Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
yea, the plastic bag in the wind scene was too much for me though
hahahaha I know, some of it's a little too heavy handed, but still a solid movie. Sam Menedes got a little too obsessed with "fractured suburbia" after American Beauty. With Revolutionary Road, I was like, "Ok Sam, I get it. Jeeeeez."

Word.

I love the elliptical, but I hate going to the school gym b/c there's no parking, the ellipticals are always taken, and I'm the only guy on them. But it helps my knee.

im thinking it would be a good investment to make while in med school, assuming i have a bigger room next year 🙂

cardio is just cardio though, as long as you keep your heart rate at X% of max, there should be no difference

also, i did the whole weights at home thing, but i just love going to the gym (9-11 PM ish)

I just wished I liked to run. I've tried to get into it so many times, but I just hate it.

Even if I had nice scenery, I still doubt I could like it.

me too i cant do more than 10 minutes on the treadmill and outside my head starts hurting then my ears start and then i feel like my entire body goes wrong and the temp of course is never right either 😛

Ditto. Especially if it's relatively vacant and you can superset without any guilt

ah, for the best. For a second I though I was going to fail neuro.

For the sake of your neuro grade, I won't tell you how to evade that small detail and get an unofficial copy of the beta without Blizzard's approval. 😉 Hey, it's not hurting anybody, and I'm certainly going to buy the game... meh. Let me know if/when you want to play the beta and I'll PM you the link. Best of luck with finals! :luck:

I know exactly the type of thinking

You only have so many sets of 4 years.

That's the bad thing about medicine, as far as medical school and residency are concerned. You're stuck for 4 or so years. You can't just switch schools or residency programs after 2 or 3 years. With regular jobs, you can just leave whenever sometimes. It might not be smart, but it's possible.

And if you have a fiancée and a guilt-complex, you feel like you're locking them in every 4 years as well 🙁

cardio has always been the easy way out for me! im pretty sure i wont be disciplined enough for weights at home either cuz when you're at the gym you feel like now that im here imma do this one too but at home it goes more like now that the food is ready maybe ill eat first then wait two hours and thennnn the laziness starts 😉

but i shall still give it my best..

Do it or I will hunt you down.

please do!

Ugh, I know... that's why I wanted to lock us in at either Michigan or somewhere in Chicago, so she'd have great options for grad school/post-docs in case we get "stuck" in one spot for awhile. There's a good chance we'll be in Ann Arbor for a loooong time, which is cool with both of us. 😎

Ahhhhh the 4 year talk is depressing, take it year by year! who knows if we're alive tomorrow 😉

My problem is that I don't want to give my gf the sense that just because I go to med school in New Orleans means I'll stay there afterward.

If I end up at LSU, I am leaving Louisiana for residency unless someting drastic happens in my 4 years there.

That's reverse of many people. Weights has always been easier for me. You see results immediately after (muscles look bigger even though they haven't actually grown yet), there's shorter intervals of intensity instead of torturing yourself for 20+ mins, etc.

Bulking up, I've always found to be more enjoyable. Plus you can eat like Elvis, kinda-- TONS of chicken and protein.

I think we're more open about going somewhere else for residency and then moving back if that's what occurs or if I wind up matching into great programs OOS (which again is a BIG 'what if'). If I match into a solid program in the state, that will probably take preference. Unless it turns out that I love neurosurgery and match into that... not :barf:

I feel the same way. I never liked cardio unless it was sports, which you need people to play with.

You can lift weights for shorter periods of time and not get bored by switching exercises.

Mmmhmm. The other-person-to-think-about deal can get complicated.

Simple solution! Love 'em and leave 'em!

Hey this just helps my theory 😛

Ok I'm not an ass like that, but I do agree you live for today and if you like someone, be honest w/ 'em and give it a shot. You aren't locking them down for 4 years unless they want to do it to themselves. Don't guilt complex yourself into not trying... because they can (and do) make up their own minds 😀

YESSSS. And in college, I learned how to play really solid tennis from the varsity players on our high school team and now they've all stopped playing and I still want to play with everyone! Totally sucks.

Hey hey I might be leaning towards neurosurgery! (Then again, I'm keeping an open mind and don't have a clue about how it actually feels to be in a neurosurgeon's shoes so...)

Just saying that because of their ginormous residency, lol

okay so you guys do more jumping around and ill go buy my weights, deal?

No kidding, especially with the possibility of flying through volcanic ash in t-minus 1 week becoming more and more likely... :scared:

🙁 no more sad stories!!

and fun too right?
I've enjoyed it. IMO SDN overstates the level of misery.

Sweet. thanks.
