Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know this is old news, but I was working so I didnt catch up on the bball action till this morning (well the footage anyway). oiiiiiiii, soooo close.

and my flamefish died this morning. well, my brother euthanized it with a spoon because it was dying. 🙁 he was one of the three OGs.

You mean that URM thread that's a couple of pages long? That one has been around for a couple of weeks, I think.

Oh I just checked the date of the OP and it is kinda an old thread. Didn't notice it before.

I hope nobody takes my post the wrong way too. I have many black friends.

I'm black and I used to be against affirmative action.... Then I went on my medical school interviews...

Anyway, on a lighter note. Has everyone decided where they are going are do we still have some people who are accepted but wait-listed at other schools? I'm thinking about pulling the plug at the two schools I'm wait listed at and just going to the med school that liked me.

Stupid pick of the draft: picking Miguel Olivo (second string catcher on CO) over Ianetta (first string catcher on CO), made the switch last night. Now I actually have a catcher that starts.

Thought Olivo was still on KC, oops.

lol... im wondering the same thing my friend

nope, I can't make it. But if you're feeling nice, I'd love a recap of how awesome/unawesome it is

Sure thing. Anything specific you want to know that you'd like me to ask??

Same, dude. I just can't deal with sitting around hoping Penn will pull me off the waitlist. I liked it there a lot, but I liked other places a lot too. Just not worth it, IMO.

I was kind of annoyed that Napoli didn't play last night. Hopefully that doesn't happen too often.

Not sure if this was a stupid move but I was really on the fence and pulled the trigger. Got rid of Harden because he's had a terrible spring, provides a lot of Ks (but I geared the rest of my rotation for Ks), and is injury prone. Replaced him with Blackburn who has always been middle of the road, workingman pitcher for MN (MN's Danks).

Problem was that Harden starts tomorrow and Blackburn starts today, so I lost a start. Ah well. We'll see what Harden does tomorrow and if he implodes, it was a good move, lol

...and Napoli not playing would definitely annoy me.

Okay, so I'm setting my roster, but I'm a little confused how I know which guys are starting now and which aren't and why I should move them. Anyone care to explain?

(for batters) The first criteria I use is bench them if they aren't playing. You can tell this because it'll have their opponent/game time in the column to the right of their name. Knowing which ones actually start the game is more difficult. For starting pitchers, look for the "^" next to the opponent. For batters, click the "Research" tab, and check the depth chart. Higher probability that they will start if they are #1 for their position. This is weirder for catchers who swap in and out relatively often (see Napoli, lol). Then you can look at a bunch of other stats if you're determining who to start over the other if two players with the same position are playing that day.

1. Are they playing?
2. Stats/match up
3. What stats do you need? (hits, runs, RBIs, SBs...) and start the guys for those stats if possible, do this more near the end of the week.

Pitching: what I've found is you want to keep your good relievers active and swap out your starting pitchers based on if any of your SPs are making starts on a given day.

Then again, this is my first fantasy BBall league (or fantasy league at all) and it's pretty daunting to start with baseball, lol

So what happens if I don't have enough people that are actually playing tonight to make a full team. For instance, I don't have anyone that can play 1B, 2B, or 3B. What do I do?

nothing, it happens all the time, you just play with a partial roster. you can help alleviate that problem by signing/trading for a more balanced roster comprised of people from diff teams.

Oh okay! Good good.

Met where are you driving to?

Hope you have somebody to go with or a buncha mixes and a pair of stunna shades to keep u company

Aw yeah. Tony Parker cleared to play some tonight against the Kings.

Steady stream of good news for Spurs fans over the last few weeks 🙂

They need to win some games to avoid first round series against the Lakers.

Another URM thread on SDN. I don't want to get into it so I will post it here where noone will notice. Even though I think from the social standpoint affirmative action is a good policy it is a little annoying that my 36 and 3.99 would look so much better to the adcoms if I was of a different skin color.

yea, well, life isnt fair.

So... I'm a little confused about something. I was under the impression that on May 15th, those people with multiple acceptances had to choose one acceptance to hold on to. However, I've been reading through some of last year's threads and have found out that several people held onto multiple acceptances after that date. Can someone explain this to me?

depends on the school, i think. after may 15 schools are allowed to withdraw your acceptance, but they dont always do it, especially if you have some circumstances that you can explain to them.

or if you don't have extenuating circumstances, have all your financial aid info, and feel like being a jerk lol

i dont want to think about last nights game, but did anyone actually dunk the ball last night?

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't feel like that's fair to be able to hold onto more acceptances than that after May 15th. I hope that it is rare that anybody actually does this.

i honestly don't think 99% of people do. may 15 is on a weekend though, so i dont think waitlists will move til the week after
