God, no. think of it like this. what will be the two most important things in your life- your career and your potential spouse (not potential spouse for everyone, but for me, yeah.) and you're being asked to choose which one is more important. this choice could very potentially lead to a breakup. then you cant be 100% happy about med school because you are reeling from a breakup. or, if you choose your second or third choice school to be with SO, and then you break up during school (which is very probable) you might really regret not going to your #1.

sounds mean! when you say it that way. My SO is not in school (we are 26) but he doesn't really want to leave his job. his job sucks and i think he could do better, and that a change would do him good, but he's just one of those change-fearing types. fortunately he doesnt know too much about schools so if i tell him i am choosing one school over another because it is a way better school (even if it isnt necessarily) he would believe it. i guess the important thing is, from the very beginning, he knew this was my goal and i was working towards it. now, if it happens, i hope he chooses to come with me. but if he doesnt its not like he didnt know it might eventually come to this.

man, there are a lot of people going through this. we need to start our own sub-thread. the relationship woes of c/o 2014.

this was my point-- the grass is always greener.

but i still maintain that when you're going through a stressful process like this, having a SO >> not.

Other stressful things, sure having a SO is awesome. But a stressful thing that potentially puts you hours away from them for 4 years is something easier done alone I think. Besides it's not like this is super stressful anymore I think. I think we all just think about it too much. It's not like we really can do much now besides out interviews. Everything else is out of our hands.

And as a SO two years ago, many times we'll put on the happy face and be supportive during the stress of applying, but every time the applicant gets an interview far away, it's pretty upsetting. Yes, you ultimately want them to be super happy and go where they love it, but you know it won't be where you are and you know they feel bad for you because they're leaving. It's just an all around bad situation. Everyone trying to protect everyone else's feelings and feeling guilty for wanting to be happy. It's no fun.
 
Hi, all! Loved Vandy! My interview was totally weird, though. We didn't talk about anything application related. It seemed like he genuinely wasn't interested in getting to know me as a person and applicant. It was conversational, but not like we hit it off and had nothing to do with the task at hand. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

I'm going to send him a thank you email (first one this cycle :laugh:), but I don't know what to write, seeing as I don't know how today went.

i really think polygamy should be legal, am i seriously alone on this? even for women. lets make it fair both ways.

i think they should play a massive prank on gay people in california by legalizing polygamy before same sex marriage and then just tell them that they just got punk'd

not if they are having a hard time with it, too. even though he was excited for me for my interview, i could also definitely feel the tension grow as soon as it happened. i think the reality is finally setting in for him (that i might have to leave) and he isn't coping well. 🙁 (edit- i realize i pretty much just said what ksmi said, but from the opposite POV.) it's true, man.

too bad you don't live here, d-dubs. i have so many single male friends, always asking me about my single female friends- but i don't have any!!!

so i have my apartment to myself tonight. obviously, this means i'm sitting on the couch in my sweatpants watching america's funniest home videos... and cracking up. MLIA, where the A stands for AWESOME.

i am visiting my parents at the moment. and i have a job at the ass- crack of dawn so i am drinking wine and getting ready for my job (which means, i am drawing pictures.) and drinking. did i mention drinking? cheers!

anyone else wake up much earlier when they are hungover? i am so much more productive when i drink the night before. olive garden is good hangover food

they have all you can eat pasta too, im gonna miss out on that
