No, he's not. He's just always disliked being around me but my parents feel like they have to give him the attention when we're together because I already have the smarts and will be successful or whatever. Idk, whatever goes on in everyone's head that makes it OK to treat me like this is total bull****. It's just not fair. And now I'm gonna go to bed or something. I don't like bringing the mood of the thread down. Sorry everyone.

Haha, too late for that! Now the best thing you can do is try to cheer up to bring our moods back up 😀 Do you communicate much with your parents? You can try talking to them about it. Can't help you much there tho, since communication between my parents and me is just terrible. The last time I revealed some of my thoughts to them(and no, not the sketchy ones 😉) they were damn shocked....

I have, but it just makes mom cry because she feels like a failure of a mother or something, and dad just doesn't say anything.

LOL wow, that's really lame of them, especially on your BD. Btw, I wanted to mention that it's completely awesome that you're on your way to med school before you can even legally drink. If I hadn't taken a break from school, I would've only been a few months older. I have a lot of respect for your dedication and genuinely wish I had - the break became an on-and-off 10 years lol
Tho I'm far happier than I was at 20! (Something to look forward to hahaha)

Eh...kinda like my family I suppose. My mom would say that she might have brought me up wrong, and my dad would say something like it's too trivial to be discussed 🙁 My friends always help cheer me up though, so hopefully you'll have a similar experience tomorrow :luck:

but I do have to admit, it would be sorta hard having you as a sibling....you're such a superstar, even if you really feel like one right now.
 
This probably helps nothing, but my husband for so long thought my parents' cared far more for my brother than for me. He didn't see that they gave him more attention because I received more attention (academically, intellectually, artistically, etc) growing up and that attempt for them to compensate hasn't worn off. When they dote on their med school daughter, they're concerned that my one-year-of-college brother (he's 27) feels slighted. Dynamics change but parental figures aren't always attuned.

I like the band, they have some good songs. Sway is another good one, hopefully not applicable to the aforementioned girl's situation tho. When I wanna relax and listen to some chill songs they're always on top of the list.

I hope so. Last year a very similar thing happened, except the gf wasn't there, and it was actually on my birthday. Since the gf wasn't there, I was a bit more obvious about feeling left out at dinner and that ended in me and mom crying during the night. Dad just always ignores it all, and the brother didn't care. I went out after and got smashed in hopes of forgetting it all, made out with random guys, and caught mono...

Currently downloading those songs! I've also had trouble finding a song that rockaction posted a while ago, "World Sick" by Broken Social Scene. Can't find it on Limewire. :laugh:

Sometimes parents don't know what to do with the situation so they either overreact or isolate themselves from it and avoid it. It never seems to be anything in between.

Yup, I'm still in the area, not sure if I'll still be there in May though. I'm gonna visit China this summer, so if I decide to go to Case(they start in July), I'd have to leave for China in May and move to Cleveland in June. What are you gonna be here for?


As it turned out, 100% were deleted, but at least the bulk of it were TV shows that I probably won't rewatch anytime soon anyway.

All four parks. Maybe the beach on one day. The nearest one is 1 or 2 hours away, right?

Yup, not as close as many may think. How many days are you gonna stay? One park can take up a whole day if you try to play around thoroughly. The beaches near Tampa are pretty good, like Clearwater beach.
