i'm thinking in another couple of weeks i should send another letter to columbia. i sent one march 25th, and in their letter acknowledging my letter they asked for updates every month-ish.

also, for anyone else who applied to columbia-- are you as amused as i am by the fact that the "dean's" signature looks different on every letter you get from them? (though if you were accepted i'm sure this doesn't apply; he probably signs those himself)

that iceland picture's really cool! i can't believe the ash is shutting down airports all the way in mainland europe.

back from the doctor-they pricked her finger and got the stuff out, now she just has to take antibiotics and it should be ok. the doctor was sooo nice. she was surprised how un-grossed out i was so i told her i'm going to med school in the fall and she started teaching me about all the different finger infections you can get haha. she also said that any school will get you where you want to go so don't worry about going to a suny or other low-mid tier school. good news for those of us not going to the hopkins and harvards of the med school world🙂 she kind of echoed what most people say about residency directors not caring too much about where you went-she went to suny upstate then got into residency at hopkins.

Thanks! Yeah, they are my first choice at this point. I really love Vanderbilt too though. But with everything factored in, Miami takes the cake.
 
officially rejected from jefferson, oh well. i probably shouldn't have applied there in the first place-i didn't realize til after i sent in the secondary that they average multiple mcat attempts instad of taking the best/most recent.

Yeah, it does. I'm hoping this all blows over, so to speak, before I'm supposed to be in Iceland in ~4.5 weeks. :scared:

i also got the axe (as in rejection, not the fragrance in form of a body spray that symbolizes the total opposite) from there too!

This is dumb and inevitably going to lead to some serious backlash when it gets called for the first time

edit: oh I guess I was confusing taunting (during the play) and excessive celebration after the TD (which doesn't take the TD away). I guess if the taunting is egregious, the player/team deserves it, but it seems like a harsh penalty for a potentially borderline "taunt"
 
a td needs to be as little of a judgment call as possible, imo. besides, taunting made da U, cuz we thugz 4 lyfe
 
I was expecting to end up playing hardball to keep my rent the same for next year. But apparently as long as I renew for 12 months they are going to lower it to $408.33/month (weird number because of a one month rebate thing) including all utilities except electricity. :laugh: Whoever the owner is is def not a Harvard MBA.

Oooo that sounds like so much fun! I am really excited that I might get to go to my favorite restaurant next weekend! There's this place in Athens called Farm 255 where everything they serve comes either from their own farm or from other local farmers. Their food is exquisite and reasonably priced. And they usually have local bands playing. Such an awesome place.

you can find lots of restaurants here that are committed to serving locally grown food--including the place i'm going tonight. and local bands? yeah, i'm pretty sure NYC has a few...
