Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

giiiirl...I am not even going to like I am jeli like WHOA!
I would say that HST is prob the best option because it does not preclude you from being an amazing clinician, if you so choose after your 4 years but it does give you a leg up on the research aspect that people like me can only dream of.
Besides...you seem to really like Harvard as your current home and you have established your support system there. I would think it may be easier to go into something as demanding as med school with things like that settled. (Big part of why I want to get into Emory still).

Sometimes it's a good idea to branch out a lil bit though. However, I don't think it's a problem for jla, since I think going to Harvard is already branching out for her.

yeah i'm sorry i'm being turdy by bringing up stuff like this 🙁 i realize my situation is an enviable one, but it's still a big decision for me and i'm pathologically indecisive when it comes to my life . it's helpful to talk it out so i thank you all for putting up with it

That is true for most places, if you are going into academia esp. However, I think it would be foolish to give up HSM on that reasoning alone. Of course jla has jhu in her bag as well but to me at least it seems that HSM is what she is really excited about.
I am probably not helping at all, jla, sowwwwys!

If it helps, I've noticed it's pretty easy for us to tell where someone really wants to end up - and we can tell you want to end up at the HST. It's understandable that you're nervous about deciding, because you have so many great choices and don't want to regret anything later on.

You seem to be making the right call, and the call you will be happy with.

👍

Me too!!! :highfive:

you have a lover in boston too, don't you?

ha, lover, sounds sultry

oh of course, and it'd be foolish of you to give up on emory for that reasoning alone as well. all things being equal, I'd pick some place that's some ways away, but preferably still close enough to your roots so you don't completely lose contact.

It's hard to make the wrong call when none of the choices is bad! I sure envy the position jla and ksmi are in 😀

Oh, I wasn't giving up! I love Emory and wanted to go to med school there since junior year of HS...Duke is a recent development, and was obviously a pipe-dream.
Fingers crossed that I will get off that 300+ person WL at Emory. Right.

 it's okay, you get one free bad insult because it was your birthday 12 minutes ago

I have no idea what your are talking about lol.

After the initial disappointment, I have felt as any pre-med who managed to get accepted feels-effing ecstatic.

😀

sigh i need to be up in 6.5 hours. better head out...

i need to be up in 5!

i sleep like 30 hours out of the 48 on weekends though, so its all good

I just ate pasta and oatmeal and I'm still hungry. Feeding myself fail.

It's so annoying when people have Fb albums and they have 20 pics of same thing, just from different angles. The ocean is blue, I get it.

I just used the scanner on my printer for the first time. Cool, this could potentially be useful.

So, I'm thinking of buying a netbook in case my computer dies soon. It could happen anytime in the near future. The only problem is paying for it.

Oops I thought I asked where you were headed next year too.. have you decided yet, or you hoping for Vandy still??

I'm still not sure, but probably going to LSU because it's cheap. I'm going to visit VCU again next week, so we'll see.

I'm also waiting on Baylor, which would be a dream come true.
