Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
True.

Most SDNers come from the top percentiles of applicants, and then a large chunk from the bottom. I'm in the middle, though.

me too. even though we're a self-selecting group, i still think it's pretty awesome we're at a 100% acceptance rate🙂

sorry about the bad financial aid news zona. mine from penn state is all loans too-bye bye 65k/year!

awesome! i aim to please the llama worm, i fear its wrath 😉.

how come? is this roomie mortally against you playing it?

No, but it's his TV and he's always home. So I just never get to play it since I don't want to tell him he can't watch his TV. Plus they moved the furniture and it's very RockBand-unfriendly for drums (it also uses the kitchen table as a closet).

There are a lot of people who don't post that often anymore. Should we call them out?

I guess I just did. 😳

that makes sense, unless he is watching something stupid in the middle of the day, like judge judy.

that is an unfortunate use of space.

idk if you work at accenture or not, but my friend works there and absolutely HATES his job

I like the way you think, bblunder - I like the way you think.

I do NOT work for Accenture -- one of their competitors. Accenture doesn't pay well at all (as in, people spend 60%+ of their paycheck on rent) and most folks HATE it there. I have a lot of friends at Deloitte and Bain and they LOVE it. They work twice the number of hours that I do though.

I actually really like working for ********. Hours aren't too crazy, work is interesting. I am now a grand master at Excel and SAS which may help me out a smidge sometime in the future. Or maybe I'll just use my mad skillz to make cool-looking study calendars in med school. People are great. As JLA can attest, I oftentimes send out recruiting emails to folks at my undergrad. Some of them are sober recruiting emails...many are post happy-hour.

Speaking of happy hour, had one yesterday at a bar near my apt -- it was on the company, left around 10pm. At 3am I get a drunken text from a few coworkers asking if I was still out and wanted to meet up for pizza. Good group of peeps to hang out with 🙂

EDIT: I do not work 100 hours a week -- I work 45-50 hours a week. I don't get the big bucks like the folks in big 3 companies do, but I get a life. I like it that way. Right now, I manage a program for a company that helps to grow their business. It's heavy in financial analytics and customer relationship management. That's about all I can say about it though :ninja:

Hitachi Consulting...?

EDIT: Oh and Bain is SICK. I'd take Bain over McKinsey any day of the week. Bainies have more fun 😉

WashU dean emailed me back. We're talking on Monday. I'm scared. :scared:

good luck yo! You can do it! 🙂

About consulting:

I actually worked for a consulting firm for ~ 1 yr. Completely jumped ship, bec yea you work long hours... and you have to travel. And it's not the fun kind of "omg i get to see cool places" travel. It's traveling to Kansas city - whoo! It's more hours of your life wasted.

Don't get me wrong; you get paid well... but consultants sales people always over promise... and it's our job to deliver. My company always delivered = long hours 🙁 I was in IT/management consulting, so I'd look at management (time & resource) practices and suggest ways to improve it by integrating what they did into our software solution. Helped them estimate things better and cut costs etc.

Lots of shmoozing, code writing, bargaining and baby sitting 🙂

what's 6/17?

my summer job starts
