Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I already had chicken pox as a kid. The little red spots are on my chest, my legs, and my tummy. 🙁

wow i could never be a teacher. doing math hw with a 6-year-old (esp on with autism and adhd) is sooo frusturating and i swear i'm usually a really patient person.

friend of mine got red bumps from a hot tub. make me rethink those for the future.... ew.

Google 'measles' and look at pics - ask your mom if you got all your vaccinations - lots of parents did the dumdum and didn't get the MMR vaccine for their kids (fear of autism)...

You also could have shingles, caused by the chicken pox virus - but shingles are pretty painful...you would probably notice that by now...

maybe. I think I going to get this checked out now.

Call the doc first and explain the red bumps to the nurse - most docs don't want to see patients with infectious crap like measles and chicken pox...

ferreal? they're all vaccinated, what's the big deal.

Ok so semi-long story that I just needed to be talked off the ledge about:

ugh, so I've been trying to get off the interview-hold list at Pritzker, which happens in December. I remember that one of my letter writers is an alumnus of Pritzker and wrote me an awesome letter. So I approached him wondering if he'd be comfortable and willing to write me another letter specifically to Pritzker talking about how I'd be a great fit for their program, etc. Amazingly, he was more than willing and started working on it a week ago. Here's the problem, he just sent me an emailing that he had just mailed the letter and "said I'd love to have you in our own entering class next fall [he teaches at our state school], but that I hoped you'd go to UC."

😕 I hope he worded it different in his letter or sold me in some other ways... because the way he wrote the email, it makes it sound like he's trying to convince me to go to UC. Should I just go with it and assume that he wrote about being a good fit or should I email him back voicing concerns, or just stop worrying and remain thankful (which I very much am!)?

Not that it needs mentioning, but I'd prefer this to remain on this thread and not wind up mentioned on the UChicago/UIC school specific threads because I'd rather not have others know of the situation...

Lots of people walking around who never got vaccinated, and that is the problem with stuff like measles that pretty much got wiped out until people (parents) developed an irrational fear of vaccines in the last 20 years...

Doctors typically don't want people with any infectious diseases coming in the office - flu, measles, chicken pox. First, there isn't anything they can do for you, and they don't want to expose other patients...

bbender- my guess is that if the letter writer likes you (sounds like they do), then they were probably just saying something along the lines of "i'd be absolutely thrilled to have bbender at my current school because they're great for reasons X, Y, and Z. However, they are very interested in UC and asked me to write this letter, blah blah. please realize that bbender is awesome and give the necessary interview."

..or something. i wouldn't be worried about it if i were you

No no no...don't write him back except to thank him.

i agree, it seems like he likes you so he wouldn't try to sabatoge your chances. i bet that he wrote you a great letter, i wouldnt worry about it.

I agree BBender - I doubt he worded it like that in the letter, and I wouldn't raise any concerns.

I'm sure he just got the point across that you're awesome and everyone should want you 🙂

Thanks Sammich, you da bomb.

Official Vandy kiss-o-death waitlist today. 🙁 Totally expected, though.

My outlook on schools now is amazing compared to where it was in September. My once large pile of OOS chances is down to just 2 - I'm going to be stuck here forever.

you still have a good chance at vcu-400 acceptances given out of 800 interview spots. you could also get in off the vandy waitlist even if the chance is slim. i would be willing to bet you'll get in somewhere oos. keep your chin up!

bump... because how the hell could it move that far down the page???

Well, I think I may go workout. It's a little earlier than I usually go...

I have to write a big paper tonight too (or at least get a good outline going). Anyone ever heard of the court case City of Mobile v. Bolden?

Finally got the official Jefferson Interview Invite. 😀

Congrast1

don't give up man, it ain't over 'till it's over, just keep trying. it might work out, it might not, but you'll only have regret if you don't really try hard for what you really want.

Oh, and ksmi, you didn't like the makeover I gave you?

:hello:

I'm proctoring and bored. Just caught up on How I Met your Mother and Big Bang Theory...What to do now...
