You know, technically, they're not supposed to start accepting people until AFTER 10/15. So some schools, like OSU, wait until the 16th to start handing out decisions.

I'm filling out all my feedbacks, you should direct the questions at ppl like ksmi![]()
I've filled out all of mine already.
It is of the UTMOST importance for you to find someone who'll support your career goals. I remember volunteering at a hospital's Interventional Radiology department, and EVERY single doctor there 30 y/o and up was divorced. So I thought dang, it must be tough to have a family as a doctor. But then I shadowed this OBGYN, and he had a GREAT family. The key thing was that his wife was extremely supportive of him. She worked at his office as the manager, she educated their kids on why their father has to go to work when he gets paged during family dinner, and she takes him away on trips to relax. You need to find a guy who'll do that for you, if you want a serious relationship, that is.
ok, brooklyn then, and elmo, and... yea, you know who you are.
Hey, a question for all of you who interviewed at Wake. Do they have a student host program? I can't seem to find it.

I emailed the interview lady and asked if they had a program, and she found me a host.

This is what scares me. My bf is currently planning to enter medicine as well... and though I'm sure it's possible, I'm terribly afraid that there's no way well be able to have a family and both be docs as well. 🙁
sometimes people on SDN really piss me off. especially whenever the subject of financial aid and/or debt comes up. 🙄
Oh yeah, I should fill those out. Sometime in the future.

Yeah... I mean, you don't want to go into this career blind, but you're not going to be poor as a doctor, either.
Maybe around half past never?
yea, especially those who brag about free-ride to ivies![]()
Well, if you're both doctors, then you'll have the understanding part down pat. It IS still a concern, though, because you'll be really constrained time-wise. Marriage between MDs happen pretty often, so maybe you should ask for advice from those who've made it work.
good morning everyone. big fight with my SO yesterday and now I am at my moms with a car full of my stuff.
i think its better this way and i keep trying to tell myself this and fight the urge to try to 'work things out' again. anyone who can chime in with the 'its better to start med school single' thing feel free. or PM me if you don't want to post it.
ksmi u started it
Thanks!
my parents were both docs. they actually had me during med school. we were poor for most of the time and since they decided to have another kid 9 years later they are still repaying loans (med school to car loans to mortgage).
i definitely didnt see my parents at all regularly but they did stay for my brother.
it works out for the most part. im also ridiculously independent
i actually had a lot more respect for them when they didnt come home often. it made me respect medicine a lot more.
i dont plan on having a family at all though

Do I get out of the bet now? 😀
Why? o.o
Haha, I'll leave it to the acceptances you rack up in the upcoming days to alleviate the pain.
Why? o.o
True...
Did you feel that you were missing out though? With your parents being so busy?
we actually talked about pre-existing relationships at Duke
they said that approximately ~1 incoming relationship survive. pretty scary stuff.
If I don't get any acceptances, I'm blaming you.

that 1 relationship must be quite something.

check out the "if you got in everywhere" thread. or better yet... don't check it out. it's a waste of time![]()
Yeah really. That's pretty intense.
Sickness getting worse, don't have thermometer... Dying...
Well, not really.
having kids is about timing though
haha. point taken. but still... i'll be considering many things before i consider the $$ when choosing which med school to attend. you might not be doing the same, but we should still be able to respect each other.
