i think i'll adopt a girl, buy a puppy and share some good local beer
then i can work on my combat skills and when my daughter goes to europe and gets taken, i could have a pretty sick time there kicking ass (on a cheaper euro)

pretty sick single life
 
ugh i feel horrible again🙁 just took my temp and it's 101.1. also have achy muscles, chills, and super sore throat-any current med student wanna diagnose me?😛

the funny thing is that i haven't had health insurance all year and haven't needed it, but now that i'll have it again on june 1st it's just 4 days too late!

edit: my first thought was strep, but considering i've never had it wouldn't it be weird to get it for the first time at age 22?

They lumped me in with all the douches on this site who just "party" and are worried about losing time to "party" when they're in med school. I also hate how they lump people like us, who are accepted and about to start school, in with the general premed population. That thread was good for a little while until people started coming in and talking about how we "premeds" don't know what we're getting into because they just know so much more about life and happiness and step 1 and 3rd year (when they haven't even done that stuff yet).

I duno if I'd label myself as a douche - but I definitely intend to keep up my partying 👍 [I don't party THAT much to begin with anyway, so it seems reasonable]

The euro exchange was awesome this past month... just kept getting better and better. 😎 Traveling around Europe just got waaay cheaper, at least in the near future.

Is anyone dealing with looking for an apartment in a city/state that's a fair distance away from your current city/state?

i'm about 6 hours away from DC, but i'm super lucky that my future roomie lives about 10 miles away. based on what she's told me though, you probably want to stick to something in the NW part if you live in the city (or rosslyn or arlington in VA). apparantly it gets sketchy the further east you go. feel free to ask me any questions about where the good neighborhoods to live are and i'll pass them along to her and tell you what she says.

Yeah. I've heard as much. It's not necessarily the areas I'm worried about, just getting a place in general. I don't want to commit to anything without seeing the places, but it doesn't look like I'll be in the area until July, unless I decide to drive up alone. And since people are trying to get places rented out, anything I find that I like right now will likely be taken by the time I visit. It's just kinda frustrating.
 
a good portion of the apartments on craigslist get taken within a week or less. have you thought about getting a temp place for a week or a hotel for a day or two?
 
i got a sublet over the summer for mad cheap and ill look for stuff while im there for my summer rotation

you could also check the graduate school summer housing for temp listings

Yeah, but are you refering to now or in July. I guess I'm just worried about waiting until July, but it'd be easier to seach for places then as well since my family has a lot of stuff going on now and I'd pretty much be going alone if I went now.

that's understandable. we've been looking on craigslist and it seems like most of the places are either avaliable now or avaliable within a week or so of the listing, so at least you'd be fine if you just look at places a few days before you go to look. it must be hard to be forced to wait til the last minute though.

luun, if you wanted to visit dc sometime before june 10, you're welcome to crash at my place in clarendon...i'm moving then, but i have the lease through june 30--have to check w/ the roommates after the 10th if you needed to crash.

padmapper is a great resource. i thought GW had subsidized housing in foggy? I'd say anything on the blue/orange within 6 stops of foggy would be ideal -- if you're willing to travel a bit further to campus i'd suggest crystal city for cheaper housing options--it's about a 15 minute commute from foggy I'd estimate. the downside is that the nightlife there is practically non-existent with the exception of the crystal city sports pub. but its only a few stops from gallery place off the yellow line.
