Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nice vid.

So brooklyn, Downstate will snail mail us on 15th?

I know. 🙁

Sometimes I hate being a mod... like, I definitely wouldn't do anything to anyone else who posted that pic... but I feel like I gotta be super careful I don't post anything anyone could find even remotely offensive =/

This is why I would decline modship if the admins ever made the mistake of extending an offer to me:laugh:.

Or maybe I would accepted to a month so I could get the alum badge:idea:. and then quickly return to my previous ways:meanie:.

I should hear something from FIU and OSU this week. I better not have to reapply YET AGAIN. I'm gonna piss on the med school gods if that happens.

ahh. i want an acceptance this week (or the next) too. so i can start lookin for new jobs

how many schools are yall expecting this week/next

morning everyone!🙂

i should hear from Vermont and Temple on the 15th, then Georgetown either the 15th or shortly after

i'm chillin in the airport, on my way to chi-town for Pritzker tomorrow. first time in chicago (other than a layover for a flight). excited!

I'm supposed to get definite (yes, no, maybe) answers from 4 schools (Vandy, UVa, LSU-NO, and Wake). If I'm lucky I may hear from Baylor and Tulane too.

I love how "definite" the maybe option is at this point...

Anyhow, thought I'd let you know that JHU is amazing. You probably already knew that though. I have to say that it reminded me a LOT of Mayo in some really cool ways and that both have their strengths.

I think JHU went pretty well, but I can't control what they think of me at this point. I can tell you though that, with this being my 10th interview, I have yet to meet nicer faculty/staff/students. The location is great. I get the distinct impression that the people that knock Baltimore have only seen it from their hotel to the school (or via the cab ride from the airport). Just a short drive to the inner harbor area/many other locales will make you wonder why people diss the city like they do.

The lectures are amazing. Make sure you go to the greeters program the night before and find out when class meets the next day so you can be there. Brand new med school facilities and soon to be complete research building.

This school = amazing.

Nuff said.

Sorry if I'm completely boring everyone with these details about a place you may not have any interest in, but KSMI wanted to know and I needed to say it.

I've got to go relax now.

Yeah, the re-application thing scares me the most.

Blue, you lost me.

Are you afraid of not getting in anywhere this year?

We all are, really.

Here's to hoping everyone gets a (good) call from a dream school this week 👍

Yeah, there's always that fear.

Yeah, there's always that fear.

Don't let it get you down. You've had some great interviews. Just do your best to not go crazy until you hear back from your schools.

Easier said than done, I know.

That's why I picked a full scholarship state school over an Ivy

I did this as well. Except the ivy part, no big name school in their right mind would've accepted me.

Good luck.

Yeah, the re-application thing scares me the most.

Me too. I'm becoming numb to not getting any news so far though. If I don't get an invite by Thanksgiving I'll be way more nervous. Thanksgiving is a long way away though.

On a lighter note, how is everyone's fantasy football team doing?

some of us got the full scholarship at the ivy :meanie:

sorry, that was terrible. i feel very lucky and grateful that i have no undergrad loans. seriously.

in other news, went out last night and am now feeling sicker again. i could teach a course called "bad decision making 101."

also... i'm hoping to get some snail mail from downstate shortly after the 15th. umass said they only let the "superstar" applicants know this early; it takes most people muuuuch longer to get a decision. alas.

You were sick and went out? Bad dw.

Definitely hearing from OSU and Case. Probably Wake. Maybe Vandy and Pitt. Scary thing is OSU, Case, Vandy, and Pitt are my 4 top choices :scared:

if you teach the course, ive already written the textbook

Yeah, the re-application thing scares me the most.

its not that big of a deal... besides if you have interviews this early, you'll get in somewhere

i'm glad you appreciate this as much as my parents, who constantly make fun of me when i do dumb things like this

I'm willing to bet that your parents appreciate this much more than I. 😛

Okay, so here is my take on last night's game, hopefully someone will agree.

LSU's defense played incredible, minus all the offside penalties.

LSU's play calling was among the worst I'd ever seen. Pathetic - that is why we lost the game. Plays didn't even give us a chance to score. O-Line held up really well except for the 3 sacks.

Florida is the better team, but they are not invincible or even really that great. I think Alabama is better. And the talking heads that keep saying Florida's defense won the game for them are wrong - it was LSU's offense that lost it.

Now my voice is completely gone and abs are sore from screaming so damn much. 🙁

So I was perusing the "What are my chances?" forum, and I came across the thread of someone with an 8M. How is that even possible?

ouch that hurts dw 🙁. Some of us have $200k in debt because the Ivy decided they were going to charge 10% tuition the year AFTER we graduated :smack:

PS--why aren't people posting interview feedbacks this year?!?! I'm starting to panic...

Just show up and just sign in?

Do you remember how the SAT gave points for getting your name correct on the form? I remembered hearing about someone in my hometown who had that score for just getting your name correct.

i went NYU on a pretty nice scholarship

but that didnt cover the living cost (upper 20k for the 3 years)

i dont regret much but i visited a lot of friends at undergrads... paying for college was just dumb

you cant predict the economy tho, my friends that graduated from Ivys this year pretty hard time getting jobs. The idea of elite schooling is just weird to me.

Low blow.

Totally agree. Seriously, 4th and 1? And we call a pass play? :wtf:

I really was amazed that our defense held them to 13 points. Geaux defense.

Also, apparently UF band (who I was in front of the entire halftime show) chanted "Tigerband sucks" as we marched on the field. That's just wrong. I'd maybe expect it from their fans. But their band needs to be a bit more classy than that.

good morning everyone. big fight with my SO yesterday and now I am at my moms with a car full of my stuff.

i think its better this way and i keep trying to tell myself this and fight the urge to try to 'work things out' again. anyone who can chime in with the 'its better to start med school single' thing feel free. or PM me if you don't want to post it.
