Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
👍 on the Fleur de Bee, as it actually sounds right. 👎 on Fleur de Tiger; not even trying to hate on them, that just sounds forced.

Actually, that's just what I call it. I don't even know if it has an official name. But you're right, that name does sound stupid. I must come up with something different and catchy...

Isn't it a thursday?

Thursday is a really big night here for going out and such. It might even be bigger than Saturday night, since the bars close at 2. Not that I ever go to the Baton Rouge bars, they suck. 👎

Quietly (or not so quietly), there is one school that has been giving me a headache since July...I've been debating withdrawing just so I can stop receiving emails, but the way things are going I'd probably still get the emails.

Pretty sure I know which school you're talking about...and I'm on the same boat.

Thursdays are pretty big in the east coast because most schools don't have Friday courses (left open for internship days)

Friday nights are bigger and then I think Saturdays

Thursday and Saturday are the big nights here. I used to like going out on other weeknights a lot more than weekend nights because bars get really crowded on the weekends.

Morning 2014!

Who wants to withdraw from some schools even before an acceptance somewhere else?

Oh, good evening everyone BTW. :hello:
Me. But that would be silly and I know it's entirely possibly that the 6 schools I've interviewed at could all result in waitlists/rejections, so i'm just going to keep going on interviews to places I don't really want to go until I get an acceptance.

we get GIANT roaches. and when i say WE, i mean everyone. unless you live in those cement dorms or out of the world center city condos/apts. philly is pretty old city with old buildings and rusty tubing

ew!😱 if I end up at temple i'll definitely be asking you about the best way to avoid the mice and roaches!!

i missed the dodgers come back. always like seeing Boston lose

👍

And yesterday was my really good friend's birthday.

Don't feel like going to class. Class is stupid.

you shouldn't go to class, class is stupid

i called in sick to work. my PI wanted to bring food to my apt... I'm still not sure how to respond to it since I would have to clean/throw out trash/reorganize my apt if he comes over just to not look like a mess

Cute. But I'd just decline his offer.

Star caliber? Sure. One of the top 5-10 players in the league at the time? No way.

These are Chauncey's numbers for 2003-2004: 35.4mpg, 16.9ppg, 3.5rpg, 5.7apg, 1.1spg, FG% 39.4.

That's right, your 2004 Finals MVP didn't even shoot 40% from the field that season. He was (rightly) not even considered one of the top 12 players in his own conference that year and didn't make the All-Star team, let alone an All-NBA team. He was a good player and the team was solid, but more than anything their title was an artifact of the most incredibly weak Eastern conference ever and the Lakers getting injured in the Finals; if healthy, the top 4 teams in the West would have beaten those Pistons. That team wasn't great, and honesty Chauncey has always been a bit overrated since then.
Agreed. They never really had a true all-star on that team. Which was kind of cool while it lasted.

Not Saints uniforms. Fleur de lis are a LA thing, not just a Saints thing.

Aren't they a French thing originally? (Which would explain their presence in LA.)

I had this really cool sparkly fleur-de-lis necklace from Express and got all sorts of questions. Lots of people just thought I was a Saints fan. But one time some sexy dude from Quebec asked me if I was also from Quebec because of it . . . makes sense since they are French speaking there too . . .

in other news look at this amazing product i stumbled across and had to buy (now drinking it mixed with my coffee)

(yes, that's hot chocolate with caffeine)
like i need more caffeine . . . oh well. have a great day everyone! 😀

Question for dw and other Yankee fans: How do you decide between liking the Yankees and the Mets? Same thing goes for people from Chicago, if there are any.

Yeah, it's a French thing, as are most things here.

Also, doesn't chocolate already have caffeine? Is it just like adding more?

It claims to have as much as a cup of coffee, so yeah, I guess they've added more 🙂 i think it's meant to be pseudo-coffee for wussies who don't like coffee

Unbiased view:
For Chicago, it's essentially where you grow up, but this varies.

Northsiders/north suburbs normally like the Cubs because their team is located in the north part of Chicago. Southsiders/south suburbs normally like the White Sox because that's where they are located. This is often passed down through the family. I grew up on the northside but my dad was a southsider so I was raised a White Sox fan.

Biased view:

If you know what baseball is and like winning, you are a White Sox fan.
If you like having a night on the town and a baseball game happens to be going on and don't mind a century long world series dry spell, then you are a Cubs fan.

😛

ugh . . . i hate cubs fans

i think like 90% of cubs fans i've met have been insecure girls who like to talk about how much they love the cubs, but in fact i sense they have no interest in baseball and are just trying to win over guys by being like "look, i'm a girl who likes baseball! please love me!" they all wear too much makeup and chain smoke.

this doesnt really apply to everyone, just the ones who actually go to games a lot. i go past wrigley field on the train on my way home from class and i hate the snobby drunk idiots who get on at 5 pm after the game is over. they crowd my train with their smoke and booze smell and inane, loud conversation about how much they love smoking and boozing on weekdays.

ha ha . . . that wasn't even my first choice of words but you would have banned me for using the other one 😉

i didn't decide; i was born this way.

i also have a question for yankee fans-- how do we feel about the sox losing last night? on the one hand, i hate them and love watching them lose. on the other hand, we are very good at beating them, and the angels are yankee killers. i don't especially want to face anaheim in the alcs. thoughts?

thats a really good guestion! my thoughts are:

-i like to see the red sox lose whenever possible, but not so much so that i want to sacrifice our chances

-however, id like to think that we're good enough this year that we'll beat anyone including anaheim. also, playing the red sox in the postseason is always very different than playing them in the regular season and is always dangerous. so therefore im rooting for the sox to lose in this round.

oh, and i was born a yankee fan too🙂 my dads a huge fan and i think id be kicked out if i were anything different!

yeah, after i posted that i was browsing box scores from the last month or so of the season... the yankees ROCKED anaheim a couple of weeks ago. that was solid and gives me confidence.

as far as the NL, i think i'm rooting for the phillies. because they're like the cubs-- historically sort of pathetic, so you get excited when they actually play well :meanie:

ya im cautiously confident too, the team just "feels" different this year-like back to the great team we had in the late 90s as opposed to the last few years when they havent been very cohesive as a unit and seemed to be relying too heavily on just a couple players.

i think im rooting for the rockies in the nl, just cause the phillies won last year and i dont like the cards/dodgers. i dont care too much though as long as the yanks can crush them if we make it all the way to the world series🙂

Everyone is calling in sick today!! My first class this morning only had about 1/2 the people there. 'Tis the season, I s'pose...

Pretty sure I know which school you're talking about...and I'm on the same boat.

Ha. You, me, and at least 10-15 other people I know are in that same boat. Some have already bailed ship... Shame.

In other news, Good Afternoon everyone!!!

Who doesn't life coffee??

I'm a total coffee addict. 1 large iced americano, black with no room for cream, every morning from a local coffee shop. Mmmmm... 🙂
