Between my Apple Mail and my iPhone, both forwarding email within 1min, notifying me instantly, and me having a relatively uneventful life at the moment = ridiculously low response time with excessive replies. lol

Finally got the teeny tiny screws out.

Which then promptly fell on the floor and got lost.

And I still can't pry the cover off.

FML.

Oh man, that sucks. I don't think I would have taken it apart. I recommend just turning it off and putting it in rice. I do like to take apple products apart though.

My darn exam is on Tues.

uhm yea I do...cause I am a dodo who skipped the gen chem sequence

Do you have a big magnet?? Grab it an run it slowly across the entire floor of the room you were in and underneath things if there is space underneath them.

Yeah we needed inorganic too cuz our school crammed gen chem into one semester. Worst chem class ever. 👎

at least I finally am pretty good at the point group desig. and have established that character tables just exist for the sole purpose of existing.

I have Google Voice, but changing my number (like telling everyone about it) seems so inconvenient. Maybe when I move away and such I'll tell new friends my Google Voice number.

What's Google Wave anyway?
 
Speaking of Friday the 13th, found out my grandmother can't have lunch with me Saturday (haven't seen her in a long time) because she went to the doctor the other day and while cleaning her ear, popped her ear drum. She had hearing problems and prior surgery on her ear as it was... now it totally sucks. 🙁

I was thinking that too, but I can't think of any magnet i've ever used that would work. Maybe put a bunch of magnets on a metal sheet and try to get the screws to stick to that.

And they made it a pre-req for biochem. Which is ridiculous, because, surprise!, I never needed MO theory or symmetry or any of that crap for biochem. But our inorganic prof was a big-shot, so he whined until they made it a pre-req so he could have a big class rather than like a 10 person upper division class 😡

GV is amazing. Free txt, one number for work/home (parent's house really)/mobile, transcribed voicemail. I still have some friends who call my old number. I just stopped answering. They usually remember after one try.

I don't really get google wave yet. I just waved my friend who apparently also has it. We'll see if she replies.
 
i wish i paid for my trips with credit cards instead of debits, i would have ****load of rewards by now

No idea. Something with washing it out or removing ear wax or something that he saw. And he just kept going. "Oops. I'm really really sorry. You should probably see your ear specialist."

Now she needs surgery because of her history/complications and guess who didn't offer to cover part of it 🙄 Gah.

That's what I thought. I guess he thinks his stuff is so important that everyone should have to do it 🙄 He had TA's and post-docs to take care of the grading anyways (and going to a small school, it was still only like 60-70 students).

well the eardrum will heal on its own unless the hole is really large.
I shadow an otolaryngologist and seen many a ruptured tymp membrane lol:laugh:
but that guy should've known not to poke around in there if he can't do it without causing damage

I have found that Discover is freakin' money. I don't even have one but I plan on it soon. My gf has one and their INTRO card has ridiculous rewards. Awesome cashback bonuses. Minimum 1% on everything (normal) with 5% on categories of the month that aren't bogus. Gas, convenience stores, grocery stores, department stores. Discover needs to do this because they screwed up like a decade ago and defaulted on their payments so a lot of places got rid of them but they've been coming back for awhile now and use these awesome rewards to get customers back. So for cashback, Discover is definitely the way to go.

If you're looking for mileage, that British Airways deal sounds really nice if you CAN spend $2000 in 3 months and make sure you check how the miles are converted into airline tickets and for the presence of blackout dates. Some rewards have insane blackout dates. So poke around and look at that stuff for airline rewards.

Last kind of rewards are the random/intangible rewards. American Express is the way to go. They have a bunch of safety features built in, automatic extended warranties on anything you buy with AMEX cards. Also, if it matters to you, getting your foot in the door early with AMEX and establishing a long-standing relationship with them will get you a sweet card when you become a doctor eventually. They treat their long-term members very nicely.

My 2 cents. lol

If you're looking for immediate rewards, go with Discover. I carry an AMEX + Visa and have held them both for about 3 years so I won't cancel, but in retrospect I wish I went with Discover instead of AMEX because the rewards for the free AMEX cards are terrible unless you spend a ton.

Good strategy though, with AMEX/Discover + Visa, you'll be covered everywhere except for Sam's Club. You're good at Costco if you have AMEX.
