That sounds painful.

BTW, what is ice dancing? 😕

It's literally dancing around on ice but no jumps, which means no epic falls.

ksmi, do you know why I can't see animated avatars on my comp? Is it a setting or do you have to download a special flash player?

Not a clue. I'm pretty computer illiterate.

😵 I like the MOH one better

That's what I thought until I put them on. I still like my dress but I like the other one better on me.

Both dresses are nice. Is that the exact color you all are going to wear?

I'm still not convinced. :meanie:

Hey now.

Your avatar's pretty funny.

I like it, too

I'm still a girl.

My tortoise just sneezed. He always surprises me when he does that.

Prepared to break up with her fiancee. I wouldn't put up with that.

I couldn't stand being engaged indefinitely or for almost 3 years. For me, it's either do it or don't.

someone i know is trying to manipulate her bf into proposing. she's laying down the foundations for a very healthy marriage

I like how the mommy panda is like nomnomnomHOLY****WTFnomnomnom.

would it ever make sense tax-wise to get married? i am pretty sure there are some income situations where it is advantageous to file together

For tax brackets being married actually ****s you over. More advantages lie in benifits, but now it's becoming more popular to offer them to "domestic partners" as well.

I'd rather have a long engagement and be absolutely sure than rush into getting a wedding done and over with. Not saying that this is you all, but some people feel like they have to get married ASAP OR ELSE. "If you liked then you shoulda put a ring on it" mentality.

I think so. You get better benefits in general. Something like that.

I understand this.

But think about it this way - if you aren't sure about everything, then why did you get engaged in the first place, or why did the girl say yes?

People can be so dumb with this kind of thing. My friend proposed to a girl he had been dating for less than a year and they went to school in different states. How well does he really know her?

Me either. A year or a little less for me. Enough to plan the wedding, but still not too long.

my parents met in may and got married in november of the same year. that seems crazy to me, but right now they're in mexico to celebrate their 30th anniversary so i guess it worked haha🙂

i don't think i'd want too long of an engagement, a year seems like a good amount of time. my friends keep telling me i'm gonna be the type to meet someone, spontaneously get married soon after, then call and tell them but i hope thats not how it happens haha

Another thing I forgot to mention is that it definitely depends on age. When you're older, both people should know more about what they want and stuff.

Younger people just sometimes get engaged without really knowing all about the person, one reason for many divorces and early divorces.

Russia beats Czech Republic 4-2. Good warm up for tonight.

We could take over first place in the whole Olympics if we beat Canada. Another good game tonight will be Sweden-Finland.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but some people use engagement as a trial period, like they move in together and kind of act like a married couple without actually being married. Certain qualities come out that you were not aware of before and this takes time.

And sometimes it's a spur-of-the-moment yes. I guess in general, I'm thinking more of the girls, mostly, that say "I need to get married by the time I'm 25. OR ELSE." It's like when women feel like they should be having babies because all of their friends have kids.

My parents met in March, engaged in December, married in September. So they'd been together a little less than a year and a half, and they are still happy together. I think I'd just want a little more time.

Maybe I'm just old school on the first point by thinking if engaged people move in without a wedding date, there's a very small likelihood they'll ever actually get married. There's no need right?

As for the second point, I find that kind of stuff hilarious. Reminds me of Elliott on Scrubs, booking the same wedding place every year for the last 13 years or something and already having a dress picked out.

I'm really unsure about the moving in together thing. For one, my parents would throw a hissy fit if I lived with a guy without being married, but I can see the good from it. Oh well, not necessary to think about now.

Just be sure of what you're doing and minimize your regrets.
