal discharge, abdominal pain and flu... but on the other hand, you get a lot of diamonds in the rough.. tonight I got to see a patient with rhabdomyolysis, one with an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage and one with a recurring intussusception of his small intestine. On the other hand, an 88 y/o patient also kicked me in the ribs and called me a filthy f-ing pig tonight. You get your good days and your bad ones.
