Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
yeah, that whole time change is messing with me.
also, i'm living with an h1n1-er. sweet. i better not get sick - interview on friday!

my next door neighbor has it and i was in their house on thurs, i hope i don't get it yuck.

what's up everyone? i'm excited for all the great sports on today🙂

giants/eagles, vikings/packers, then yanks/phillies yay! that guy with the whistle better not be at the yankee game tonight, he was driving me nuts!!! did anyone else want to kill him last night??

My post is def. not correctly timestamped. It's not 11:25. Oh well. I figure it will fix itself.

Then you must have designated EST/EDT as your SDN time stamp default...IIRC, we can designate the time zone we want in the setup...otherwise I believe the default is set to PST/PDT

Look under edit options...you have 2 choices: the time zone stamp, and recognizing daylight savings time changes...yours is probably set wrong.

so, if i ran the world of med school admissions, here's what i'd do: schools can be rolling (accept people as they go) or not rolling (accept people only in march or whenever) but they MUST reject people once they've decided to do so. so there would be no "ah, i haven't heard, is that good or bad" stuff. if you hear, it's either a rejection or an interview invite. if you don't hear, you know they are still considering you for an interview.

i just can't shake the feeling that the non-rolling schools i'm waiting on have already put me in the reject pile but won't tell me 'til march. and that's annoying.

if i ran the world of med school admissions, i would make everything freee (and only accept women)

nooooo my whole LIFE has been women-only... i was a figure skater, i went to a women's college, i did a social justice fellowship (in the whole country, 52 women, 7 men), and i work at a non-profit (staff is like 80% female). I CAN'T WAIT FOR MED SCHOOL

although i think i've forgotten what a normal gender ratio is like at this point

I feel the same way - it is only natural.

I am starting to scale my expectations for more interviews way back. And of the 7 I haven't heard from, I would only bother with maybe 3 of them.

So...I think my cycle, as far as interviews, is basically over. And with each passing day I am enjoying the freedom that my acceptance affords me.

I would LOVE to not spend one more nickel on this process...haven't added it up, but I have spent something in the area of $6k+ on primary, secondary, and travel costs...

lol, my bad. it was a guess. amongst nyc schools, i guess it could be vassar too, but they started accepting men (but very few) and also NYU (if you count gay men).

interestingly, anne hathaway went to both vassar and nyu. maybe you are anne hathaway. wow that would be amazing, sometimes shes kinda annoying but she's a cute one

yeah, fortunately for me this process has been really cheap. i spent $155 on the primary and $0 on secondaries (thanks, FAP!). i had to buy my suit ($169 for a $400 suit! thanks, lord & taylor!). i've had to pay for a couple of train/bus tickets to/from boston, but that's nbd and i would have been doing it at least once anyway to visit my parents which i do every couple of months if i can. most of my interviews have been in NYC and that's free since i already have a monthly unlimited metrocard 😀

so i want my last 4 interviews! though i'd be happy with just 2.

all of boston collectively shake their heads at you. including your parents.

Bamtuba, about Florida or Alabama losing - it will be quite simple. They will both lose to LSU.

I just really hope Iowa loses. So in this case, it will be a CWS rematch of Texas-LSU in Pasadena.

Wow, you guys been to Denver airport? This place is amazing, it's basically a department store on roids.

I've been to no airports but Charlotte was nice. Dallas is meh, but is extremely large so it has lots o stuff.

yea i heard charlotte is nice and that dallas is pretty good

any of you prefer really small airports? some of them you can come in 20 min before and have a really pleasant flight with 3 seats to yourself

reagan national in dc is pretty cool
the one in natti is sick
atlanta is cool but delta ****ing sucks
philly sux
newark is wayyyyyyy too busy
both nyc ones are ******ed
san fran isnt bad
havent been to lax in 10 years

i finally celebrated my acceptance this weekend and had a great time, i celebrated with people i didn't know but that was still pretty cool

if you guys haven't celebrated your acceptance(s) yet you gotta do it. there's no reason you should stress yourself on "choices" of school or whatever. celebrating your acceptance really takes a hugeeeee load off your back and makes you realize how we could be in a less fortunate position
