you could get a rejection too :meanie:

Well that wasn't very nice. You're right. It's possible and probably more likely, but still, I said I was being hopeful.

heh i was just kidding around, nothing wrong with being hopeful. good luck :luck:

btw, when's ur first interview?

OSU is the nicest school ever. After I got accepted, the following occured:

-A sweet flash video of fireworks and triumphant music played on the status check site
-I got a call from Dean Capers
-Both my interviewers emailed me and told me congrats

They are so classy

yea, it was ridiculously student friendly. there are a few places like that but its impressive nonetheless.

seriously though....what are the odds!
I will see if the streak continues next week 😀

Random question:
So most people I've met at interviews are pretty interesting and some seriously inspire awe. Today, there was this one interviewee that just looked like they rolled off the street. Really un-kept. While all of us were talking this person never once expressed any interest in anything medicine related either....the entire time I was thinking "what is this person doing here?!"
Anyone have the same experience?

oddballs at interviews? I suppose, though nothing quite like that. I saw a guy who wore a bowtie, a girl who didn't wear anything over her shirt, and a girl who never spoke a single word until the director of admissions showed up, then she became the liveliest person in the room, and never spoke again after he left.

pathologists have the possibility of being involved in teaching though

as far as dressing up for interviews, its really hard to go wrong unless you lost your luggage or forgot something. im not a fan of people overdressing though

This person drove 1 hour. I will not have MERCY!!! lol
I guess it may be just a matter of how people carry themselves, I would never show up to a professional setting looking like this person. The entire looked projected an aura of "why am I here and what is going on" type confusion

maybe he just had no clue how to dress for a professional thing.

i think dress code is stupid for any occasion except bikini contests anyway

At my Baylor interview, one guy wore a 3-piece suit.

yea def. how long do you think it would take to drive from Ft Lauderdale to Miami

ft lauderdale? not long at all. maybe ~20 minutes if not in rush hour, 30-40 during rush hour. What're you doing in ft. lauderdale anyway?

I tried to talk to these two quiet interviewees once, and it just failed. Trying to have a conversation was harder than I thought possible from potenial doctors. Wouldn't make eye contact at ALL and answered in all questions (hi, what's your name; where are you from, easy stuff) with barely audible, one word replies. Then I gave up.

is it me or are some threads on pre-allo just on another level of competitive nerd ****

yea thats cuz you are interviewing with the extra special group too. but most people i met were really cool after you give them sometime

hey dingyi, was there a time deadline for you to deposit $ for FIU?

Actually, 90+% of the mstp candidates I've meet gave been fairly sociable early on. The two SUPER quiet or scared or introverted ones were md only

Musta been nervous.

bb:

you did really want to know the driving time b/w ft. lauderdale and miami, while knowing that the other miami campus is in boca raton, right?

meeting applicants are the best part. sometimes its scary that we are gonna be in such a homogeneous group for the rest of our lives but yea

yea. boca is close to FLL right?

heres the thing

i have 2 options

stay in miami 4 nights w/ airfare for around 350 + 100 dollars for car rental maybe

stay in FLL w/ 2 nights (im gonna get in at like midnight and will have to drive to MIA at like 6 AM which is no probs) for like... 270 + 50 car rental

i could make a relaxing vacation out of the first one but egh!

well, first one sounds better, but you sure it's only 100 bucks for car rental? weekday rentals generally go for close to 100 per day.

ft. lauderdale is about the same distance to boca as it is to miami. it's actually a little farther from boca, but the traffic is lighter.

yea i might just do the 2 night thing. its not a really big deal i guess. sleep is overrated

so my headphones broke for the 3rd time in around 5 weeks (im on around my 35th pair now). but i bought extended warranty this last time so **** you headphone grim reaper 🙂

nada yo how was wright state

Really enjoyed it.... students were very friendly and chill. New med school building... lots of service opportunities. Didn't know this but apparently this is where PBL started.

Only negatives I can think of is lack of city life, but Dayton is nearby. Also no hospital on campus.

Overall though, absolutely loved it!! Interview seemed to go very well... got good vibes from both the PhD and student interviewers, so we'll see!

good luck man! i just interviewed at a school that heavily employs pbl as well, seems to work really well.

That's desperate man, headphone warranties? lol

You must have some really bad luck

I need a job for winter break and maybe spring. I need some suggestions for money-making. I just don't understand the *******es that walk around school with scrubs when I can never find or get a medical-y job.

Suggestions are appreciated. 😀
