This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
congrats! how was creighton. the campus looks really nice

davis is near sacramento right? how far is that from irvine
davis is like a 1hr flight or 6 hr drive from irvine...but still happy for the opportunity to stay in state.

Creighton was pretty sweet...i mean the only downside is location...but stilll i really enojyed it there, the students there, just everything was awesome 🙂...hopefully good news in october. If i cant stay in state at a UC, creighton will be very high on my list thats for sure. They said our files will be reviewed and a decision made at the end of sept..but we cant hear back till oct 15 or so becoz of that amcas rule.

finally can board plane nite guys hope eveyrthing is going well for everyone 🙂...oh and too many invites but grats to all especially kissme!! hopkins is sick

yea creighton is in nebraska right, its not too far from kansas city so maybe you can hit that up...

dw's avatar reminds me of save the last dance. i found that movie to be funny. great soundtrack

hahahahaha i too found that movie to be funny. and RIDICULOUS. with an awesome soundtrack. but you need exposure to more ballet if my avatar makes you think of that

AAAHHHH!!! Hopkins invite!! :soexcited:
WOW Soooooo awesome!

Just got the invite from SUNY Upstate!

Finally heard something from somebody!

Woot.!.1.!

I'm one away from winning Bryce's jeep unless someone else gets to the 10 first...

I would really like a jeep, but I'll just take 1 acceptance first.

Yeah, at the top of one of the pages over the past few days Bryce clearly promised a jeep to the person who reaches the 10 interview mark first 🙄 (if it hasn't already happened).

🙂
Haha, I didn't promise a jeep for the first with 10 interviews. I was just exclaiming that I got a top without meaning to. So I posted a picture of a 'soft' top because I felt like it was uncontested.

Oh, btw, I hit 9 invites yesterday too. Northwestern. I got it while I was on my road trip down to Atlanta. I'm 100% PUMPED! :soexcited:

Congrats!

what up, from Cali.

flew in yesterday. someone else said they were in Phoenix. I had to stop over there. from Phoenix to Santa Barbara i had to use a small propeller plane, so I had to walk to the plane...it was 108 degrees on the ground. Unacceptable.

on a plus note, Santa Barbara is BEAUTIFUL. i'm actually in Ojai, CA until tomorrow, then I'm in SB for the whole week. Anyone from around there?

Also, I caved and did a mock interview. It was helpful in the end I guess. my interviewer was very excited to do it. Actually wants to do it a few more times so he can switch up styles. It's funny too because he went through my entire school list and told me what each place will most likely ask and how the interviews will be (we applied to like 90% of the same schools)...idk how accurate it is since it is probably dependent on who I get that day. but good nonetheless. learned some things, gotta go read some more things. I actually found it most beneficial b/c I was put on the spot to answer questions. So it was just interesting to hear myself give the responses and see how comfortable I was with them...I'm gonna change my approach to a few questions.

yeah mock interviews are really helpful. Calms your nerves.

Yeah, so I'm getting ready for the Mayo interview this week...

has anyone here actually looked at what that place offers (besides the $$$ and resources)?

Talk about AMAZING curriculum. They start cadaver work in year 1- January. Enough time to actually know a little about what your doing before you do it. And they have a GREAT philosophy about students taking care of themselves. Just great stuff. The teacher in me gets all a twitter just thinking about these ideas. Really different from almost everything else I've reviewed on other places so far. This is one interview that I think I might actually get anxious about...

Not that I don't want to do my best on EVERY chance I'm given, but this is a tough nut to crack even after interview time from the stats I've seen.

I'll try to relax this week. 😉

so geeked when i got that interview. i love the small class size. ever since i did public school through grade school, i try and stick with small, intimate classes. my high school was as big as my college...which is pretty sad for a high school if you think about it. :smack:

so for anyone who has interviewed recently, any general tips? i think my main thing is i just dont want to sound contrived in any of my answers, and hopefully make things more conversational. stressful.

hmm. sometimes your interviewer will ask you applicant-gaging questions, other times about your activities out of general interest. i think if you know how to relate one to the other, and make things sound interesting you will be fine. it will end up conversational, most of the time.

i think the idea of practicing is to make sure you don't fumble through your answer. just remember some key points and you can just flow from there

also take your time to greet people comfortable, as you would do it. say hi to the admissions receptionists, the students, security guard, hotel staff to get yourself comfortable as early as possible into the morning

some interviewees generally looked nervous and rigid throughout the day

I would say stay relaxed. I was pretty uncomfortable on my first one, but as the day went by I gradually felt more comfortable. Fellow applicants were pretty gregarious though, so that helped.

thanks for the tips guys. im usually a really relaxed, friendly guy...i just hope i dont get too nervous and become one of those rigid interviewees you've seen on the trail.

dang, Sub, I just wasted 10 seconds of my life looking into those eyes.
