Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, I agree that their move to first class probably led them to victory, but just the attitude they had and the fact that they were willing to sacrifice their integrity/play a shady game because $1 million was on the line made me immediately not want them to win.

I also couldn't stand that one brother repeatedly saying "I didn't want to do this, really, but my brother really wanted to so I was like 'ok, cool, I guess I will'"

If they didn't cut in line, I would have thought about the first class move, "wow, clever move, hope they don't get disqualified." If one thing can be said about the cowboys, they wanted to walk away w/ integrity knowing they played a clean game. He didn't even want to walk into the brother.

peer pressure is a slippery slope maker.

You'll be fine. Theriot will be played no matter what, somewhere. Even better, they're talking about putting Theriot at 2B and you'll get 2B eligibility!

That would be nice. I would have two 2B/SS, unless I accepted your trade.

I'm almost positive I will take your trade, because I have too many Rockies on my team.

i also think there were really only two teams that i actually liked this season on the amazing race (the cowboys and steve/allie).

the rest either weren't around long enough or i just disliked with varying degrees

they were the father/daughter duo, right? i really liked them too. it was probably better they got eliminated when they did seeing as how they accidently ditched their backpacks.

I'll wind up with four rockies players, lol 2 batting and 2 pitching

hey dw, if you read this, question: i attempted to cook swisschard in a pasta dish. it ended up a little chewy. did i just not cook it long enough? i hate when greens are overly mushy, though, so i was attempting to find the happy medium of doneness.

(i ask you since you are the hereby appointed veggie guru)

yeah, i liked them because they seemed good-hearted and like they were enjoying their time on the race

also, i loved when they just walked into that wrong person's house and just started painting it

yeah, they weren't overly competitive and just enjoyed the fact that they got to travel the world and have this experience together. they gave off warm-fuzzy feelings that were emitted through the tv.

i was just going to say this!! the look at the home owner's face was priceless.

I'm usually quite opposed to trades. For some reason, I like sticking with my drafted players. Probably because I want to prove that I was right the first time around.

 yeah, i guess there's a reason why americans get the "crazy tourist" stereotype

i bet that guy went and told all his friends, "these random americans just came into my home and started painting it today! and they filmed it all!"

i liked them too. kind of a funny story-remember when they lost their backpacks? my friend from college was leaving seychelles after doing a research project last semester at the same time the amazing race teams were at the airport. she gave allie a bunch of clothes to wear and you can see allie wearing a virginia tech shirt later on when they show the teams on the plane🙂 my friend said allie was super nice and even friended her on facebook to thank her again for the clothes!

i actually liked the big brother team too-they weren't the brightest, but they were always so easy going and had a good sense of humor about themselves.

now if anyone has SBs or AVG for sale... lol

I'm not selling you my stolen bases!

I am pretty sure I could make money off of the 2015 applicants. Offer to sit w/ them as they do their application on amcas, hold their hand, answer questions, and charge at least 100/hour.

oh that's so neat. i always wondered how soon in advance they tape the show too.

This is what happened at an LSU game this weekend right before we ended up losing 2 straight games and the series. 😡

haha i totally forgot that happened-sooo funny!!

I had to big time trade and drop people initially because I way overdrafted for power and average.

I traded Wigginton for Hamels last night to Pedie's friend.

makes me also wonder about the film crew. they obviously aren't allowed to interfere with the decisions of the teams, whatsoever. i think this is why such random stuff happens. how do you keep a straight face at some of the stuff or not want to help the friendly teams? you know, give them a little clue when they are going in the wrong direction for 50 miles.

Dude; that's an awesome idea!! brilliant 😀

Oh, and I know you guys have gotten mega scholarships, but I just got a call from Loyola and they just assured me $5,000 and are working on getting me more if more people withdraw! :soexcited:

EDIT: Now the question is, do I wait until May 14th/15th to commit to see if they can do anything more (even though this is more than I expected since I know Loyola doesn't give out much usually)? Or do I just sign on the dotted line...?

Wait until May 14th, just in case.

..and I didn't get any kind of scholarship money. In fact, I haven't received any information about money period.

Commit to Loyola, you mean? Are you committed elsewhere at the moment? I guess I am wondering if you would be giving up one school in place of Loyola.

That sucks.

Money is a huge factor, it's really not fair how they hold out on the applicants like this. They should just tell them when they are accepted or shortly thereafter when they have their class starting to become organized. They should also do some type of scholarships for students who matriculate early like in February or March or something. Like when you lease a car, if you pay it all up front they usually give you a big discount because they know they are getting all that money from you. It's not exactly the same logic, but if you commit early you should be rewarded, it would help speed up the process.

I'm holding at Loyola and UIC. UIC has given all acceptees until the end of May 17th to respond.

Oh, I see. And its probably cheaper at UIC since its a state. Wait it out until the 17th to see if they let you know about any more money. You can also call them on Friday/Monday to see if any more money has been freed up.

I'll probably wait until Friday afternoon, then withdraw from UIC so that Loyola doesn't assume I don't want to come and cuts me loose, lol

...anyone know exactly how this works when two schools have different deadlines? 😕

oh two different dates. that complicates things. i would assume that we absolutely have to go by the aamc rules unless otherwise stated. if loyola is upholding the may 15th deadline, so must you, i guess.

then I think it's funny that UIC is like "we're doing you this huge favor by pushing the date back to Monday"

 seriously, when they are the only ones saying monday. at this point, its all about running out of time.
