So I've officially decided to go to FSU. They sold me with the fact that they'll give me a tablet.

Now to figure out the details of moving from Boston to Tallahassee in 3.5 months... *sigh*

i found out today that the last guy in my lab got into the mstp program there without a mcat. thats pretty sick

i live 75 blocks from columbia, and just across the park from sinai. mileage wise, they're close together (as everything in manhattan is) but they are a world apart in terms of atmosphere of the neighborhood. honestly, i prefer sinai's neighborhood, but columbia seemed like such an amazing place that i'd probably choose that if i got in. tough call though.

I didn't learn about it til' after I sent out med school apps. It's too bad I didn't find it earlier since I might have actually known what was up:laugh:.
 
columbias hospital is pretty solid. i can see non-new yorkers not liking the neighborhood at all though


btw sinai has more diseases named after their doctors/faculty than any other institutions, pretty cool

lol, here 75 blocks would be like 50 miles.
So if you go to sinai would you stay in the same apartment you're in now?

75 blocks here is 3.75 miles! up/down blocks are fairly short.

and... hell nah. i could live in sinai housing super close to school and pay half of what i'm paying now. this is a totally commutable distance (i walked home from my interview) but the money and the fact that i can't stand my roommates make it a definite that i'll be moving in august 👍
 
You would really go to Columbia over MSSM? I don't know, Mounst Sinai just sounds so cool, the way it rolls off your tongue. The name has such class. I'm going to Mount Sinai for my residency.

how exciting!! that's awesome that you can sstart to plan and know for sure. i have a feeling i'll be unsure right up until the last minute, waiting on waitlists and such.
 
Well I'm still waiting on the Jefferson waitlist, but they don't decide until May... Since FSU starts in June, that's a gamble I'm not really willing to take

I can read/write music but I tend to never really do it ever. It was kind of a formality I had to go through when I took lessons back in the day but now I pretty much play everything by ear as it is way easier.

And for fresh mozz.... BelGioioso is so good.

Also... Does anyone speak French? I am doing an assignment now where we need to write money phrases within our sentences ... ex. 1,50€ = un euro cinquante.... but... how would I express 0,70 € since it is not a full euro + change? Thankssssss

i do waaaay better with music, but i still attempt to play by ear. i only played classical music growing up, though, so i feel naked without sheet music in front of me.

:laugh: I had the old school old lady piano teacher that would get pissed when I would just ignore the sheet music in front of me. Ah well. But no -- haven't heard of him but I'll check him out now though...

I also REALLY like Carly Comando (I believe she is a NYC native). Once this song hit the NBA playoff commercial it constantly haunted me and I needed to learn it.

zona, that would depend on who you ask at this point, i believe. i'm not 100% sure about today, but a few years ago when i last took a french class, lots of people still said 70 centimes (left over from the franc-terminology), or centimes d'euro. but i think the bigger cities and some countries in particular are being english-ized and say cents (with a french accent, of course)
 
he's pretty cool, check out his other videos. he's such a dork

i bought his album to support it. his videos are ridiculous but the sound didn't really translate well in the album. just shows you how hard it is to make 5-10 coherent, polished and entertaining songs i guess

Hmmm thanks for the help Ciello. Since it's written.. I'm just gonna keep it as '0,70 €' in the dialogue as all of the other prices besides one are over a euro.

i feel you guys, schools like vandy/duke/columbia that interview a high number and accept a low # are frustrating
