Soooooo

We are at a restaraunt.

And Spurs and I are having a good time with his friend.

He tells the hostess he's excited for his stupid teams basketball game.

And she says, "I used to be a tomboy, too"

Then I laughed so hard I cried.

😆 i don't think any emoticon can do justice to the laughing i am doing right now

 what DW said - that's freakin hilarious!

Wait... is spurs a girl? 😕

so after much thinking, I've decided I'm ticked that I've met none of you IRL 😡 lol

Yea I'm glad to have met a couple of people from the Penn thread @ penn preview. If not, I'd be pretty ticked too 😡

Well I met a decent number of SDNers, none of them are c/o 2014 vets! Ah well...

So for the people talking / concerned about the oil spill in the gulf coast right now... I just wanted to put it into perspective:

It's bad.

I mean really bad. It slated to become the worst oil spill in history. Before this it was the Exxon Valdez or whatever spill near alaska in 1989. For reference - after that spill, only 25-30% of the marine life in the area survived.

In this "spill", BP (the company who had the rig) said between 1000-5000 barrels of oil were spilling out everyday. An actual independent assessment showed that it actually is 5000 (not 1000-5000). For reference, a barrel of oil is 42 (US) gallons. So 210,000 gallons or 795,000 liters of oil is spilling into the ocean every day (awesome!)

To give you another idea of how bad that is, converted through to energy, it equates to about 6 terajoules. Not mega, not giga, tera. That's how much energy is lost because of this. Assuming a house uses ~100 kWh energy per month, there is enough energy being lost per day in this oil spill to power 20,000 houses for a month.

Good times

[I TA a class in the Principles of Energy and Energy conservation, the official title is "from energy conservation to the conservation of energy". So this kinda stuff is interesting to me]

On a side note - BP must be losing a lot of money on this...

****ing better be.

I don't think I've met any SDN regulars. I did have someone figure out my identity and tell me I'm "famous" though.
ditto! friend of a friend, "WAIT. You know BBENDER?!"

...yeah, that's right. Then I start receiving compliments about "how I told that one guy off in the RF thread"

dingy, try transferring songs again on AIM? I was tipsy before but now I just have a headache. No studying tonight. Booo.

looks like rep points DO count IRL

...wait, nope, still don't. 😎

yea man, i've been trying to get him from you since the draft 🙁

ian stewart is actually not bad at all though

is it bad that I consistently root against Lebron because of big of a Jordan fan I am?

Seriously. He's a good dude. I really want to see him and Nash win a title before they retire.

dude, same here! the two west teams i've been rooting for are phoenix and dallas, both of which are pulling some epic choke jobs.

All this sports talk sounds like an alien language to me...

none of you guys met on the interview trail? all the sdners i've met have been really awesome!

Why would he, you're not 2013 :meanie:

i'm 2012!

no creepers, really, everyone has been awesome, some incredible!

On a side note, I set another post-injury personal record today on flat and decline bench 🙂

... I've met people who were total *****s and I always hope they aren't from SDN. Fortunately, the only 2 people I've met who are on SDN are totally awesome - so I guess I'm in drizzt's camp! Sorry ksmi - maybe drizzt and I just have anti-creeper shields?

Haha, that seems to be a second look theme.

Getting drunk? Yea sounds like it. The only one I went to was Penn's - and yea they got drunk. The people who were there told me about the ones elsewhere - stanford, JHU etc. Yea; they all got drunk there too 👍 I wonder how often that actually happens once you are in med school though...

what are people doing about their immunizations

er get them? sorry that came out a lot ruder online than it did in my head. I don't think we have much of a choice... just got to get them. I know for one of my UMDNJ schools I had to get proof of varicella (chicken pox) immunity since I didn't get the vaccine for it. Cost me $156 since it isn't covered by health insurance 👍 Does the school you are going to have some random requirements? In general it seems to be the usual requirements for undergrad colleges + maybe a bit on meningitis, TB, chicken pox and a few other things [like MMR stuff you should already have for your university].

on that note - bed time! I was supposed to be in bed 1/2 hr ago 😴 g'nite ya'll!
