Okay everyone, the waitlist/deferment thread got me thinking about something...

If you do get in off a waitlist but if you also gain an opportunity that would require you to defer and if the school doesn't allow those waitlist acceptances to defer (a lot of if's, I know), then what happens? Must you decline the acceptance? And then, if you do have to decline the acceptance but if you're in the position to re-apply later on, is it frowned upon that you declined an acceptance?

(if the school doesn't allow you to defer), i would definitely take the acceptance and run, i'm not sure how much people would frown on it, but it can't really help you all that much

If it comes to needing a deferment after you get off the waitlist - I say worry about it then. For now, try to get off that wait list. If you need to defer, ask them if you can (I don't know if most schools allow deferment after you get off the wait list though; since the point is to fill their open slots).

If you do have to turn them down and can't defer - make sure you send them a letter explaining your situation. When you re apply next year to the same school - bring up the point you made about why you had to turn it down off the waitlist. I'm sure they'll be understanding about it. If not; there wasn't much you could do about it anyway 🙂

ooh i see. it struck me as odd since you talked about your sweet research gig set up at washu. off the top of my head and trying to remember your list, one/both of the LSUs if you aren't really interested. you had 2 locations to pick from, right? you didn't sound stoked about those as much.

just withdrew from UAMS and USUHS. Hopefully my soon-to-be new school doesn't change their minds 😛

KSMI I say just do it like a band aid -- withdraw from em all in 1 fell swoop -- 8 gmail compose windows, and send bam bam bam 🙂
 
hey jla - did you watch glee this week? is it just me, or this show quickly becoming the coach sylvester show? if she has one more music montage, i'm going awol. i like the guest stars, but its taking away singing time from the kids.

I love sue - but ur right, the show's moving away from the kids 🙁 If it spun closer to will; that'd be ok too I guess...

But I still think they are doing a good balancing act of showing the kids' issues and everyone else's as well. Let's see how it rolls out - love gleee

i love glee too but i don't like the new directions the show is taking.

can't wait for the gaga episode tho. it will probably be the season finale w/ a guest appearance.
