yah but ive nvr had a reason to ever buy a suit, only rent. I have dress clothes but when you buy a suit, you gotta buy everything else to match it perfect 🙂

haha. i work for a nonprofit... i come to work in jeans and a t shirt. no suit necessary for that kind of interview, just nice clothes (of which i have plenty).

dw -- I got all my work suits (5) at Banana Republic. They're fantastic

I also am a HUGE fan of Martin and Osa (the "Banana Republic" brand for American Eagle). You need to catch them at sale time, but their blouses are great. Haven't tried their suits.
 
okay, i'm really frustrated right now. one of my dad's friends is on the adcom at BU, and i met with him in april to get some tips on my application. he assured me and my dad that he would "go to bat" for me, that he could get me an interview and after that it would be up to me. i just got an email rejecting me. i'm not being greedy in this process; i'm THRILLED that i have two interviews already, but this makes me sad and nervous. if i can't get into a place where i have connections, i feel like i'm totes screwed. le sigh.

don't worry, I think BU takes pleasure in rejecting as many people as possible as early as possible.

i know that... but i sent this dude a PDF of my AMCAS, along with my resume, in june and he said he'd get me an interview. either my app is not as good as i think, or he has waaaay less pull on the adcom than he thinks.

well in the Ralph Lauren section you can. I got different bottom and size. they actually have a pretty sweet setup. the guys are very knowledgeable and helpful

may be different for women. didnt think about that.
 
dw when were you complete? BU start up the massacre again?? i thought i was safe 🙁

you can definitely mix and match at Macys -- I have monkey arms and thus need a size bigger in the tops than in the bottoms --usually it's a rack with suit jackets on one side and slacks on t'other. Banana Republic will have a cheaper, younger-looking selection though I'd wager.

Good news! Committee letter was sent in and received this morning!!!!!!!!!
I want to bake them a cake. Is that too much? Haha

probably just didnt have the pull he thought...i have a similar connection at USC...i hope he has as much pull as he says he does lol. guess ill find out in sept when interviews go out. In general though, id guess very few people do have that type of pull...while i know a few people at UCI who do have that pull and have used it to admit a few students, its pretty rare.

If i reapply i wont waste my time agian on BU lol...such a huge waste of time.

Sorry about BU. I don't think they're good at assessing how much an applicant actually wants to go there. At least you have two other interviews!

yea, i need to do that after every interview 😛. it's just sad though b/c some people are flying out right after the interviews. i'm scheduling every interview like a vacation. this fall is going to be GREAT. 😎

Yeah - the only downside is that I have to do the secondary (beastly, supposedly). Of course, I didn't prewrite this one and I haven't written an essay in weeks, I'm kind of rusty. :laugh:
I'm just wondering about Vandy's English requirement. I didn't count on getting the secondary, and they need 2 English classes. I don't have any, because I tested out. I'd have 1 year to take 2 classes, that means I'd have to mess with my schedule for this semester when classes are already full. And then I heard something about prereqs being complete by December 😱 and then I might not even get in... So why would I take English classes if I don't need to and it would only be for one school I don't have guaranteed acceptance to? 😕

it's my parents' 24-year anniversary. I wonder if I can get an invite on their anniversary, that would be a pretty sweet present (for them of course).

and my teeth actually don't hurt yet which is kind of surprising and nice, but my bottom lip is numb which makes it very hard to eat/drink anything haha😛
